Band Maid isn’t just good, or great, they are special. That smallest category of bands that do everything so well that it’s hard to believe. And they just never miss!
Thank you ! I've been around since 1958 and I've heard a lot of great music. BandMaid is not just a ordinary band at all. They are a phenomenon of hard work, talent, ingenuity, determination and love. Both love in and love out. Harry Truman said It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit. Yep. 11:29
Yessir, continuing the dive is the only viable course now! I have a short list of recommendations from my previous video that I intend to check out on my rotation with the other bands I also want to explore :)
Just another Band-Maid Masterpiece in musicianship and writing, both lyrically and musically. Nice breakdown on the lyrics, I never listen to lyrics but you opened my eyes with this one......Thanks! Hope you do more Band-Maid, they are truly special ladies.
Yeah, this song is great 🤘 Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the lyrics breakdown! What I discussed in the video is, of course, only one possible interpretation. Someone else in the comments mentioned that Miku wrote this song for the "shut ins", to motivate them to get out and live their life. I'm scratching my head with some of the lines for that interpretation, but it's a more positive message. Whatever you vibe with the most is the one to go with 👍 I do have a growing list of BAND-MAID songs to check out and I intend to start going through them on rotation with the other bands I want to explore 👌
Wow, thoroughly impressed with how you interpreted and analysed the song. This was probably my 100th listen but you managed to get me to appreciate the song even more now. Great work!
Thanks, I'm happy to hear you found value in my analysis! I never expected my getting excited about something can help a long-time fan appreciate the music even more! Thank you for sharing that, it's nice to know ❤
"Blooming" is one of Band-Maid video that just about every Maidiac loves. Upbeat, fast-paced music with so many interesting twists in the song (and video). You can't help but be completely riveted by the video. When it first came out, so many people said "What the hell!?"
When it came out Mr RnR had just begun on his journey, and was about to do some live songs. I felt this song was so special, that I recommended him to check it out. Still to this day this is one of my favourite Maid-songs!
After 30 years of Rock Business..after few thousands gigs, after seen all the major ones multiple times, I still haven’t seen or heard better band than Band-Maid 🔥 They are The Special Ones ❤️ once in a Century, magic happens, this time it was Band-Maid. I’m privileged to be alive when Band-Maid playin’ 🙏🏻🔥❤️💥
Wow that's quite the resume you have! I've heard this notion that modern music is bad/dying, but I don't know about that. I manage to find plenty of music to enjoy, including my very recent discovery of Band-Maid 🤘🎀🎵🎶
@@bsdsuPASTA Yeah, it’s not dying..here in Western World it’s just old guys playin’ same notes (sarcasm alert 😅) these All Female band from Japan( and The Warning from Mexico) are carrying the Torch of Freshness in Rock 🔥🤘❤️
@@bocatampere Yeah, that seems to be a thing with every generation - music is always dying, and yet music is never dead 😄 I agree with you, the future of rock seems to be in safe hands, at least for now!🔥🤘❤
Kobato Miku's lyrics are well written on many levels. Her choice of words meaningfully efficient, aesthetically beautiful, thought provoking, and subtly filled with her sly sense of self deprecating humor. That's why I look up Band-Maid's lyrics when the subtitles aren't available: they're always a worthwhile read. Similar to a 'teaching hospital', Band-Maid is a teaching band. Kanami taught Miku how to play guitar, I've seen Misa teaching Akane how to play bass, Akane teaches all of them drumming, and I am certain that a partial purpose behind Miku's lyric writing collaborations with Saiki was to get her started writing lyrics on her own. One other part of that collaboration was Saiki teaching Miku how to choose words better suited for singing. This makes for an amazing band that we all note as being better each time we see them.
I'm not sure how accurate the lyrics translations I read are, but based on them I agree. They are interesting to read and usually have nifty tidbits to discover. Band-Maid definitely seems like a tight-knit group. The teaching aspect that you mention is probably a big part of it, but even besides that, based on things I've read in interviews and seen in the live performance videos, they behave more like a group of friends out to have fun than musical colleagues. They've got something great going on 👌
Great reaction! I like how you can put to words how the music makes you feel! It's an interesting take that is equal to the ones with musical knowledge that break the music down too! Music is technical, but it how it makes us feel is equally if not moreso important!
