  • ( www.TFLtruck.com ) The 2015 Lincoln Navigator and the 2015 GMC Yukon XL are two luxurious truck based SUVs that will easily seat 7 or 8 people. These are two big and brawny people-hauling, trailer-towing and budget-stretching SUVs. But which one of these brutes is faster from 0-60 MPH and which one is faster in a straight up drag race? Just watch this video to find out.

    The drag race wasn't a surprise to me. With the XL being heavier and both being over a mile above sea level I expected the outcome. Both nice trucks. I'd drive either if they were free because that's the only way I could get one.

    2022 and Yukons are still everywhere but, I hardly ever see any Navigators on the road. GM still using the 6.2 and 5.3 in 2022. These Yukon XL are still going for good pricing all these years later. That’s says a lot.

    the GMC doesn't have better brakes. The Lincoln was traveling at a faster speed and it is heavier. that means it takes longer to slow down. You guys just had to find SOMETHING bad about the Navigator to make this comparison sort of equal (Cup holders). The Lincoln is obviously the better one in this review.

    no replacement for the twin turbo ecoboost. This engine is extremely capable of producing even greater hp and tq only with a little tune. The final statement about the less-expensive alternatives is true… and I cannot stand the Navi's penis-looking muffler dangling in the rear. Should be integrated in the bumper. But the Navi is the clear winner. Cheers.

    Ford has done a tremendous job with the Ecoboost engines.The F-150 has out pulled and out accelerated the Silverado and Ram with the 6.2 liter and Hemi V8s..Ford does need to tune their brakes a bit better tho but that shouldn't be that hard.

      Mike Samra um...ok?? I thought we were taking about power and speed, but um, sure....top rated AMI is a Toyota Camry. GM scores 3 in the top 10, ford scored zero.
      www.autoblog.com/photos/cars-com-2015-american-made-index/
      Again...nothing to do with this video or my comment...but why not. I've owned Ford's, GM's, Toyota's, Chrysler's, and I've had a problem with only 1 company on reliability, which was Chrysler (specifically jeep). Once you take off the fan boi glasses, it's a very competitive field where basically everything is equal in virtually all classes, just pick the one that floats your boat and smile.

      I agree with what you are saying but I was just adding that in about the F150 being the most American full size truck and the Tundra being right close to it..I live 20 minutes from Flint,the birthplace form GM and a lot of people look upon them badly because of taking billions and then filing bankruptcy anyway..I have also owned all three and I haven't had issues with any of the brands..Of course I teach auto electronics and emissions and the automatic and drive lines class in the spring so that do I can take care of things when they happen but haven't had much issue to.
      I also have issues with Ford taking plants to mexico to build cars. My Mustang is made here as is the Lincoln but that's it as far as cars go and that's not good either.

    Depending on how the seats are configured and whether you have the rear seat center console there is anywhere from 7 to 9 cupholders in the Navigator. So there is always at least one available for every passenger. Is the problem there are none in the door for left handed drivers?

    @tfltruck the reason I believe the trunk test didn't work out is because using both remits at the same time confuses the signal read by the cars essentially mixing the signals together. I could be wrong on that

      The Fast Lane Truck You guys need to stop being so rude to your fans, all he did was ask where the review was because in this video Nathan says you already saw it on your channel. You dont have to immediately become hostile. I have watched every video you guys have posted on both your channels, and read many comments, and i appreciate the information you give, but you guys are really short tempered to your fans....when every any one asks about a video you explode at them like " do you even know how hard it is to make videos?!" Just calm down, not everyone knows your schedules.

      @lonespartan31289 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      i dont have a problem with how they upload, or their content, this is one of my favorite channels, the problem is how they respond to feedback from their community. They are very quick to get annoyed with people, even when someone points out a fault, they just get mad at the person instead of saying either nothing, or correcting the error. Maybe they just have an editor that answers comments on youtube and is a dick sometimes, but it would be better to just ignore people than to post negative things towards them. This isn't the best example, but i recall one time when they literally told someone to fuck off...thats just unprofessional from a channel of this quality.

    • @kidcanada5
      @kidcanada5 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it is understood that The Fast Lane Truck 's response to this comment was sarcastic, and I have no problem with that. I was simply wondering if they forgot to post it, considering they posted a video, then posted a preview for that video after. I agree with LoneSpartan that they can be rude occasionally; especially when dealing with haters/trolls - and being rude with those kinds of people gets nowhere! If you want a laugh, and learn how to deal with haters, go to @nenshi on twitter, and see how the Mayor of Calgary, Canada deals with his - I promise if you look for a bit you will have a good laugh. GO TFL Truck!

