- Newly-appointed Police Minister, Senzo Mchunu, says he's determined to address violent crime in the country. South Africa is battling escalating criminality, with over 1,8 million severe and violent crime counts recorded in the 2022/23 financial year. Criminologist, Dr Hendrick Lochner unpacks the task ahead of the police minister.
Tune into Newzroom Afrika DStv channel 405 for more.
As long they think that policing is road block, nothing will change.
Fake it till you make it
nothings going to change!!!
I wish Senzo was cop in past life.
I just don't think he is going to solve any problem faced saps this one. Because he did nothing in his former post
No hope in the ANC ministers
And they have proved for 30 years that they re useless.
Why is the MINISTER doing this.
Where is National Commissioner? Is he on holiday or just useless?
Wait, dont answer that.
HE MUST START DEALING WITH A CORRUPT POLICE NO1 GININDA AND ZUNGU IN SENZE’S MEYIWA CASE , AND WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT THABO BESTA TALKING ABOUT WHEN HE SAID THE ARE PEOPLE IN THE PALACE WHO ARE INVOLVED IN HIS CASE, AGAIN START WITH POLICE WHO ARE CORRUPT THANK YOU 🙏
true they must build a new special unit that deals with corrupt cops
I sincerely hope that our new Police Minister includes old voices (yes, from the old police force) to reshape, rebuild and staff our police services in order to effectively deal with crime. The current state of lawlessness in our country demands it. The corruption and laziness of our police is absolutely a reflection on our society which is broken.
People need jobs. And here we sit with the failed Parks Tau (look at Gauteng that he was Premier of for decades! It looks like central Africa, filled with foreigners - no go areas for South Africans!). The man is now Minister of Trade and Industry! We're tired of these failed communist cadres in our politics! We are a democratic state but because of the ANC, are being ruled through communist ideologies and unfit and incompetent comrades. Gauteng doesn't have a chance in hell, crime will continue to explode. We're being run by the Alex Mafia. Eff'n hell!
How about just tackling regular lawlessness and crime? Start small before you make big promises that history shows won't be fulfilled. The trending crime is general lawlessness and not enforcing the laws. If they start out with ill discipline that would go a long way to getting action out of these corrupt, useless departments.
Problem lies with Ramaphosa, if he held his ministers accountable, the ministers would hold those under him/her accountable. Ramaphosa allowed Bheki Cele to stay in a job he should left soon after he was made minister.
Can someone tell him to focus on corruption at the police stations vecause it is really out of control.
Otherwise he will never make any impact on the crimerate in this country.
Exactly my brother. Our Police have zero desire to fight crime because they are part of the syndicates, they benefit from it.
@@4mileseast478 Why risk life for peanuts as salary?
@@Official_Baba_yaga That's the job they signed up for by their own volition.
@@w.s1097 Now its getting skewed. I raised the issue of PAY/SALARY and here you come talking about CONSENT.
@@Official_Baba_yaga No it's still relevant because they knew the salaries and all the risks involved and signed up for it.
Change strategies
I have zero hope on this cabinet!!
Mchunu won't do any difference.. his record gives me no confidence in him.. he is like Cele
Station commanders are useless in most saps stations
Cele was not sepose to be a Minister he had no experions
Mutch better Training is needed
Why was the Aria kommisioner in KZN not apointed TO THE MINISTER OFF SAPS
@@user-pv4qx3tt4e Gen Mkhwanazi is a Career Policeman and not a politician, hence he was not appointed as Minister.
why are they not appointing an exp police captain to this position, if you are going to appoint someone appoint someone who is an expert in that field.
Feel free to tell us how many ministers are an expert in his or her field ....
Domkop !!!!
@@truth-Hurts375 the only dom person is you who doesn't understand my question, what does a politician know about law what do they know about health what do they know about education this is foolish there are highly trained people in those fields who knows how things work and can do a far better job than what these politicians can do.
For mina Senzo Mchunu is too soft for this position.
😳
Wrong minister...should have been from another party...
He will sweep the corrupt ANC cadres' wrong doings under the carpet..
Grow a fucking brain....we are talking about crime on the streets here....
Dom Doos !!!!
He mentions discipline, the police regiments can't salute and bring their hands down in a single motion, and look at the image with so many big bellies....... This is embarrassing!!!!!
Take back all old policemen that can still work up to age 69 good old boy s
I have charges of rape on Christmas Day