Thanks, I'm happy to hear you like my approach! The way I see it, the technical part explains how we achieve the feeling part, and the feeling part is the point of art in general. So, yeah, I agree that both are important 👍
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the reaction! Do Band-maid tour Europe (and Germany specifically) often? I have a friend who lives in Germany, if the stars align I might be able to persuade myself to go visit him and check out a pack of rocking maids live 🤘
And now you know why us fans consider this band an amazing team, with the lead guitarist Kanami being the genius primary music composer, and the two vocalists, Saiki and Miku, crafting beautiful lyrics.
Yep, they do seem to work well together! Having more than one vocalist is also really good for the opportunities it unlocks, such as doing the bridge of this song in the way they did it 👌
There is something special about these ladies, they have the IT factor, no one can really put their finger on what IT is, all 5 of these ladies are top tier musicians but together they are magic, their lead guitarist is not only a guitar wizard but also the main composer of their music. the founder of the band (red rose in hair) not only plays rhythm guitar and does back-up vocals but is their main lyrics writer, the bassist and drummer have both had their names pop up in conversations about the best in rock today, and their front lady is a force of nature, she commands the stage and the audience.
They are certainly quite impressive. I was reading some interview transcripts on reddit yesterday and found out that Miku started learning the guitar AFTER the band was formed, as originally she was going to be solo vocalist. Now, I am very much biased because I started learning the guitar a couple of months ago and I can see how much I suck, but that bit baffles me more than anything else 🕊🎸
I'm so jealous that you're just starting your Band Maid journey. You're going to have so much fun. It's a pigeon hole that once you climb in you can't climb out. Which is kind of an oxymoron because Band Maid can't be pigeonholed. 🤘😁

Thanks for the breakdown and the recommendations, I've added them to my list 👌 I'm a big enjoyer of "live bands" and bands that switch up their music, so I've got big hopes with BAND-MAID based on what people say and what little I've heard!
Welcome back to Band Maid! The best rock band on the planet (imo of course) I am not much of a lyrics guy, so I usually don’t pay a ton of attention to them, it’s just not how my brain interprets music. All that said, I appreciate that you get it. You understand the poetic nature of Miku’s writing. So many people that do try and talk about lyrics try and take them at face value and with the way they’re structured and then translated to a different language they just don’t understand it. So very well done on all that. I think you’re going to be a bigger fan of their more recent music than their older stuff as they have a more proggy inspiration lately. A few songs to add to the list: Warning MV Influencer MV Manners / Blackhole (live, it’s 2 songs in 1 video)
HEY, THANK YOU FOR RECOMMENDING BLOOMING, IT WAS A SPOT ON RECOMMENDATION! I think you're in the majority. Most people don't seem to look much into lyrics, aside from singing the catchy bits. I personally find that having a mental image of the song derived from the lyrics enhances my listening experience, so I take the time to go over them in my videos. Poetry can be tricky to work with, I very much relate to the difficulties of interpreting such lyrics. I'm happy to hear you think I did a good job though, thanks! ❤ And thank you for the recommendations, I have added them to my rapidly swelling list!
I really appreciate both your lyric and music analysis. For a couple more songs especially strong both musically and lyrically (these two are just two of many) - Warning! (MV - lyrics more open to interpretation) - Hate? (Official Live - lyrical meaning pretty obvious but they're so good)
Oh, just listened again to - Different (MV) Those lyrics are very interesting. And of course - Puzzle (Official Live) The story of the "other woman" in an affair with a married man.
Thanks, I'm happy to hear you appreciate the analysis ❤ And thanks for the recommendations from both comments! I've added them to my list, where "Hate?" (Live) is pulling ahead in numbers by quite a bit. It must've been a spectacular performance!
Well, as we Maidiacs tend to say, the last Band-Maid song you hear becomes your favorite Band-Maid song. And Hate? is quite recent. That being said, it's pretty fucking fantastic!
There's so much that can be said about The Warning and their massive impact on the international music scene. But since you are learning more about the Maids, here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid: Welcome, bsdsuPASTA. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 200 million views just on their official YT channel, plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women.
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (130+ songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 32 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Great breakdown. Love it. One of my favs of the Maids - great solo and great everything else. All 5 Maids are on fire in this song. A masterclass in rock.
Congratulations on discovering my favourite Band Maid song ! Great analysis. You won't be dissapointed by any song, ok I am biased but any one you pick next will be awesome !
