I think they have done a superb job by bringing a really technology to everyone at a very affordable cost
It's great that they have produced what looks like a high-quality shoe at a more realistic price. But the 2 things I really like about my Next% Mk1s are the light weight and softness. So I'm losing less energy to their inertia and reducing the shock loads on my legs and hips. I've never had a problem with stability either so for me I'll likely stay with Nike.
As a barefoot runner I don't understand shoes. They make your foot unable to work correctly and then they compensate it with things like a cushioning and a higher heel and now carbon plates??? The design of the foot is already perfect, you just need to learn how to use it the way it is meant to be. It's all marketing and about making money. And lets be honest 150 euro's is not affordable
Not even 3 months ago I started running from absolute zero with one-minute intervals. And just yesterday I ran for 36min in one go without dying. I even cought myself thinking about maybe trying a marathon in a few years. It's more fun than I ever thought possible! And you guys gave me a lot of helpful advice! Thank You!!!
You can 100% do a marathon- because I have! I started running in 2020 to lose weight as I was 15 stone (think that’s 205lb) anyway I started off running a 5k in 1 hour. I have got down to 27 minutes for 5k but I’ve run half marathons and the London marathon - running it again in a few weeks. Trust me if I can do it, anyone can!!!!!! You need a lot of mental strength to run a marathon but long as your trained reasonably well you’ll get there!
At age 30 and with prior history of no sports and sitting at the computer for entire days, my first run lasted 250 meters after which I thought I will spill my guts and die. A year and two months later I finished 5k in 21m 36s and my first marathon in 4h 12m. First running season is magical in that you see improvements every day and you get to do things that just couple of months before you thought were totally impossible. Just don't make my mistake and don't try to do too much too quickly. I paid the price in serious injury (inflamed achilles tendon) and had to quit running for a number of years. I think, for somebody that does not have any experience, it pays to get in contact with somebody who understands running and get advice as you go along your training. It is possibly going to save you a lot of problems as your body is stressed to adjust to the new lifestyle.
just did my 1st 10k race this year. Been following your channel for a couple of months now. I've downloaded your training plan both 10k and Marathon and watched a lot of videos in yout channel. You really helped me a lot. Today i already hit a sub60 10k @52:23 (PB) . Two more 10k's and 2 half marathons before this year ends. I didn't expect how much i shaved from my last 10k PB last was 1hr 4min in training.
Love my Alphaflys, but this looks like a good training shoe that will extend the life of the Alphas. For the price, I'd definitely give it a go. (Sneaker Lust is a real thing...😁)
I’ve loved learning about decathlon shoes and their goals of bringing quality running shoes to the market at a lower price point. I don’t know that I’d ever buy a super shoe but is interesting to learn about the choices made to bring them to market and to hear your comparison views. Thanks for sharing.
Preparing to run my first full London marathon in April! Ran a half last year and running a mile was difficult before that. Just last weekend I pushed a half marathon run out during training! Watching TRC has definitely helped progress and motivation to get out there and run. Im hoping to get a few friends involved and recreate some of the challenges that you guys have done
The more gear I get from Decathlon, the more I wonder why I shop elsewhere. Their run shorts and shirts are just brilliant. Their run belt is by far the best I’ve tried. I’ve avoided their shoes (and socks) due to concerns over durability. Seeing this comparison is surprising and exciting. Thanks for it!
Appreciate the comment I a fairly new runner and I'll be needing some winter running stuff soon. My summer shorts and t shirt were just cheap Karrimor stuff from sports direct and they're ok but definitely nothing fancy. I'll have to take a look at Decathalon.
I'm a great fan of theirs. When I started running I bought all my kit from there (which I still use). The basic running socks did me a good year. The leggings are great, you just have to chose carefully as some are thin and some have more durability, tshirts. better stop as will list most of the shop! I've used a lot of their stuff for trekking too. oh wait their trail running shorts have loads of pockets. I stop.
@@severiner7168 I can vouch for their socks. They last a year or a half worth of mileage. Pretty thin but comfy. They do tend to run hot in some shoes I wear. But overall, their stuff is great. Affordable running gear worth the price.
