According to Dr Stephen Porges polyvagal theory we have to come out of dorsal vagal freeze where we experience chronic physical symptoms, up the ladder into sympathetic fight flight where we feel activated before we can reach parasympathetic ventral vagal rest and digest where healing happens so that may explain the increase in anxiety. I also love the DARE response which is similar to somatic tracking over the stop brain rewiring technique’s
Helmut is great. I was on a Living DNRS class with him. I do his method now and then to elevate mood, all I need to do is watch his videos. I learn from his experience and I laugh like crazy and deep enough that my stomach muscles get a good work out, all in one. No need for laughter yoga!
Great guest! His journey and personality are closer to mine than any guests I’ve seen on your channel. Much of his recovery is how mine is going as well. I hope you get to have him back again.
Great interview, I have had the same experience with the method he described and the stop techniques not working. It took me 3 years of struggling with not much progress until my last year when I stopped being scared of the symptoms. Now I am well again.
Cognitive symptoms are the worst!! I’m getting better physically, but man the light and sound sensitivity, information processing from convos or reading, and the resulting headaches, etc. It’s tough! I got diagnosed with ADHD too and it has helped me understand how to do better with life in general and anxiety. Cool to hear about the Dare app! I used to do something that scared me every week a few years before this became serious. Definitely doing that again soon! Thanks for sharing.
I got an aha moment! Flare-ups/crashes are not a bad thing 🤯 To be at peace with them and use it for retraining... Needing them for retraining.. Wow. Ok this has finally clicked. Especially hard to do during PMS!! But here it goes! Thank you!!
It’s good to hear from this guest. Yes! Many forums boot out anyone speaking about brain retraining. DNRS was very helpful but yes it’s not always the end all and can create it’s own anxiety response he is calling OCD… I call a trigger of demand resistance. I truly had to come and do acceptance and surrender and get to a peaceful place with the Gupta Program meditations to be able to then go back to the DNR us and then do some more intensive body tension release. Each person’s recipe is a little bit different and so it’s really frustrating. If one program doesn’t want you to try other programs as well because that too, then feels like a control mechanism that increases anxiety.. Good interview. Lots of resources out there now and each one is a tool. Sometimes one program is someone’s complete answer but so often it’s a combination of different things.. Love this ❤❤❤. Still on the journey it’s been a long journey, but that’s OK
Wow! Never heard someone describe so well why we feel worse even though we know why we’re sick, and that that is a good thing because now we can signal safety. I always end up in emotional loops when my symptoms increase with exposure but now I feel like I can normalize that ❤ So helpful!
The way he describes DNRS is my experience too, it strengthens resistance when you are constantly saying stop stop stop and trying to get rid of thoughts or symptoms.
Congrats on your recovery Helmut! All those symptoms sounded like a nightmare for sure. Well done for persevering with your recovery strategies! I will check out your channel. Thanks once again, Raelan. 😊
Oh wow, I love his honesty and energy! He said it so well! I got a lot from this and I am smiling too! Funny because it's so true! Thanks, Helmut! xxoo Ava
I love this guy!!! So insightful and love his humor!!! GREAT INTERVIEW. Going to check out his channel when I get a chance, he seems awesome. LOL at the moderator ladies... thank you Helmut for making light of this in a humorous way.
So interesting - thanks for sharing Helmut! Got some great takeaways - I could definitely do with letting go of resistance too, thanks for your tips on the alarms. Great to hear what worked for you!
At the beginning of the video, he says that as the physical symptoms went away, he had OCD thoughts/ anxiety. He didn't explain how he got better? What did he do to overcome cognitive symptoms?
The allow and engage approach which he learnt from The DARE Response + doing his daily visualisations + doing his daily mood elevation (e.g. dancing in his room to 70s music). He talks about what he did in detail on his youtube channel. Regarding allow & engage, allow is allowing the sensations and/or thoughts to be there and then once you've been present with allowing for a little bit, then you engage in something you want to do whilst allowing the sensations and/or thoughts to come along with you if they want to.
I think he drove when he had made progress in his recovery journey. It depends on how severe a person is, some are in a dark room 24/7. But other can have days where they manage short drives.
Ahhh if we r gonna compare I don’t think I’d say cognitive symptoms r worse, blazing squeezing face pain and shoulder pain that fluctuate with weather changes r def the worst thing to experience worse than the most fiery anxiety that keeps me up all night and makes me scared of people. I’ll take anxiety over pain. Anxiety is kind of interesting and can work with it