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the analysis! Everyone else in the comments seems to agree with you that I won't be disappointed by any song and whichever I pick will be awesome. Sure, you're all biased, but you've managed to raise my expectations regardless! I am now curious to see what will happen when hype meets reality 😄
You're welcome, I'm glad you liked it! I think most people don't pay too much attention to the lyrics, so not many people talk about them. Not many people care to hear about them either, based on the numbers and graphs TH-cam shows me.
Blooming is classic BAND-MAID. Try this for a bit of BAND-MAID evolution: check out the MV for FROM NOW ON That's all I'm going to say. Let me know how many Rock bands can produce a song like that. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Peace. 306
@@bsdsuPASTA 👍🏻Excellent! If you're disappointed or indifferent after listening to FROM NOW ON then your BAND-MAID journey may be over....but I doubt it.🔥😎
@@bsdsuPASTA Hate? live at Yokohama arena will be very interesting for many reasons: 1/it's live 2/ lyrics are written by Saiki instead of Miku (and you'll see she has a totally different writing style! 3/bass & guitar heaven!
@@realdocloco That sounds like a 4 out of 3 song! #1 I prefer live so I can enjoy the band's stage presence #2 I get to check out a different writing style #3 Bass & guitar heaven ❤ #4 You didn't mention it, but they put a question mark in the title of the song. I'm a simple man, I enjoy the simple things! I have added your recommendation to the list, thank you!
The FUMOUGOKAI(不妄語戒) precept at the beginning of the lyrics is the fourth of the five precepts, which are a code of conduct for Buddhists, and it is a precept that says "You must not lie." Other precepts include prohibiting killing, stealing, adultery, and drinking alcohol. If you break this precept, you will fall into the world of animals. MIKU lyrics are actually deep.
Subscribed! And, I consider what to suggest next, for any future BAND-MAID... I'd suggest a live performance. "HATE?" Live is a recent performance (Nov '23), of BAND-MAID performing live, very much at full power. The live song is "built out" from the studio version, to include some additional material for the 10th Anniversary Tour. (I attended one of their shows on the tour last August, in the USA.) Another one from earlier in BAND-MAID's career is "Real Existence" Live, showcases a lot of their energy on stage. "Domination" Live is another great, great one, though I like the slightly murky sound mix a little less.
Wow, a very informative reaction. That’s how it must be. I don’t like when reactors just listen the whole song without giving their opinion whether positive or negative. We heard the song many times, we need to hear reactors opinion. A very good job, man! One more and I’ll subscribe.
Thanks, it's always nice to hear that people enjoy what I do! ❤ I have a few more songs to check out before I loop back to Band-Maid, but I do very much plan to do more Band-Maid, so you'll probably see my face somewhere on your YT home page at some point 👍
This song started with composer Kanami giving the other band members "homework" for the song. She then took that and wove them into Bloooming. Then Miku went to wok. Lyrics followed from her thoughts about the music.
Kanami writes the songs and the drummer and bass player work out their parts, but for this one she apparently asked the others to all contribute at the beginning. it's amazing. But that doesn't mean that their other songs are simple. Kanami is a creative composer and their stuff is intense and full of unexpected transitions and changes. By the way, Miku, the rhythm guitar player, second vocal, and founder of the band, writes the lyrics for all but a few their songs. She's amazing.
Thank you for the lore! Pretty much everyone in the comments says that Kanami is a cross-dimensional giga-brain composer (I'm paraphrasing a bit) and all Band-Maid songs have more twists and turns than an ADHD teenager's mind after a lengthy TikTok session (I'm paraphrasing a bit again) so my expectations have grown quite high 😄 If most of Miku's lyrics are as poetic as they are in this song, that's something else to look forward to! Poetry, especially when it's translated from another language, is very difficult to interpret, but some of the lines are quite beautiful 👌
You have done a great job breaking this Band Maid song down. You may not be a musician, however, many times I would rather hear a thorough review from a seasoned listener than a musician. I have always loved the ending on Blooming, it's perfect, like wrapping up a parcel and tying a bowe on it.
