Aside from the incredible music and playing, the way Miku and Saiki have shorten and twisted her lyrics to fit Kanami's writing is pure genius. The cadence, syncopation and soulful expression, like in Choose Me, is rare and kinda old-school-rock exceptional. It feels a bit like scat and fits perfectly to the vibe of the music - one reason why some of us don't care if we can't understand most the lyrics. Thx, Adam!
“DICE” is top tier Band Maid. I call it “hair metal with a 🎀” “Puzzle” official live, is big, bombastic cinematic rock. It shows a different flavor “Moratorium,” Live, is a fan favorite and great example of seamless transitions from one style to the next. You could throw a dart 🎯 at anything from their official channel and never be disappointed
Women and music, I started with Hendrix in the 70s and many others. Women are sensitive to shades of colors, perfume, touch (their skin is much thinner than a man's) and music. No band has ever given me as much as Band Maid and in general, I like women's voices better in rock, it brings lightness. Music is a matter of sensitivity and emotion, often, it makes others happy.
BAND-MAID claims to be a hard rock band, but in reality, they write music that incorporates elements of all genres. So, the fans say that the genre of BAND-MAID is BAND-MAID. The girls are not only skilled on their instruments, but they are so accomplished as a band that they are regarded as one of the best live bands in the world. There are over 130 songs in the catalog, and the more you listen to them, the more you will be surprised by their diversity. Enjoy your BAND-MAID journey.
Yeah I hate when people come swooping in and say they're not a Metal band, but in fact yes they do have songs that are downright Metal in nature, especially some of their newer stuff. What I like is Band-Maid just plays what they want and infuse what kind of genre they feel like into their songs. Also in the end, Metal is just a sub-genre of Rock by definition. So have to agree Band-Maid is Band-Maid and should be classified as such.
@@roygillotti4615 Thanks for the reply. I guess the genre changes depending on how the listener perceives it. After all, good music is good music, right? Thank you for your continued support of BAND-MAID.
ignore the people giving you shit calling them metal instead of rock, in the end it doesn't matter. Band-Maid is Band-Maid, and we love whatever genre they choose to play! (which ironically does include metal and other rock adjacent genres) Great reaction and looking forward to more! and as a request, I recommend Moratorium!
I understood what you're getting at. I have always liked Female vocals in rock (Heart, Pat Benatar, etc.) but it is also great to see a group of talented women on all the instruments. Plus, I have seen them live four times. and their shows are absolutely fun!
Love the pop-ups great idea and well executed augments doesn't distract. The latest Blu-Ray Yokahama has 2 versions of this, both incredible ( one Saiki alone on piano ). Anyway I actually envy you. You are on th elaunchpad to the best rabbit hole in music. NO CLINKERS-this to me over 130 songs is the most amazing thing We ALL love these ladies these women these girls these angels these madonnas
I have been watching Band-Maid videos for four years and have been to two of their live concerts. Whatever song you listen to, you will enjoy. One suggestion I have of a Band-Maid song to listen to is "Moratorium", the official live music video. It's universally one of the favorites of we Maidiacs. It's a treat when they include it in a setlist of songs (usually around 20) at their concerts.
Well the Maids are not "Metal" but can do it when they want. "Thrill" was their first big song that kept them from obscurity. I like your "Pop-Ups" cool format.
Thanks for the reaction and comments. These ladies are God's gift to humanity. They are arguably the best live rock band on the planet. Please keep serving up more Band-Maid. Moratorium, Play, Puzzle, No God, Shambles, Blooming...the list goes on and on. Just pick one off their official channel. They're all FIRE!!!!! Cheers!
A big smile on your face all the way through, thats what BM does to people, these ladies are the real deal,,Check out,Shambles MV,its quite a new mv,great reaction Adam.
Metal or Rock - It's a generational thing, in the 60's, 70's we categorized Hendrix as Heavy Rock, Blach Sabbat as Byker/Rocker, AC/DC Byker/Rocker/Trash, then Van Halen, that's when metal came out, the word metal was never uttered before that period. If you grow up hearing the word metal to describe rock.. it's nothing too scary.
Yeah now it seems to me that people associate Metal with the extreme screaming harsh vocal variety... Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath would be hard pressed to be classified as Metal with today's mentality.
THE best Hard Rock band on Earth. Always choose Band-Maid! They performed 2 versions of this song at their 10th Anniversary concert in Nov 2023 (where they played 33 songs over 3.5 hours!); one where Saiki, the lead singer, performed it solo on the piano and the second where the whole band performed it - faultlessly - while walking around the Yokohama Arena. As no filming is allowed in Japan at concerts (because it's disrespectful to the artists, as is asking for an encore as it implies they haven't given 100% already) the band put up a notice saying the audience could film this one so there is a good compilation of the fancams by a Maidiac called Ohrenje, here on YT. PS I've been going to Metal and Rock gigs since the mid 70's and, no, I really don't miss the pained faces and growliness, etc! It's why, for the past 7 years, my ears have been turned nearly exclusively to Japan. If it's Metal you want, while Band-Maid use Metal elements now and then, you'd probably love the MetalAF all female Japanese band Lovebites. Try anything live by them - take it from someone whose 1st Metal gig was Sabbath in 76, they're making the best Metal of the 21st century!
The Technical Ecstasy tour… nice! I never saw Sabbath with Ozzy, sadly. Thinking back, I think my first metal concert was Judas Priest on the Screaming For Vengeance tour. While their catalog is hit-or-miss for me, I agree that Lovebites are legit one of the best current metal bands.
@@interstellardave Yes, that tour! I was only 15 so got very excited when I managed to get one of the posters from the tour, with 2 robots meeting on an escalator. I saw Priest a couple of years later. Yet to see Lovebites live.
“3rd Single” is such a technicality I think. I think it’s the 3rd song released as a “single” outside of albums, but they already had at least 3 full albums at this point and a lot of awesome music. Even their first video is a b-side of their first single, which is still came after an album. No worries though. The music industry can be a weird place. As far as where to go, check out Dice or Blooming imo.
This is far from their first song. The one that saved them from losing the record contract was "Thrill". The first song they wrote themselves that they were allowed to record is "Alone". You will like them both, and everything else they have made for that matter.
BAND-MAID consider themselves to be Hard Rock. But they have so many influences, and Metal is certainly among them. No. You were told wrong. Their first song was 'Thrill'.
It's always difficult saying "one of my favourites" because they are virtually *ALL* my favourites, lol, but ya, this is one of my top faves out of all of them, still. hee hee. Not a Metal Band.
Their new stuff is pretty much Metal adjacent to be honest. In fact a even a bit of their older songs would likely be classified as Metal if they came out in the mid 80s. I'm not saying they should be classified as a Metal band, but they do swing that way when they want to.

A song so good that they had to PLAY it twice at Yokohama Arrena.
And both versions are absolutely amazing!!

Band maid slaying as normal 😊

Band-maid was founded in 2013 and this song is from 2017, so not their first song.
If you like this song, you'll probably like DICE, Alone, Rinne, Blooming, YOLO, etc.
Also Influencer and Shambles.

If music makes you want to move your head only, it's metal. If you also want to move your feet, it's rock. Band Maid make me want to move to Japan.
Interesting take. Never thought about it like that.
