    I just did a video on R5 user experiences R6 Mark II. I have the R5 R7 RP and R8. I use the R5 and R7 daily in the field for wildlife and bird photography. Then I use my R5 for portraits and weddings. A few weeks back a friend of mine that owns an Amazon resale store got a mint condition R6 Mark II and sold it to me stupid cheap. Waiting for the R5 MarkII I figured worst case scenario I can play with it for a few days make a review and then sell it. The very first night I took a picture of my dog in the dark with ISO 25,600 and it was amazingly Sharp!! I am now probably selling the R7 which has horrible low-light capabilities because of the crop factor and then which even Canon has openly admitted has autofocusing issues especially shooting fast shutters. I can honestly say I have experienced that numerous times. But the R6 Mark II is definitely going to stay in my camera bag. I also paired it up with the 500 mm F4 for some Eagles and Osprey this weekend. Only to still be amazed at the sharpness, clarity, and overall great picture from the R6 Mark II. Plus the autofocus is a beast. I really love having this side by side with my R5!! Don't get me wrong I absolutely love my R5 and it will always be my number one camera. Lastly, at the moment used R5's with low shutter counts are going for about $2,500. Which isn't that far off from the R6 Mark II. I saw a used R5 on Marketplace the other day for $2200!! Soo you cant go wrong woth eother camera imo

      It certainly can't handle 25,000 or even close, but for what it is (APS-C) the R7 can easily handle 3200, 4000 and even 5000 ISO. Not bad compared to even a few years ago. The added "reach" in decent light makes it a worthy tool to have in my opinion.

      The only issue is when you're shooting Wildlife the autofocus has major issues. I've shot probably over a hundred thousand images on that camera. 16-hour days in the snow and the rain in the mud. Whether it's nasty out or beautiful the autofocus will go past the subject Ford Focus before the subject while you're using the focus tracking. Canon he's even admitted that it does have focusing issues. I know lots of Pros that have tried this camera and they have has myself very good days and very bad days especially compared to something like the Canon R5 or R6 or even R6 Mark ii. I also purchased the R8 which has a far superior auto focus than the Canon r7. The R7 is a good camera but if the autofocus was spot on like it was supposed to be in my top 5 cameras. I bought it specifically as a backup to my Canon R5 for the reach instead of using teleconverters. Now I'm just using my R5 with the 500 mm F4 and both teleconverters as well as the Canon R6 Mark II with the 100 to 500 for my wildlife. If I need to reach now I have to go to the teleconverters because I can't trust the autofocus on this camera. Duade Patton who is an Australian TH-camr even called Canon out on this. They ADMITTED they have a flaw in the cameras auto focus and chaulked it up to its a cheap entry camera. But on the other hand the R8 has the exact same auto focus is the R6 Mark II and does a phenomenal job. I'm not saying the camera is useless as I do have a few videos on it. I'm just saying that some days you'll go out and only have a 20% success rate which is There are slight workarounds like not using electronic but instead using electronic first curtain and then instead of using the H++ just using the regular H+. I used it in the studio today for portraits with one of my strobes and got great results. It's a great camera.. Minus that ONE ISSUE that can be HUGE on dome days.

    great comparison. I currently have a r6 and only shoot photos, but have been considering the r5, but the r5mk2 should be coming just around the corner so will hold off until that one arrives. thanks for this great video!

    I'm not a professional photographer so the price difference puts the R5 out of reach for me. If I were relying on my camera as a tool for work, naturally I would accept the higher cost of the R5 over the R6-MkII. Even with both cameras discounted as of right now, there's still a $1000 difference in price. I was able to get my R6-MkII on sale and I am not disappointed. I do also have the R7 which I may be selling to put the money into a lens purchase. The R7 is a fun camera I like using for street photogrphy, but sometimes the documented focus issues make it a bit frustrating. It's a great video camera in my opinion, but I don't really need two cameras even as it's nice to have them each set up differently (one for video one for stills).

    I have the R5 and Ive owned the R6 and the R5 is better in every way than the R6ii except AF tracking. The R5 is a better hybrid Camera because of the 6 programmable mode switching.

    Please explain what do you mean by the term NOISE, many thanks and regards.

    • @Joel_Varughese
      @Joel_Varughese  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! Noise is another term for grain in an image. The higher the ISO, the more grainy or noisy the image is lowering the overall quality.

      24mp is about the lowest resalution you can go and get a 60% crop at best, there's better but there is also worse.
      I still use a 24mp camera my self but I'm a casual birder so rarely do I crop.

    • @rui7773
      @rui7773 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@David_Quinn_Photography, exactly! I've already tested the RP, SL3 and now the R8 and even using resources like Topaz All or Enhancement in Lightroom it didn't help in my case, I finish the edit with the same result as a Nikon P1000 that I have here, haha... sometimes even the P1000 wins because it hits the target very close with 16MP, I don't need to crop during editing, these other 24MP cameras end up at 4MP at most 6MP.
      Note: the best among the 24mp was the RP, I expected the R8 to have a better result but I was very wrong!

    R5c vs r6 ii which is best for hybrid?

    • @Joel_Varughese
      @Joel_Varughese  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The R5C is an amazing compact cinema camera for more serious videographers with heavy video work and it also has the ability to take photos. The R6ii is a good hybrid if you do a like bit of both photo and video, nothing too heavy either way.

    You never really did mention who would benefit from which camera and is the $1,000.00 difference worth it?

    • @Joel_Varughese
      @Joel_Varughese  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The $1,000 difference is only worth it if you do very heavy video work. Or if you do very specific type of photo work that involves heavy cropping or needing to print your photos very large.

    • @Ydkoll
      @Ydkoll 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Joel_Varughese I can only agree with you on cropping and making large prints. However R6ii is far more capable in video due to its faster processor. So a $1000 may not be worth it for most people.

      @@YdkollI traded in my R6 last month. The reason, I’m expanding my passionate photography hobby to include birding and wildlife. The R6 or R6 II isn’t capable of giving me disable results. Especially in the area of cropping.

      Actually the R5 and the R6 Mark II are about the same price now. Canon knocked the R5 down to $2899. Plus Mint used is $2200 all day.. same as the R6II