Subscribed. Great breakdown. Blooming is my #2 song on my top 3, as 50 other songs fight for #3, so no use doing a top 10.🤣 Band-Maid has a huge portfolio of diverse song styles. Enjoy the journey down the Pigeon-hole. PO! 🕊 🤘😆🤘
@@bsdsuPASTA They all know it is Blooming, But then there is Daydreaming. Can't forget Black Hole. Some do say Corallium. What do they know. I would put Sayonakidori ahead of Corallium, maybe. Could be some others, I have to think hard.
To me, Miku is discussing the ebbs and flows of one's emotions through time and phases of a committed relationship, whether a mate, friend, band (😉). And how going away for a bit gives us more perfective each time we do it as to how special those truly sympatico relationships and people are in our lives. Also, to me, Mincho's solo (similarly in Daydreaming imo) is that absolute passionate returning we have when we come "back home (IYKYK)" from our wanderings and we are reminded of the blinding joy of having that relationship to return to.
Being on tour and away from a very special person? 🤔 (I know you are talking about a general concept rather than a specific circumstance, this is just one example) That's a nice interpretation, I like it! It adds a neat flavor to the solo, too 🙂Thank you for sharing it!
Tis a rare thing for a reactor to resist pausing after that guitar solo. That drop off into the vocal harmonies demands that you delay any further action. And before you know it, the song is over! Solo to the end is a total masterpiece of songwriting.
Yeah, that's my bad. I don't know where my mind was during that part, because the solo -> bridge slaps me in the face every time I listen to this song, and yet somehow it went under the radar while I was recording :( The solo itself is much cooler than I initially noticed as well! :(
@@Kevin6059 Oh, a compliment! I graciously accept it 🙏 I wasn't going to pause there anyway, I have developed some rules around pausing in my brief existence as a reactor👌 So essentially all that was missed was commenting on it, which I wish I'd done, but there's nothing to be done now. Cheers!
You have a very, very fine ear for music, I would say. :) I noticed that just before in the 'Show Them' video, and that was only confirmed even more here. Also with your analysis of the lyrics, which admittedly are indeed in most cases very poetic and leave room for interpretation, and also fit well with the 'mood' of the instruments most of the time.... I'll just say this much, and not that it means anything at all, but hats off and you've got my attention. 😉👍🏻 Welcome to the pigeon-hole of Band-Maid and greetings from Germany. 🙏🏻 _____________________ _"America invented rock. I don't know half as much about music as I would need to make such claims, but subjectively speaking I prefer The Warning's style of solos. That said, I think the shredding in Blooming fits the song and it sounds good 👌
Band Maid will always give something different and surprises in every song. The have become their own genre. Watch HATE? live from Yokohama Arena if you haven't got another side of the band.
Much respect for bands "carving their own genre" and much love for bands who change up what they do from song to song ❤ Thank you for the recommendation, I have added it to my list!
Someone mentioned that this song has been used in a Netflix movie called Kate, which seems to be a thriller action movie, so maybe this song was actually used as a car chase soundtrack! I don't have a Netflix subscription so I can't check it out, but either way Blooming would be a good fit for an action movie I think.
@@bsdsuPASTA Yeap. You're right, it was used on a car chase scene. Another song from theirs, Choose me, is also used on a concert scene, where the ladies perform the song as well.
@@teddyoso87 Yeah, I googled around a bit and found both scenes. They even had the band members play themselves in the "Choose me" scene, it was cool to see!
Oh, that's interesting! I'd consider checking the movie out despite the low IMDB score just to see how and where they fit "Blooming" in it, but I don't have a Netflix subscription. Thank you for the interesting trivia!
They have a Groove. That’s the main point. Kanami, lead guitarist and composer, is maybe most impressive musician of the 21st Century. Pure genius as a composer and true Rock’n Roll Star on stage. These ladies are The Special Ones ❤️ Check out liveperfomances, they are even better live. Hate?(Official Live Video) next 🙏🏻
I am excited to explore more of Kanami's highly praised compositions! Hate? (Official Live Video) is very likely going to be my next Band-Maid stop. I've been keeping track of what's been suggested so far and Hate? live is leagues ahead of everything else that has been mentioned. Although I should probably mentioned that I have a few more stops planned before I come back to Band-Maid, so it won't be the very next video I post.
Expect the UNEXPECTED with BAND MAID. BAND MAID is more about the music - lyrics (by MIKU) are better when you've listened to the music a few times. BAND MAID will throw English lyrics into every song. Some songs are all English. You will become a MAIDIAC like the rest of us.