Decathlon’s philosophy has changed (in a better way) lately, back in the days their most focus was on the lower-end and more “general population” products, but recently I feel they are investing more on the higher end things with a mind of “let’s bring the good stuffs to a reasonable price point to meet the needs of more serious sports population”. Their bike lines, including the bike and bib shorts, their skateboard lines, both shows signs of this change. In the run line, it’s their KD800 shoe that completely changed my view towards their running products. The KD800 is their top running shoe before KD900X, it’s a kind of similar design, features a plate and Pebax foams, the only difference is the on the KD800 the plate is a composite material, but on KD900X it’s carbon. The mechanics and ideas are actually the same. I’m just so surprised with the performance of KD800, it’s fast almost immediately after put it on…. And you can feel the push from the leaf spring in the midsole….. actually it’s after this first hand experience that I was convinced that maybe carbon shoe could be a real thing for a guy like me. So I greatly recommend their higher end shoe lines, especially the KD800 and perhaps KD900X (I haven’t got one yet, but have a very positive feeling about it, from my experience of KD800).
Love the look of these shoes! It's really good to see more affordable versions of supershoes coming to the market, I didn't enjoy the premise of people getting competitively shouldered out of races if they couldn't afford the latest enhancing technology. Decathlon have managed to make the shoe look incredibly slick and I'm glad they match up performance-wise.
Good to see more affordable "super shoes" coming to the market. It is a shame how a relatively cheap sport is becoming expensive by the well known brands.
They're really not worth spending massive amount of money on unless you're looking to actually win a race. The Nike Alpha's only last about 100km anyway. I have 2 pairs of running shoes, one for trail, one for road and I buy on Klarna so it never feels like I'm spending a massive amount.
Thanks for the review Andy 👍 I was planning to look around Decathlon for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised to see this video pop up in my subscription feed 😀
New runner here! I just started in June and I am running my first half marathon on October 2! Your channel has been so informative and helped me so much. Thank you for what you do!
I appreciate seeing an affordable running shoe hit the market. Thanks for sharing the comparison and pro's/con's for this model - definitely worth a try.
Would love to try these. Great to see Decathlon going in at the top end and trying to make carbon shoes way more affordable. Fingers crossed they are just as fast.
It’s great that a company has thought about a cheaper alternative to the super shoes from Nike etc. especially with the cost of living being a massive challenge. Well done Decathlon 👍🏻

I can imagine them being a great budget option for many, and maybe even a training partner (like the Endorphin Speed). The firmness would put off somewhat for the full marathon, but I could imagine taking them on a 10k or half.
Really excited to see this shoe appear. Saw it in my Decathlon mailing list yesterday and The Running Channel have it covered already, that’s what I call response. Looking forward to trying it. I always feel guilty putting miles on my Vaporflys due to their cost so I tend to save them for races and rarely get to train high miles in them as a result. Great channel, keep up the great content.
Love Kiprun, been watching him race for years now! 😆 Seriously though, this was a great review as always. It would appear that Decathlon can still offer value for money, unlike energy and fuel companies!!
Affordable super shoes is something I dreamt of as a student. Right now I am on an exchange in South Korea, hitting the trails and hills in Seoul. But coming back a pair of super shoes would be an amazing upgrade. Thanks for a good channel!
I have always shopped at Decathlon on holidays and never thought to use them for everyday fitness use. Something to look into when deciding what new kit to buy, Thanks for reviewing these!
Really interesting to find out about these shoes, I had no idea before this review video that Decathlon had ventured into the super shoe market, now everyone at my running club will know too and watch when I send this around in our WhatsApps. Really good content as usual guys ! Really good to showcase a lesser known shoe as I’m sure many runner would never really think of trying them before.
Have been running for 2 years now and I'm really considering getting a pair of Supershoes but the prices are killing me. This might be the one. Keep up the great and fun videos team!!!
I just raced in my first 5k yesterday and this channel has been very helpful in educating me on running and training and all that goes into it. Also KD900X seems like an amazing option for nearly half the price of the Vaporfly
Been waiting for an unbiased review of these shoes since they were announced. Seems very positive, especially the flexibility of using them for varying paces. Thanks 👍
I'd love to try these out. I'm glad that your first impression of them is positive. I look forward to a more thorough review once you've put more miles on them.
Great to see a fair and balanced report of a new shoe. The more competition the top brands have the better as it pushes the boundaries even further but makes a Super shoe available to Intermediate and beginner runners
Just by looking at the facility and the technologies and effort being used behind the development of the shoes wins my trust. Finally, I can dream of running my first marathon one day in a super shoe if it is so affordable. Thanks for the review
Great video, thank you. I have never thought of buying a super shoe, I've been using NB 1080s v11s for the last year and love them, but they're not cheap either! It's great to see a potential option for a carbon-plated shoe coming in much cheaper. Would love to see more of these types of videos.
