I use a Beyerdynamic tg V50. The sound is pretty close to the sm57, but I think the pickup pattern is a bit narrower, because it seems to reject the hi-hats a bit better. In this test I think the Beyerdynamic was my favorite, it was a bit brighter and would cut through a wall of sound better. Depending on the music style and what you want/need/like, of course.
Cool compare, thanks! Out of those you recorded I actually think the i-5 sounded the best in context of the whole kit followed closely by the M-201 and Snare Mic. That said, they all sounded great. I have all of these mics -- I've never used a 421 on snare but have used all the others for various recordings. I'll say this, you can achieve a great snare sound with any of those mics. The things that impact the end result most are -- the drum itself, tuning, placement and of course the player. Which Gretsch snare are you using in the demo?
Ehrlicherweise klingen sie im Mix ja fast alle identisch, oder?! Da würde ich doch beim Klassiker SM57 bleiben. Welches übrigens auf Toms auch passabel klingt.
i really liked them all, except the audix witch sounded to artificial to my ears. I expected a more extreme difference between the Lauten and the rest. Great comparison i waited ages for 🙂
I use an old trusty SM57 myself, but in this video the Beyerdynamic sounded best to me.

Thank You So Much!
Audix sounds perfect 👌🏼
Glad you included the Lauten, really missed the lauten tom mic in the tom comparison video.

Shure SM 57 and also have SE Electronics V7 X dynamische instrument microfoon.
SM57, by all means. ❤

Sontronics?
Yeah so I don't hear what in the price of that Lauten justifies the price. It's like 3 times the price of the others.
I think the idea is that it's designed to minimize hihat/cymbal bleed in a full mix.