    The denali at sea level would obliterate the ecoboost. Its always been that way anything with turbos at a mile above sea levels will always have an advantage due to the turbos forcing air in than with the big v8 trying to suck in what it can.

  • @Navi-eh7bs
    @Navi-eh7bs 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Denali is more edgy looking and the Navigator is more understated. All suv ' s this size are necessarily just big boxes on wheels though so I'd take the box that has a better drivetrain, ride, luxury amenities, visibility and towing capability and that is the Navigator. If I had money to burn I might have gotten an Escalade which is on another level from these trucks in terms of looks but quite a bit more expensive and probably not as practical or comfortable as the Navigator. Although still not cheap the Navi is practical for my needs (boat, kids, around town, vacations). Seems to me a truck that rides and handles more like a car but still has all the same truck capabilities is the better deal although I do understand the appeal of flashy v8 trucks and hotrods. I think the Navigator is way cooler looking than any crossover. It is big and bold although maybe not as much as the GMC or Caddy.

  • @prybarknives
    @prybarknives 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    As a side note, I pull an 8k lb. travel trailer all around the country with that navigator. Up and down mountains, etc. The engine braking was the only thing the gmc did better (we had a Yukon before). The navigator far outperformed the gmc pulling up hill AND had trans overheating issues... while the Ford offering has never come close to overheating, even up steep grades on hot days.

      I prefer a little bit of bias and personal opinion on reviews. The style of reviews out there that I can't stand are when they just give you the facts like they are reading from an encyclopedia. That said, I do think they guys on FLC/FLT try much to hard to be neutral and not call a spade a spade when it clearly is. They just did a Passat review where Nathan inserted a compliment about something every time he had to say something negative about the car. Unbiased is cool but you end up with no strong feeling either way.

    • @notasolution
      @notasolution 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's ok to have an opinion, just don't be biased and pick on the better suv and try to make it look bad by saying things like "it doesn't have cup holders in the drivers door" and " the remote doesn't open the back glass" just because ur a fan of a brand. He just took cheap shots at the navigator and made a big deal over very small differences that wouldn't even matter to anyone else and that just aggravates me

    • @kevinalan1335
      @kevinalan1335 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Like I said Nathan seems to have an inability to call it as it is without playing devils advocate. The door holders are never filled with anything other than garbage and empty cans when you need to clear space in your center cup holders. He not biased as much as he is trying miserably to give the Yukon redeeming qualities because he had to put it down. His catchphrase should be the adverb "However".

    • @davidworkman9
      @davidworkman9 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. I don't want my cupholder in the door I want in in the console. He didn't even show inside the navigator but my f150 has two cupholders for the backseat in the console. I watched this and the GMC towing test and they never said anything or showed any footage of the navigator at all. I wouldn't even call this a comparison it was just a review of the Yukon.

  • @Elemino
    @Elemino 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I like both trucks, and as a current owner of an '05 Navigator, I definitely think this Navigator looks better than the model replaced ('07 to '14). But IMO, the best looking SUV right now is the '15 Escalade.
    And thank you for pointing out why these are trucks. I talk to so many people that don't understand why these are trucks and their CRV isn't.

    • @noblekitty
      @noblekitty 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      CRV is unibody. But then there are unibody trucks as well. i.e the Honda Ridgeline, or the new Ford Ranger being sold around the world, but not in the US. So what is the true definition of "truck"? is the Ridgeline a truck? LOL! Jeeps, new Explorer, new Pathfinder, Honda Pilot, GM small SUVs...all are unibody.

    • @Elemino
      @Elemino 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't say anything about unibody. A CRV has a car engine, car transmission, car differential, car suspension, shocks, wheels, etc. Nothing is heavy duty on one, they are tall cars. Hell, I've owned cars with beefier drive train and suspension than a CRV.

    • @noblekitty
      @noblekitty 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Elemino Musgrove There are midsize trucks that come with the engine size just like the CRV, FYI. CRV is clearly not a "heavy duty" SUV, hence no need of all the heavy duty stuffs. But that doesn't make it "not" a truck. By your logic, if the Yukon is a truck, what do you call the semi and big rigs? All I am saying is, the automotive world has evolved. There are so called SUVs that are front wheel drive based. There are 4x4, 4wheel drives, all wheel drives... and they are all so closely similar and blurred now, i'd just go with whatever the car maker calls them.