Easy sub. Your ears will be well rewarded by Band Maid 🤘🏽 You claim to not be “well versed” in music; however, you are noticing and highlighting things that make me think you may be a bit too modest The Maids always change verse two. It’s a “Band Maid Thing.” And their compositions are designed by and for nuclear engineers, but palatable enough for musical cavemen. Here are some choices for your next reaction. I hope you aren’t allergic to goosebumps or other emotional responses 😂 “Puzzle,” official live. Progressive power rock with tragic love lyrics “From Now On,” official music video. Heavy metal instrumental emotional rollercoaster with no lyrics at all “Daydreaming,” official music video. Alt rock uptempo ballad with one of Kanami’s finest solos. More lovely, poetic lyrics Enjoy your fall down the magical pigeonhole ❤
Why play the same verse twice? Yes, I can see the logic there 👌 I have learned enough about music from watching industry professionals talk music theory and break down songs, as well as from going through a guitar learning course, to know that there's a vast quantity of knowledge I don''t possess and that there's a ton of fundamental musical building blocks that my ear doesn't notice. But perhaps I've picked up more things than I thought on my journey 🤔 Thank you for the recommendations and for taking the time to explain what I can expect from each song, I have added them to my list! I shall enjoy all the nuclear engineer level compositions and emotional responses that I can handle! ❤
@@PaulEngineer To me that's on the positive side as well, I was mostly thinking reading a line and getting the thought "but is this what she meant or is this just how it's translated?" That I would rather do without.
THE best band on Earth. And they are even better live. Great reaction! Try HATE? live (on their YT channel) to see one of the 21st century's great Hard Rock performances. Superb call and response breakdown between MISA on bass and Kanami on guitar (with lots of complex drumwork too!).
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the reaction! I have added "Hate?", the official live version, to my list. It's by far the most recommended song (so far) so I suspect I'll be checking it out soon!
@@bsdsuPASTA I isolated the drums from the mix and published it on my YT channel (at 100% volume with the other intruments on 25%) as there's barely a glimpse of Akane's precise drumwork on the MV. It's an impressive performance and, having seen the likes of Zeppelin, Zappa, Queen and other great Rock band perform their finest back in the 20th century, I think it's genuinely one of the superlative Rock performances of this century.
@@bsdsuPASTA Subscribed to make sure I don't miss your next step down the Pigeon Hole that is Band-Maid's 130+ song back catalogue...and all the live versions...and the acoustic sets...even lots of excellent documentaries and fancams.
@@tonygriffin_ It really shows that they've been around as a band for over 10 years! My next step down the Pigeon Hole is planned for a few videos down the line, but it is planned! 🕊
It’s a valiant effort on the lyrics. Unfortunately, a translation via captions can only get you so far. A lot of their older songs have very bad translations, but even a good translation would generally be inadequate, because Miku, their lyricist, loves to pack them with references, allusions and wordplay. You’d need a ton of footnotes and understanding of Japanese cultural things. She also fearlessly incorporates English that she’s not actually that good at, which adds another layer of difficulty trying to guess what she meant. That all said, it was enjoyable to get your interpretation, and I love when people listen to them thoughtfully and think about their writing decisions. Their writing is what makes them really stand out for me. They work really hard to cram in interesting details, without deviating so much from general song structure that it’s not listenable. Looking forward to the next steps in your journey.
A valiant effort is all I can offer in any case 😄Interpreting poetry, unless it's very straight forward, usually ends up with contextual guessing. At least for me it does. But, yes, the tiniest translation difference can send the interpretation off to Narnia, and not to mention cultural specifics and references. I wish I could read and appreciate Miku's lyrics in Japanese, based on what you've said I'd find plenty to enjoy. I'm glad you enjoyed the interpretation anyway! I love exploring art, so I'll be on the lookout for as many interesting details as I can spot in my future BAND-MAID listening o7
1)BAND-MAID / HATE? (Official Live Video) 2) BAND-MAID / Manners, BLACK HOLE (Official Live Video) for J-LOD LIVE2 I highly recommend for analyzing the range in which the group performs )) You have a good analysis, thoughtful, this is rare these days
Thank you! It's always nice to hear people enjoy what I do ❤ Checking out the range of a new band I've started listening to is my current go-to strategy, so I appreciate you recommended songs based on that! I have added them to my list 👍
This is more like the regular Band-Maid style although they do include many genres in their music. Show Them was composed to accommodate both bands and The Warning more straight classic rock.
