My Mother's side, the Leonards, are from Athlone. My Mom was born across the street from the Castle and down the st. from St Peter and Pauls.

First time viewer of your channel. I agree that a well-kept town is a thing of beauty and rarity these days. Athlone ticks the box. Duly subbed.👍

We visited a couple of times in 2018. The castle museum is a must, and there are some lovely walks to be had. We hope to visit again, in these post Covid days.

Hello Phil. I was unlucky with visiting the castle, it was just closing. It's a lovely Town. Merry Christmas to you and your family.👍😊🎄🦌🎅☃️🍒

I missed you not showing what you had to eat, othewise very good video, other towns could take a few tips from Athlone, especially Kells which on last visit I found very grey and dull, we need more color in Ireland.

Don, you are sitting on the old sewage pipe structure. I used to fish for bream there. The town dump was behind you and the wool mills that burnt down was across the river where the flats are now. I left Athlone in 1990. It was a very grey and dull place in the winter. Not liek all the new buildings or the old ones that have been painted so bright.

Wow, that's a hard one to answer. Rent's are crazy over here. You both would want a combined wage of one thousand a week.
