    Great video. We ended up building our complete exhaust. We went with Borla xr1 3in with track hawk carbon tips. Cant wait till you get some passes at the track.

      Nice! I went to the drag strip for the first time and immediately ran some new personal bests! Did your guys setup end up shaving some et off your time slip?

      @@TrackPackRT we run about the same as we did last year. I added another racing seat. We went all dot tires for certian classes.

    Awesome job man. Be interesting to see what effect it had on the dyno.

      It’s definitely making some more power, my first time out at the drag strip with the setup has shown me that!

    Here’s a fun fact about Borla. Their first gen cat backs for the RT was replaced. The second gen has the resonator near the tips. They did not put the first gen on sale unless….you knew how to look. I googled the first gen part # and Lo and behold, selling for ( I don’t remember exactly) $653. The gutsy gen from Touring up to Atak all shared the exact same part #s for the cat back. The mufflers the only difference. I had the Mopar brand cat back made by Borla I got for $400. I got the S type mufflers ( same as the catback) for $100. Broken in and nice and polished. Local shop $75 to install. The end. Borla S type + headers= Atak. No drone.

      Wow $75? No place around here would likely touch it for at least a few hundred! Was your shop a front owned by the mafia? Haha. Lots of guys really like the Borlas.

    I had a similar problem with the midpipe reducing down to a smaller size that tied into the catback system. What I did was cut off the reduced portion of the midpipe and installed a ball and socket flange to connect the midpipe to the rest of the exhaust system. I added small tack welds on the clamp that connects the ball to the socket. It works and just goes to show there is more than one way to skin a cat. One thing I liked about the way you did it is that you didn't need to weld under the car. For me that wasn't a problem because I have a lift that raises the car about 20". I love that thing because it gives me about 24" or 60cm or more of space under the car. It was $1100 USD well spent. When it comes to the weld bead being large, that tends to happen when using flux core wire.

      Oh man some more space under the car would be great! I’m jealous!

    That's awesome man! I have a Magnaflow with my long tubes as well and I love it. My install was a bit more complicated than yours, I envy the ease!

      It’s a great performance exhaust sound!

    I had the same issue when installing my catback. It was designed to fit to the 2.75 inch midpipes, but my headers came with 3 inch midpipes. I ended up using the other 2.75” connectors that came with the headers. It came with 3” to 2.5” and 3” to 2.75” connectors

    Good job 👍. Definitely sound very healthy, powerful. . Stock exhaust was to quiet even with your headers.
    I run 3” on my Trans Am . Built it myself . Bought all the pipe from Summit Racing . Cut and welded. Also purchased their 3 inch brand SS mufflers.

    IMO, It actually sounded better before the change, reason being the X pipe the Magnaflow comes with increases the pitch level of the sound. That is irrelevant though in your search for more HP gain from the swap so did you get more HP from the 2.50" to 3.00" swap or not? So are you going to make another video to fully cover that?

      There was something about that stock exhaust that I really liked after the cam install. When the cam went in it got bassier and deeper. Having said that, the magnaflow just has a “performance exhaust” type sound. It really does turn some heads. I haven’t been back at the dyno yet but I have a video coming of my first time out at the track with it which yielded a new personal best, it definitely added some ponies.

    Why magnaflow?

    • @TrackPackRT
      @TrackPackRT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I liked the sound more than other catbacks I had heard. I’m not a fan of the high end rasp that a lot of catbacks seem to have, the type that’s very present when guys do a resonator delete to the stock setup. Magnaflow has a “smoother” sound if that makes sense.