Miku wrote this as a rousing call for dudes who live in their bedrooms to get out and be their best selves. How can they refuse? The toxic relationship is with their current lifestyle I suggest. Rejoin is with the real world. Maybe.
You've reminded me that the "shut ins" is a recognized phenomenon in Japan (I believe they call them hikikomori). "Release. Rejoin!" makes a lot more sense in that context! Although I can't puzzle why she wrote "lovers' game" and who the person the speaker of the song is talking about in lines like "Your words inside me are / Like thorns piercing my breast / I'll find you, feel your presence". I skimmed the first bits of the wikipedia page for hikikomori where they define the term and I saw nothing mentioned about love specifically 🤔
@@stevekane4922 Hm, could be. It could be parasocial love, too. Whoever got the speaker of the song to consider "going out and living their best life". That's a nice interpretation :)
@@bsdsuPASTA bandmaid are so close themselves that it would be strange if miku didn't want others to have similar. It was a major reason for her forming the band - to have a crew of besties. 120% success.
@@stevekane4922 That's one of the best reasons to start a band as far as I'm concerned. Who doesn't want a crew of besties? And they do seem to want to uplift other people, that's basically what Show Them is, so that checks out 👌
I've never seen a good live recording, of this one. The timing is so precise that it doesn't translate well. (Or maybe the tunings are different--I'm not sure.) Add that Saiki doesn't sing live with effects, and you've got a tough sound to replicate.
I assume since the song has been played live the only reason there are no good live recordings is because it hasn't been performed on a large stage that features professional recording. I know some festivals do that and sometimes bands will arrange the recording themselves for their big headline performances. Either way, this song clearly can be performed live, seeing as it has been. It would sound different, sure, but that's part of the fun! I like checking out the stage presence of bands and besides everyone says Band-Maid is better live, so I always look for a live version of songs I listen to, but only if it's a quality recording.
@@bsdsuPASTA I've been in the audience, when it was played live, and I didn't think the song translated well. In contrast, Domination was much better, live.
I always feel like I'm way off the bell curve of popular media, sigh. Personally, I absolutely despise knowing what 99% of song lyrics are supposed to be about. For me, it's like finding out what the final score of a game is before watching it, or being told how a cool and mysterious magic trick works. It ruins it for me if I love a song, and then discover it's about a super banal or mundane topic, or it's all full of nasty people drama and conflict. I can't abide "Reality" TV shows either, lol. I read and listen to music to destress and escape from the horrible interactions between humans.
Admittedly, this is the first time I hear someone wanting to not know what the lyrics of a song are about. I find that most people are indifferent. If it makes it any better, some people in the comments suggested that the song was written to try and motivate "shut ins" to go out and enjoy their life, or to express the feeling of being away from someone dear (romantically speaking or otherwise). With lyrics so rich in metaphors it can really go anywhere (especially when accounting for things lost in translation). Regardless, when I look into songs like I do in my reaction/analysis videos I pretty much always go through the lyrics as well, because I'm on the other end of the spectrum and I find that it enriches my experience with the song, so I recommend avoiding my reaction/analysis content. Godspeed! 🤞
Don't try to understand band maid because when you try to understamd them u will not get astray as specialy u said u just not well verse on the band maid
OMG, You turned what would have been a cool reaction of a great song, in a boring, slow, over chopped "analysis".😪 And those lyric dissertations... boring, I didn't even finish the video... I could not.😐
Band Maid isn’t just good, or great, they are special. That smallest category of bands that do everything so well that it’s hard to believe. And they just never miss!
Sounds promising! I'm definitely impressed so far 👌
Yep. 11:29
@@chrisegbertky I can agree with Harry Truman on that. "Teamwork makes the dream work", as they say! And also hard work, passion, and discipline.
When someone ‘gets’ Band-Maid, they get my subscription. Hope you continue the dive into their catalogue. There’s not a bad song to be found!
Yessir, continuing the dive is the only viable course now!
I have a short list of recommendations from my previous video that I intend to check out on my rotation with the other bands I also want to explore :)
Yes, he got mine as well. Great break down and welcome to Mediacs 🙂

Hope you do more Band-Maid, they are truly special ladies.