    • @Elemino
      @Elemino 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      SB N more of a cross over than anything. Trucks are made for hauling and towing. A Yukon or Navigator with the proper hitch will tow roughly 10,000 lbs. While a CRV could probably tow a motorcycle, so can most cars. They are strictly people movers, they aren't designed for off road use, you wouldn't haul anything heavy inside one, and you wouldn't tow anything heavy with one. Therefore it is not a truck.

    • @noblekitty
      @noblekitty 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Elemino Musgrove That's what I've been trying to point out in the last 3 replies. There are small, mid size and full size trucks. Then there are the light duty, medium duty, semi, big rigs...they are all trucks. Small truck tow/haul smaller/lighter stuffs. But that doesn't make them any less truck.
      Just because an S class Benz can carry 5 big adults comfortably, and the A class can only do 2, doesn't mean we start calling the A-class a golf cart. We call the S class a full size "sedan" and the A class a sub compact "sedan".
      I said before, the automotive world has evolved so much, and cater to so many different taste of buyers, it's hard to distinguish which is which some times.

    They're OVER a mile above sea level. The HP loss in that GMC has to be insane. and the lincoln's turbos negate all that loss. Proving an advantage? Sure. BUT, that still makes the validity of this test like... nonexistent. Run em at sea level; lets see a real contest lol

    Escalade OWNER here ! Don't get the Escalade or Yukon my truck has had countless visits to the dealership for lots of common problems on these SUVs rear visibility is horrible very small windows and big pillers and even worst at 58k miles my truck interior is falling apart the dash and center console screen stoped working completely the leather I literally fading with regular suny days to the point I realize its fake leather and wood !!!!. Every time I hit a bump my truck squeaks really bad like an old truck. My brother has a 2019 navigator and that truck is like fking Rolls-Royce on steroids he hasn't gotten any problems with it other than he lost both keys and tinted the headlights and damaged them both but it was his fault.

    if you want to solve the GM mirror issue, go buy the tow mirrors for 2014+ year models and put them on yourself. they are really nice, and I think you can still get the BLIS on them. I'm not sure about that but I think so

      The 2014 mirrors were also dinky and too small. Plus putting the rounded 2014 mirrors on the new car would look terrible.

    I don't like where the reverse light is on the Navigator.. I'm a little picky on vehicles. I don't know why Lincoln just didn't put it in the white space above the current location of them. I'm rather have a 2007-14 Navigator over this, but I would also take a 2015 Expedition EL Platinum over the new Navigator also.

    Nathan , despite all the negative comments below about how its idiotic to criticize a family/people hauler for having next to useless door pockets I completely understand where you're coming from . I have family with kids (toddlers ) and believe me it helps having more spacious door pockets now the gmcs don't look that big but certainly way better than what ford offers. Never the less that would not be an issue for me between these two SUVs . my biggest complaint is the hideous design of the Lincoln man that thing is UGLY ! In the looks department Cadillac escalade >GMC Yukon >almost anything else on 4 wheels> Lincoln navigator

    Entertaining though it may be there is no real information to be had here, first and foremost it would have to be the Yukon not the XL for it to be a genuinely competitive comparison. That being said , even during the last run where the vehicles were left and rear wheel drive the guy driving the Navigator spooled up the engine Before the Race, he did this because he was trying not to lose. Which makes sense from a driver standpoint, however it does not give a genuine indication of what would happen in the real world. most drivers do not sit at the red light with their foot on the gas and the break at the same time , even less people who are driving $70,000 SUVs so buying such a large SUV with a small displacement engine and turbochargers , there is most definitely going to be turbo lag in the real world. On top of which most people do not live a mile above sea level where the engine in the Yukon would be far less labored on a daily basis. me personally, I would not want to own a turbocharged V6 in a 3 ton SUV out of warranty.

    • @Lucky8s

      Richard Wachtel So putting 225 more pounds onto the front of the Fiesta won't cause any problems? And do you really think a V6 is going to fit in there?

    • @Dr_Monitor
      @Dr_Monitor 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      WuWei Xu if people can fit a GM LS1 into a Honda Civic, I'm pretty sure an EcoBoost V6 could be shoe-horned into a Fiesta. If not that, at least a Focus.