How did you do your routine with all the symptoms 😮
I'm curious if you had post exertional malaise? Thanks for going into details, even if it can be embarrassing. ❤
You are my humour therapy. Thanks Helmut ❤
You are a pleasure to watch and a force of nature! Thank you Helmut! 💕🙏

'Helmut, it's just anxiety.' hahaha
I haven't even watched the interview yet. Just coming on here to say that Helmut's videos are the best! Super entertaining guy.
Helumut is Hilarious! I totally relate to the huge changes my life has undergone. I'm so so grateful for all parts of my life now
So good! 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Helmut and Raelan! My favourite youtubers :) Thank you for this. Amazing stuff.
❤❤❤
Too real about the support groups not supporting positive stories and recovery stories!

Everybody gets diagnosed ADHD today. Maybe because we are in a ADHD-world?! I wouldn't concentrate on this.
I got an aha moment! Flare-ups/crashes are not a bad thing 🤯 To be at peace with them and use it for retraining... Needing them for retraining.. Wow. Ok this has finally clicked. Especially hard to do during PMS!! But here it goes! Thank you!!
What an incredible aha moment, Stacey 🧡 🧡 You've got this!!!

I thought guptaand dnrs were super similar?
could you expand on what you mean by trigger of demand resistance?
Wow! Never heard someone describe so well why we feel worse even though we know why we’re sick, and that that is a good thing because now we can signal safety. I always end up in emotional loops when my symptoms increase with exposure but now I feel like I can normalize that ❤ So helpful!

Such a great point, vlox! Glad you found a way around this! 🧡 🧡
I love this guy! ❤

Oh wow, I love his honesty and energy! He said it so well! I got a lot from this and I am smiling too! Funny because it's so true! Thanks, Helmut! xxoo Ava
So true, Ava! 🧡 🧡
Oh I love this interview!! I am exactly at the moment where
My physical symptoms are been taken over by the mental ones
golden tips in this interview! just great😍🥰
Glad it was helpful, Janine! 🧡 🧡
Raelan, you are very good at what you do, great interviewer. ❤
Awesome inspiration man. Thanks Raelan we can all do it 😊✊
No doubt, Gabriela! 🧡🧡
Great interview, thank you both!

I’ve found this perspective really interesting!
Glad you think so! 🧡 🧡
‘The setbacks and the shitshows inbetween’ love it!
Bit of a character! I love the variety of people being interviewed and the many ways they find recovery ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! 🧡 🧡
I always get something out of these interviews 😊
So interesting - thanks for sharing Helmut! Got some great takeaways - I could definitely do with letting go of resistance too, thanks for your tips on the alarms. Great to hear what worked for you!
Glad you found it helpful! 🧡 🧡
Love this! I combined gupta/Lightning process with Rebecca Tolin's work. Worked a charm! Also, I'm Canadian too! Live in BC
Amazing!
Are you doing Rebecca’s self paced course? How are you finding it compared to Gupta?
Wow good on him!
I love putting humour into it ! 👍😄💛 so good. Thank you, you rock! 😘
🧡 🧡 🧡 🧡 🧡
Nice Telecaster Helmut - is it vintage?
I hope Helmut sees this. Same! I had diverticulitis and a year or so later was off the rails. I think it’s the antibiotics that sets it in motion.
Thank you. Great interview!
What is DNRS? Thank you.
You'll find info on DNRS and a link in the description below the video. 😊
Rice is only thing which protected me in my bad time, as an Asian its easily available too

@@sheridanbeverley9173 thank you :)
70's music yes!
Baseline miserable, haha I was like that for years too
What is a good DNRS program to try?? Having a hard time figuring out which one would actually work
He mentioned his car - can one drive a car with severe ME/CFS?
I think he drove when he had made progress in his recovery journey. It depends on how severe a person is, some are in a dark room 24/7. But other can have days where they manage short drives.

From his name I guessed he is German😅
same
He didn't had PEM right?
He talks about his flares - PEM, flare, crash, all the same, an increase of symptoms.
Daily exorcisms. I thought it was just me!!!