Yeah, this song is great 🤘
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the lyrics breakdown!
What I discussed in the video is, of course, only one possible interpretation. Someone else in the comments mentioned that Miku wrote this song for the "shut ins", to motivate them to get out and live their life. I'm scratching my head with some of the lines for that interpretation, but it's a more positive message. Whatever you vibe with the most is the one to go with 👍

"Blooming" is one of Band-Maid video that just about every Maidiac loves. Upbeat, fast-paced music with so many interesting twists in the song (and video). You can't help but be completely riveted by the video. When it first came out, so many people said "What the hell!?"
I concur! What is there not to love in this song?
When it came out Mr RnR had just begun on his journey, and was about to do some live songs. I felt this song was so special, that I recommended him to check it out.

It's the best analysis of this song which I ever heard....
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it and I appreciate you saying this ❤
Kobato Miku's lyrics are well written on many levels.
Thank you for checking out our ladies!
My pleasure! Quite literally!
Interesting and thoughtful analysis. Thank you
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
Band-maid is a top live Band nice reaction greeting from germany
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the reaction!
Do Band-maid tour Europe (and Germany specifically) often? I have a friend who lives in Germany, if the stars align I might be able to persuade myself to go visit him and check out a pack of rocking maids live 🤘
And now you know why us fans consider this band an amazing team, with the lead guitarist Kanami being the genius primary music composer, and the two vocalists, Saiki and Miku, crafting beautiful lyrics.
Yep, they do seem to work well together! Having more than one vocalist is also really good for the opportunities it unlocks, such as doing the bridge of this song in the way they did it 👌
@@bsdsuPASTA I love the dreamy harmonies in the bridge. One of the many features that make it one of my top Band-Maid songs.
@@Retec Yesss! I, too, am a fine appreciator of good harmonies 👌👍🤘

As usual, a very deep, thoughtful analysis! 👍😎😊
Thanks, it's good to hear my observations provide some value 👌🤘🙂
Lol 14:50 - speechless from the sheer chaotic awesomeness you're witnessing - we've all been there my friend 😊
And I don't mind being there again 👌
Thanks for an incredible reaction. Hope you do more Band-Maid, and yes, always look for a live version.

Welcome back to Band Maid! The best rock band on the planet (imo of course)
I am not much of a lyrics guy, so I usually don’t pay a ton of attention to them, it’s just not how my brain interprets music.
A few songs to add to the list:
Warning MV
Influencer MV
Manners / Blackhole (live, it’s 2 songs in 1 video)
HEY, THANK YOU FOR RECOMMENDING BLOOMING, IT WAS A SPOT ON RECOMMENDATION!
I think you're in the majority. Most people don't seem to look much into lyrics, aside from singing the catchy bits. I personally find that having a mental image of the song derived from the lyrics enhances my listening experience, so I take the time to go over them in my videos.
Poetry can be tricky to work with, I very much relate to the difficulties of interpreting such lyrics. I'm happy to hear you think I did a good job though, thanks! ❤
And thank you for the recommendations, I have added them to my rapidly swelling list!
I really appreciate both your lyric and music analysis. For a couple more songs especially strong both musically and lyrically (these two are just two of many)
- Warning! (MV - lyrics more open to interpretation)
- Hate? (Official Live - lyrical meaning pretty obvious but they're so good)
Oh, just listened again to
- Different (MV)
Those lyrics are very interesting. And of course
- Puzzle (Official Live) The story of the "other woman" in an affair with a married man.
Thanks, I'm happy to hear you appreciate the analysis ❤
And thanks for the recommendations from both comments!
@@hookstrpd That's fair enough!

Welcome, bsdsuPASTA.
Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. Great breakdown. Love it. One of my favs of the Maids - great solo and great everything else. All 5 Maids are on fire in this song. A masterclass in rock.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the breakdown!
I concur - Blooming is a great song!
This is what we can call a deep analysis, especially regarding the lyrics. Which is rather rare among to a Band-Maid song. Thanks dude.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Peace. 306

#4 You didn't mention it, but they put a question mark in the title of the song.
That's a good set of rules the Buddhists have 👌
Miku's lyrics do seem to be quite inspired. I'm excited to read some more of them!
(I attended one of their shows on the tour last August, in the USA.)
