Perfect! Easy and logical. Nice 'trick' with the vacuum. See exactly the same problem on Honda CRVs, the compressed wire mesh gaskets rot out all the time 🙂
On my 2010 Outback, it was the "variable valve lift diagnosis oil pressure switch" (one on each side) that was leaking oil. Smelled like propane until I replaced it.
since spraying soapy water all over my exhaust to locate the exhaust leak, i smell a dish-detergent kind of smell mixed with exhaust now when its defrosting, any way you guys could do a follow up video for that?
I just had a brand new high quality exhaust put on my car and after a few weeks of driving noticed a gas smell in the car when turning on heat or ac. The car is almost 16 years old, but it wasn’t long after the new exhaust was put on, so it’s hard to say if it’s a coolant leak or something with the exhaust. Do you have any tips? I highly doubt there would be any holes in a brand new exhaust.
I have toyota corolla 2009. I do feel like there is some fumes getting inside the cabin some how. It is odorless. I don't smell anything but I feel the allergy. I started dry caughing. some skin irritation and throat irritation. I believe it is somehting. Went to mechanic, he checked said everything is fine. Changed the cabin filter but still i feel it. It all started after some one hit my rear bumper on the driver side. Any advice please.
My problem with the exhaust smell coming in via defroster, that operation opens the plenum or whatever part that diverts the air, from what I normally run “recirculate in the cabin” to “use air from outside” and I smell exhaust, skunk, whatever the heck pooopersville from outside. Does this not go through the cabin air filter? Gah! I’m always switching the defrost on and then off and closing the outside air to recirc.
Anti-seize never goes on the female threads, every time I see a video about automotive does somebody doing something really stupid. That anti-seize goes on the threads of the O2 sensor only

Sue is the best!
Love the shop vac trick
That’s a nice trick instead of using your hands and feeling for a leak potentially burning them
Awesome informatio & tutorial.

+@imakedookie We do not have a video for this repair right now, but we'll keep this request in mind for a future video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Can you spray the pipe down with an undercoat?? to get it to last longer in the rust belt like me in Massachusetts

What a woman!!!❤❤❤❤
can you do the shopvac process to the engine bay?
I am assuming that a leak in exhaust will cause Check engine light....
What if you only smell exhaust fumes on idle without recirculation of ac on?
is it okay if i only smell it on the other ones ? i dont smell it on defrost

I don’t smell exhaust when there’s no cars/trucks running in front of me.
Catalytic converter is rusted but the bolts are not🤔
Nice!

What if you smell exhaust when the vehicle is floored on the highway
