Miku agrees with you! Preconceived expectations and what her band actually delivers is what Band Maid was founded on. See pretty maids, but get face melted 🔥
Dont get those few negative sounding comments get to you. Im from basically the same neighborhood as japan and i didnt know better until just a couple of years ago. Then i found this band. Enjoy the journey..this band is worth a thousand trips
Haven't looked West for my Metal and Rock since the 20th century (honourable exception being The Warning). Japanese women are making all the best 21st century music. Love the Sabbath style breakdown in Moratorium...who were the first Metal band I saw live, back in 1976.
The reason for so few views on this video is that it is not an official release - somebody ripped it from a DVD. "Moratorium" has only been officially released as an album track (Off "Just Bring It" in 2017). Live it's a fan favourite and I can vouch the crowd goes nuts when they play it! (I've witnessed them play it live three times in Japan). I'm 58 from the UK and Band-Maid are the best live band I have ever seen, and I've been concert going since I was 14. Thank you for reacting to them!
There was an official release of this song back around 2017 (not this video). Like some other official videos they have been removed from YT. Not sure exactly why but it may be due to record company changes and not written by BAND MAID.
@@joeking6763 There are a few theories on this. But first, it's nothing to do with labels. MV's from all their previous labels are still there (like "Thrill" etc). And they wrote "Moratorium" plus Miku wrote the lyrics. First theory is as you say "Moratorium", "Puzzle" and the old version of "Play" with the old intro (all were from the Studio Coast concert) were on the Maids YT chanel but got taken down when they issued the concert on DVD with the limited edition of the "World Domination" album . Second theory is "Moratorium" and "puzzle" were never actually on the Maids YT channel. (The old "Play" was I think). The MV's were on other channels who had ripped them from the DVD. Many swear they were never there. And if you check old reactions from back in the day the links are not to Band Maids YT channel. Still not sure which is true, but they were not there when I discovered the Maids five years ago, but the footage was on other channels - the first four songs I heard from them were the live versions of "Domination", the old "Play", then "Puzzle" live then "Moratorium" live. Only the first two were from their channel. Plus the MV's of "Puzzle" and "Moratorium" are not listed in their official discography. Who knows?
@@Davey-Boyd Thanks for the info! The "old" videos were up for so long I figured that they were official. My initiation song was MORITORIUM. I tripped and fell on it while looking for the White Telecaster Trogly's Guitar review did for Silent Siren's guitarist. Anyway I was hooked from the first time and still am. I am a MAIDIAC for sure. Again, thanks for the info.
Moratorium is such a banger. One of the earlier songs I discovered that turned me into a die hard Maidiac. Keep spreading the good word. The world needs Band Maid.
Band Maid is an excellent band. I'm going further. Not only are they good, but they are often better live than their studio stuff. They are charming on stage. They are committed to the audience. Plus, they really enjoy what they do. One more thing. According to their fans, they can NOT be clearly classified into any "musical category". Band Maid is Band Maid. Is it rock? That's usually the case. :D 120 or maybe 130 songs. So many, so many... Come, get to know them. :) (It can take a long time!)
Japan actually has one of the most thriving metal scenes in the world. Rock and metal never really died in Japan like it did in the west. I'd give it fair odds that there are more good all-female Japanese metal bands than other countries have good metal bands overall.
I've been thinking about the "rock died" thing and I tend to think that it didn't *die* in the West, it just stopped being what 50% (generously) of the population listened to, with radio stations dedicated to it. Basically, if one thinks thinks rock "died," they likely had their memorable coming- of-age years when rock had an unusual level of "being everywhere."
These ladies have many surprises hidden for you. From soft loving ballads to technical secrets (like MISA's pick flip) to burying guitar or drum techniques low in the background that you won't hear until the forth or fifth time you listen. Have fun dude. You just got on this roller coaster!
Haha. Yeah i have to edit all the time using my Tab. Idk how many times i've typed a reply only to find it's somehow got in front of the persons name i'm replying to.🤷♂️
When I think of Japanese music I think of Japanese bands, not Korean Pop groups. Japanese bands have been playing Metal since the beginning of Metal. And they have been playing Rock N Roll since the beginning of Rock N Roll. Are you familiar with the U.S. post-war occupation of Japan? And did you know that K-Pop began as an imitation of J-Pop?
6:25 The reason this “music video” only has 14,000 views is because it’s not an official music video. It’s taken from a blu-ray/DVD release of a live concert, and uploaded to TH-cam by an unofficial Band-Maid fan channel.
I always try & get from the original channels, if not, I go for the best quality video with the most views. Sometimes YT doesn't put them at the top. I do what I can.
I was not aware that the drummer Danny Carry (from the tiny band Tool, but best known for shining like the sun when he is allowed to play with a high-school band or a local jazz group) had opened a reaction channel just to beam even more for fantastic music. (I could not come up with a better compliment, sir, Adam, since Danny is that legend and so much more) 👏👍😃. We are all pigeons!

Japan is full of great metal bands many of which are fully women or have women members. Band Maid is really more hard rock put they dabble in metal a bit. If you want to catch J-Metal female bands Nemophila, Hanabie (toured Down Under and I think are returning soon) and Lovebites are all excellent and have a dedicated following in the West. For others you have the biggest by far in Babymetal. Other excellent bands are Unlucky Morpheus, Hagane, Maximum the Hormone, Ningen Isu plus the legendary bands X-Japan and Loudness. Hell I could keep going on lists of great Japanese metal.
Oof, you know it's not gonna be good when a statement is prefaced, "I don't want to sound racist..." but there you go blithely referring to K-pop as Japanese music (the K refers to Korea, pretty obviously), demonstrating that you don't recognize a difference between the two nations, nor the 10th and 11th letters of the alphabet.
Oooo, that was a bit harsh.I meant no offence. Like I told someone else, I honestly had no idea what the K stood for. Ignorant on my part, yeah, it is. But I started this channel so I could learn about music I don't understand, that's the whole point, & this is something I've learnt.
I know I know, you don't mean to offend anyone, but the more you try, you awkwardly end up uttering those words that potentially be taken the wrong way. The best way to avoid any criticisms is to just treat them as musicians from Japan, and amazing one to boot. You don't have to categorise them. It's music reaction afterall, right? They are not Japanese spice girls, you're missing out on so many delicious details they added to the song by having the deeply ingrained mis-conceptions and I know it's not your fault. But hey, music is just music. There shouldn't have to be any gender/cultural specifics. There's so much music out there that you (or me) don't know about. Sooner or later your eyes and ears will open to wider range of music. All the best!
100% agree. That's why I started this channel, expand my musical horizons, & for the most part, I have not been disappointed. These ladies are awesome, the more I listen, the more I love.