Another one from earlier in BAND-MAID's career is "Real Existence" Live, showcases a lot of their energy on stage. "Domination" Live is another great, great one, though I like the slightly murky sound mix a little less.
Thank you for the recommendations, I appreciate you elaborating on what makes them good candidates! I've added them to my list 👍
I have a few more songs to check out before I loop back to Band-Maid, but I do very much plan to do more Band-Maid, so you'll probably see my face somewhere on your YT home page at some point 👍
This song started with composer Kanami giving the other band members "homework" for the song. She then took that and wove them into Bloooming. Then Miku went to wok. Lyrics followed from her thoughts about the music.
That sounds like the kind of thing experienced composers do "to see how it goes" 😄 It worked out!
Band-Maid Puzzle
Thanks for the recommendation, I have added it to my list!
Fun reaction, there's a lot more great music by Band-Maid ahead of you!
Thanks!
I look forward to all the great music ahead of me 👌🤘
top tier Band Maid here! ♥
All Band Maids are top tier! 😄
Pretty much everyone in the comments says that Kanami is a cross-dimensional giga-brain composer (I'm paraphrasing a bit) and all Band-Maid songs have more twists and turns than an ADHD teenager's mind after a lengthy TikTok session (I'm paraphrasing a bit again) so my expectations have grown quite high 😄
If most of Miku's lyrics are as poetic as they are in this song, that's something else to look forward to!
Thanks, I appreciate you saying that ❤
I agree with every word you said about the ending of this song. It just feels "right".
Subscribed. Great breakdown. Blooming is my #2 song on my top 3, as 50 other songs fight for #3, so no use doing a top 10.🤣 Band-Maid has a huge portfolio of diverse song styles. Enjoy the journey down the Pigeon-hole. PO! 🕊 🤘😆🤘

@@DAVID-io9nj That's very relatable 😄That's why I go with a vague "it's one of my top songs".
Top what? I don't know. Just top 🙂
(I know you are talking about a general concept rather than a specific circumstance, this is just one example)
That's a nice interpretation, I like it!
I don't know where my mind was during that part, because the solo -> bridge slaps me in the face every time I listen to this song, and yet somehow it went under the radar while I was recording :(
The solo itself is much cooler than I initially noticed as well!
:(
@@bsdsuPASTA I actually meant it as a compliment, because that drop off is way more effective if you don't pause to rave about the solo. Cheers!
@@Kevin6059 Oh, a compliment! I graciously accept it 🙏
I wasn't going to pause there anyway, I have developed some rules around pausing in my brief existence as a reactor👌
So essentially all that was missed was commenting on it, which I wish I'd done, but there's nothing to be done now.

I welcome my potential future as a MAIDIAC. The more I like, the more I like 🧠 😎
Easy sub. Your ears will be well rewarded by Band Maid 🤘🏽
You claim to not be “well versed” in music; however, you are noticing and highlighting things that make me think you may be a bit too modest
The Maids always change verse two. It’s a “Band Maid Thing.”
And their compositions are designed by and for nuclear engineers, but palatable enough for musical cavemen.
Here are some choices for your next reaction. I hope you aren’t allergic to goosebumps or other emotional responses 😂
“Puzzle,” official live. Progressive power rock with tragic love lyrics
“From Now On,” official music video. Heavy metal instrumental emotional rollercoaster with no lyrics at all
“Daydreaming,” official music video. Alt rock uptempo ballad with one of Kanami’s finest solos. More lovely, poetic lyrics
Enjoy your fall down the magical pigeonhole ❤
Why play the same verse twice? Yes, I can see the logic there 👌
I have learned enough about music from watching industry professionals talk music theory and break down songs, as well as from going through a guitar learning course, to know that there's a vast quantity of knowledge I don''t possess and that there's a ton of fundamental musical building blocks that my ear doesn't notice. But perhaps I've picked up more things than I thought on my journey 🤔

This is more like the regular Band-Maid style although they do include many genres in their music. Show Them was composed to accommodate both bands and The Warning more straight classic rock.
Lucky me! I like this, I like Show Them, and I like The Warning.
It's a good time to be PASTA, enjoying music 😊🤘🎵🎶
@@bsdsuPASTA that's maybe their dream lover
@@stephenriggs8177 That's fair, they did use a a number of effects in this song that would be difficult to set up for a live performance (I think?)
Godspeed! 🤞