Your point around stability, is really interesting. I’ve just bought the Kiprun and they are firm, but not as hard as a few other channels made out, however you don’t have to run fast to get the best out of them like a Nike Next% or Tempo Next %
Thank you so much for this review Andy. It is very exciting seeing this super shoe from Decathlon and your assessment as a decent competitor in the market at such an affordable price thus giving a lot more people a chance to run in a super shoe. Thanks again and loved the review 👍
I think the first time i got wind of these were at a video of Kiprun having an exposition with this same shoe. Now it's out! Been a long time coming! Hopefully it comes to all Decathlon stores. Proud Kiprun owner, cant beat their value for money products, really.
I've only started getting seriously into running over the past year, and I am still trying to figure out which shoe is the best shoe for me/figuring out the differences between shoes. So videos like this are great! Thanks!
I just signed up for my first marathon. Being a trail runner I needed to buy some road shoes for the event, these may be what I need. I’ve already had Kiprun shoes before and they were great so I will definitely try them.
Just took delivery of my vapour fly 🙄 really excited to see a super shoe that is relatively affordable. Will definitely try these when I next buy a super shoe. Thanks for the review
Coming back to running after a serious injury stability has been a very important point, especially for my right side. These KD900X shoes sound like they are finally a super shoe that would work for me.
I might need to try these new decathalon running shoes! It's so nice to see affordable shoes, that I can buy without having to take out a load for nice comfy branded trainers
I totally agree with you on the alphaflys. I felt like I could only go at one pace with them on. I’ll definitely check these out and see if they’re a good option for me!
Great video, nice to see more affordable options. I agree on the comment that the Vaporflys can only be used at one pace and are unstable around corners
Cool to see other super shoes out in the market it’s very difficult sometimes to even find the Vaporfly in store not to mention the price glad the there are now so cheaper alternatives.
Great review Andy ! These shoes seem good for the price. I would love to try them on and see how they actually feel on a run. I’ve recently started running and loving it.
Very interested in trying these! Running shoes aren't cheap but it's good to know there is a super shoe more accessible to a wider audience of runners! Hats off Kiprun 👍🏼👟
It is all about image, therefor thank you for an honest opinion. The supershoes are way to expensive, but we all go along with it. Hope this will be a game changer. Good shoes for a fair price.
Great to see a similar trainer to the Vaporfly made for less and improved upon. Especially one which is slightly more firmer, which as much as I enjoy running in my Nike trainers, I do experience the roll rounding a corner. Look forward to trying a pair of these new trainers, hopefully Santa is good to me at Christmas! Thanks to the running channel for another fair, honest and well rounded review. Keep up the good work! 👍
I bought almost everything decathlon has, most of my running gear is from them except the shoes, tried the kiprun long 2, cheap daily, it's great for everything slower than 4:20/km pace. I'll try these out too one day.
So cool! That is a really great price point! Not far off from a nice pair or everyday running shoes. Definitely something I may consider as someone newer to racing.
Have to say, really, reaaally interested! I've started triathlon (after cycling only since I was 5 years old) and the run is definitely the part where i can gain the most. Shoes have been a focal point of my research into material and I never knew there was so much to know about them. These reviews help met a lot, so thanks for that! And to be in with the chance of winning a pair is amazing! As you kinda have to have a lot of gear when combining 3 sports... My main problem with carbon running shoes is durability though (especially taking into account their price point) so these might just be the best value for money option out there.. I'll be crossing fingers and praying twice-a-day so hope to get some good news!
Love the way that carbon plated technology has changed the quality of shoes that I now train in. My go to training shoes are the Saucony Endorphin Speed with the nylon plate to stabilise the shoe. We wouldn't have had this type of more comfortable and stable shoe a just a few years ago.
ordered my KDs just a few days ago and can't wait to take them to the road. I've been running decathlon kiprun shoes for a while now, the precursor UpBar convinced me beside the durability of the shoes. Planing on running the frankfurt marathon in the KD900X😀 (would love to habe a second pair or a PB Gift for my triathlon sons)
Great video, very interesting but perhaps not surprising that 4/5 years after the Nike 4% a non-premium product has been produced that mirrors it. Glad for the mention of the Endorphin Pro 3, which I picked up in July. A really great show
Excited not only to try them, but to see where Decathlon will go with future iterations of their super-shoes. The KD900X might not be perfect, but who knows next year what improvement there might be.
