We visited a couple of times in 2018. The castle museum is a must, and there are some lovely walks to be had. We hope to visit again, in these post Covid days.
I missed you not showing what you had to eat, othewise very good video, other towns could take a few tips from Athlone, especially Kells which on last visit I found very grey and dull, we need more color in Ireland.
Don, you are sitting on the old sewage pipe structure. I used to fish for bream there. The town dump was behind you and the wool mills that burnt down was across the river where the flats are now. I left Athlone in 1990. It was a very grey and dull place in the winter. Not liek all the new buildings or the old ones that have been painted so bright.
@@donstravelsandrants. Great video. You missed Michelin awards for kin koa the Thai restaurant it's the highest award a restaurant can get. They have two not many top restaurants in Ireland that have one. 🇮🇪👍

First time viewer of your channel. I agree that a well-kept town is a thing of beauty and rarity these days. Athlone ticks the box. Duly subbed.👍

Heya, nice video, could you plz tell me what is a decent monthly inhand salary (after Tax) one should earn to live a good life in Athlone as a couple?
Wow, that's a hard one to answer. Rent's are crazy over here. You both would want a combined wage of one thousand a week.
Home to a university, 1,000 years older than Oxford.
