    Nice job.👍👍 Personally I would have used the good old green coolant and a THIN layer of gasket SEALANT on the t-stat and water pump to help along with the gaskets.💪👊😁😁

      @2AOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The green coolant is a classic! I’ve always used that orange coolant and I figured if I ever need more I can go to any autozone and get it 😂. I’ve never needed sealant but if that thermostat housing leaks at all it’s getting some! Thanks for watching man 😎

    when I installed the flow cooler on the pink engine, I used a very thin layer of grey silicone helps keep it in place and extra peice of mind. that does remind me time for a flush.

      Good call man 😊 if i have any kind of leak I’ll pull the pump and silicone it. And gotta get that summer jeep prep done!

    I decided to do like you recommended and flushed out the heater core. All this rusty gunk came out! Good Rec. Also, the exact same thing happened to me! I sprayed water and soaked myself. hahaha luckily it's hot and I didn't mind. Love the videos.

    I might upgrade to that. Never overheated but runs 212 in traffic in the AZ summer.

      @2AOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the pump will work well in stop and go traffic during the summer forsure. Our jeep get up to 220 but that’s during slow crawling with no air flow. So I hope this pump helps

    Nice to see someone still doing XJ videos, will be interested in how the cooling works out for you once you start driving it again. I have a 96 as well over here in NM. Looks like mostly stock cooling on mine except for the electric fan that replaced the mechanical fan, sounds like a turbo fan when its running but it seems to do the job, never gets above 210 for the most part. I haven't done anything to the cooling system, mostly drivetrain and suspension upgrades so far. Keep the content coming. 👍👍

    • @2AOverland
      @2AOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I appreciate you watching! I did go over the results of the upgrades in my last livestream but I’ll save you the watch time lol. Everything has been great! The jeep is actually running cooler than it did and has been alot more comfortable with some of my other upgrades.
      That’s awesome that your 96 is running cool also 😎 I always thought about doing an electric fan upgrade but the thought of it failing while out on a trip has always scared me lol.
      We’ll keep the vids coming so we can keep these old rigs on the road 😎

    Nice video and easy to understand, I’m using the same Thor intake and high flow pump rebuilt my 4.0 to a 4.7 last year and it’s been running great with the increased cooling did the dpg 2 row aluminum rad a few years back it’s a great upgrade but I think they stopped making it.

    • @2AOverland
      @2AOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the input :) I’m glad it’s working well for your 4.7. That or another 4.0 is the route I’m gonna go when this motor quits. Im using an AlloyWorks 3 row radiator currently and it’s been great. It’s been running 200ish this summer with a 195 t-stat and when it’s cooler outside it gets all the way down to 180 😬

    Great video, very informative and easy to understand. I do wish it showed you doing the actual instal, as I am a super amateur "mechanic" but I think I got it!
    I have a noob question. What's the benefit of the high flow parts? Does it make the engine run cooler? Getting too hot is always an issue with my jeeps. I've already bought the one you showed on the left. Would it be worth it for me to return it and buy the higher flow one? Thanks a lot man! I'm going to check out more of your videos.

    • @2AOverland
      @2AOverland  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you so much for watching! The high flow parts do make it run cooler, the stock thermostat housing is fine but the high flow housing doesn’t restrict the coolant flow compared to the stock one. If you haven’t bought the high flow one just use the stock one until you feel like switching it out

  • @Mauser1965
    @Mauser1965 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure if what pump and housing was put on mine. I could see that this could be a benefit as the pump would provide higher flow rate, but not so sure about the housing as it has a regulator called a thermostat. If the thermostat had a larger valve to allow a higher rate of flow that would be an important factor. On this type of system I like to drill a small hole into the thermostat valve to assist in eliminating any possible air pocketing in the housing on my previous 5.2 ZJ. I don't know if this would be something that could be beneficial on the 4.0. Yet I have come to appreciate the cooling system on my early XJ as it's different and I do not need to burp/bleed the system as the coolant expansion bottle sits higher than the rest of the cooling system. I can say that my girlfriends 4.0 '89 Pioneer here in the PNW doesn't have any cooling issue's on the over 300,000 mile engine. Yet I did install the proper switch in the radiator that is for the secondary fan, but has a manual switch if/when needed which is rarely used. Thank You for the content.

    Does it create higher water pressure in the system? Do I have to change the radiator cap for a different pressure? You done a great job with video.

    • @2AOverland
      @2AOverland  ปีที่แล้ว

      I really appreciate that! Thank you! The water pump does make higher block pressure between 0-3000 RPM’s but you don’t need a different radiator cap. I’ve been using the same one my radiator came with no issues.

    • @2AOverland
      @2AOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @motodweeb
      @motodweeb 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@2AOverland How does that temp compare to your previous water pumps (If you know)? Thinking about getting a Flowkooler for my XJ. She runs about 220 pulling hills in 95-100deg heat now. Even seen 230 once or twice on long, steep dirt roads and pulled over for a break. The rest of the cooling system was still factory parts dated '98 when I bought it so I'm sure it's time for a water pump.

  • @turbofc
    @turbofc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Did you notice any better cooling? I only get warm pulling grade. Does ot help?

    • @2AOverland
      @2AOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I haven’t been able to drive it to fully test it since I have it pulled apart for a future video. But it was idling cooler and I think the pump works best at lower rpm’s while crawling or driving slow. This is what it says on quadratec about the water pump. I hope this helps!
      “FlowKooler water pumps solve low-speed overheating problems by doubling the water flow rate at low RPM & idle. At 3,500 RPM the flow rate returns to normal to prevent excess water flow at high speed. Independent testing proves that FlowKooler water pumps produce 20% more gallons per minute at 2000 RPM & 100% more gallons per minute at 900 RPM than any other pump on the market today, including expensive racing pumps.”
