Great video and breakdown of parts supply chain - agree with your points. I ultimately sold my 2009 Pontiac G8 because parts were becoming a major issue. But those sold in really low volumes. Not the case here.
Right? Pontiac had some great cars!
Love your channel, I just picked up a “like” new 2009 Challenger R/T from a guy in Sherwood park. I’ve been patiently waiting for the gravel to be cleared off the roads before taking it out this spring. Keep up the great content!
No kidding! That’s where I grew up! The wait for the clear roads will be worth it, I’m impatient myself. 😂
My RT is a 2016. I should he ok on parts for a while. Im sure aftermarket will be made for older models
Definitely. Nothing to stress about. 💪
Good assessment
Love the content and the challenger. We pretty much have the same car. To bad your not in Texas, i definitely could learn a thing or two from ya.
I appreciate it man! Keep your car pristine and feel free to reach out if you need any help down the road. Cheers!
13:13 I think you are right, despite some of the downer comments here. But I do understand the concern, considering the average car has 5000 parts and legacy auto makers are trying to make a transition to EV cars after watching TESLA successfully do it. IMHO, the Dodge LX platform and beyond was so popular there will be aftermarket and refurb parts coming for a long time. I have been collecting some parts for a while now, rubber door trim, panels, etc.. But you can't collect all of it, unless you buy a complete duplicate donor car, LOL. So long as machine shops, forging foundry's and auto manufacturing exists somewhere in the world, we will be OK. The additive manufacturing industry (3D printing) only helps going forward!
Well said!
I also have a 2009 R/T many parts for it are also discontinued.
Can get almost th same power and vs th cost I'd build my 5.7. I'm at 610wheel with my sbe 5.7 with cam and 8lb of boost..great vid and keep it going.
Great numbers man! There’s definitely something special about a cammed 5.7 for sure! 💪
Power steering pump for 08,09,and 10 are available from turn one out of Michigan.
I think it was last year that I saw the post where the gentleman was having a hard time finding a pump. Thanks for sharing! 🙏🏻
No luck with Rock auto for a 2007 front bumber, I'm trying to restore a 2007 jeep grand cherokee SRT8 with no luck for parts.
Hmm that’s a little more tough. My father in law runs a body shop I could ask about their parts suppliers for you.
@TrackPackRT I've been looking for ever you could ask for me thanks.
I have a 2007 jeep grand cherokee SRT8 I need a front bumber for it, bumber has been discontinued, nothing available for it many parts if not all for this jeep are no longer available yet you can buy brand new bumpers for a 55 Chevy go figure.
Short answer is no. None of the "big three" will be making parts for ICE vehicles as they transiton into EV's. My 2012 ZL1 ran out of parts shortly after the the last 5th gen Camaro was prouced in 2015. Dodge actually ran out of parts before production was even completed in 2023 and customers were greeted with surprises like wheels they did not order when they went to pick up their new HC. Take it or leave it was the option provided. I would have told them to give me my deposit back and then I would have told them to jam it up their Axx. Would have then gone and purchased a pre owned 20-22 model or switched to another vehicle. Fortunately there are so many of the exact same thing that junkyards will have many Hellcat parts covered for a long time. For things like gaskets, seals, fasteners, etc it will be a crapshoot. Rear diff seals for my Camaro have not existed for a couple years now. It's coming.
Supply chains after Covid have been brutal. My FILs body shop is still having a very hard time getting parts.
Your Camaro is in a tough spot, outside of factory production but before the aftermarket has jumped on board. I’m in the same boat with my 09. Here’s hoping more parts become available aftermarket soon. 🤞🏻
The other reason not to buy anything newer than 2017 is due to 2027 over the Air Online UpDate to Load in the Speed Limit Control...Never buying Electric Vehicles V8's for ever 👨🏻👍🏻🏎🏎🏁🏁🚩🚩