Only running less than a year but preparing for my first marathon, which is just 8weeks away now! The one thing I've found with running is the price of the supershoes, so constantly on the lookout for sales, these seem like a great option!
These look interesting! I’ve recently discovered the concept of the super shoe having just bought my first running shoes in a few years after time off. There’s so much out there!
What do you think of the KD900X??

I just signed up for my first marathon. Being a trail runner I needed to buy some road shoes for the event, these may be what I need. I’ve already had Kiprun shoes before and they were great so I will definitely try them.
Been waiting for these shoes to drop, really exciting to have a super shoe that’s affordable. Really want to try it out now!
Running my first marathon in Paris in April next year 🇫🇷 a pair of new super shoes would come in handy. Love the vids 😊
Wow 😯, this is really interesting. Thanks TRC team for sharing it with us 👍
Nice feedback. It's good to see some sensible priced competition to the crazy priced shoes. Here is hoping more companies follow suit.
Just took delivery of my vapour fly 🙄 really excited to see a super shoe that is relatively affordable. Will definitely try these when I next buy a super shoe. Thanks for the review
Very tempting, great video as always!
I've avoided supershoes due to cost but may now give them a try. Also liking the sound of a more stable shoe. Thank you for the video! 🏃♀️👟😃
I totally agree with you on the alphaflys. I felt like I could only go at one pace with them on. I’ll definitely check these out and see if they’re a good option for me!
It's nice to see Carbon super running shoes come out on the market. Thank you for the informative video.
Great review. Nice to see some more reasonably priced carbon plates on the market. Good to see some potential on the durability too.
I enjoy how this channel presents alternatives in every category.
Interesting review!! Always on the look out for affordable decent shoes!
Nice video in the jungle of supershoes.😊 I agree with Andy’s thoughts on the Vaporfly.
I miss Decathon, used to go in the UK and France when I lived in the UK. I will be wearing Saucony Endorphin Pro+ for my marathon this weekend.
As someone who is relatively new to carbon plated shoes it's nice to see there's a more reasonably priced carbon shoe available. Great review too
Good analysis. Keep up the great content!
Great review Andy ! These shoes seem good for the price. I would love to try them on and see how they actually feel on a run. I’ve recently started running and loving it.
Thanks for the comparison video. Always good info!
Based on this review, I think this will be my first pair of super shoes. Thanks for the details and in-depth information guys!
Another great video. Excited to try these shoes out.
Very interested in trying these! Running shoes aren't cheap but it's good to know there is a super shoe more accessible to a wider audience of runners! Hats off Kiprun 👍🏼👟
They look great. Certainly competitively priced with all the R&D gone into them. Wouldn’t mind taking them out for a spin myself.
Love this channel I started running after watching you guys much love 👍😁
Love the look of them, and half the price of the big brands is a great selling point at the moment. Great review 👏 👌
Intresting! Currently racing on the vaporfly next%2 but maybe I will pick the Kiprun up as well.
And if you need a new topic for a video, perhaps a durability check between the different supershoes? ;)
Loving the look of these, exiting to see new companies takes on the new era of super shoes
Thank yo so much!
Learn more every day thanks to you!
Really interesting video and food for thought for my next pair!
Love the way that carbon plated technology has changed the quality of shoes that I now train in. My go to training shoes are the Saucony Endorphin Speed with the nylon plate to stabilise the shoe. We wouldn't have had this type of more comfortable and stable shoe a just a few years ago.
Perfect timing. On way tomorrow to Decathlon to try them out. 😆 marathon in 6 weeks time. Thank you so much. 🚶🏃💃 😄😄
Great video. Can't wait to try these trainers. Thank you
Great Review thanks! Think I will have to get myself a pair soon!
Love this technical content. Not surprised to hear how good thr kipruns are.
Maybe similar content on clothing would be interesting
Thanks for the great suggestion Nathan! We'll see what we can do 😁 Any particular clothing line?
This review has definitely made me want to look into the kipruns. Carbon sole @ £130? Yes plz!
ordered my KDs just a few days ago and can't wait to take them to the road.
