When you read up on WW2 and how the French organized the Resistance and using Nightclubs to listen to the German soldiers, this episode is even more special. This is one of my top 3 of this season.

Yeah there's a definite WWII/French resistance vibe to this.

It’s also animated by Studio La Cachette, a paris-based studio ❤ theyre definitely paying homage to the ww2 spies

Okay, so I wasn't crazy. That's all what was going through my mind in this episode. Makes it more emotional to me

This was clearly a French resistance episode. I'm a little surprised the guys didn't pick up on it.

I agree with you that the empire took away the horns and one eye to remove the connection. They probably did it right away so he wouldn't remember them.

Really not the dark head ? That episode 5 was so good, not just because of the animation but that story could easily be made cannon during old republic, the high republic or possibly even in the future like 100 after the sequel movies when Rays new Jedi order is created.

    • @vesey986
      @vesey986 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@TheRambler1100 those are my two favourites too by far! But this season was far more consistent in that I loved every episode. @jamesmatthewsthomas2758 the dark head was a great episode too!

same here! I would love follow ups to both of those episodes in future seasons of visions.

Best way I can describe this episode, it feels like the finale to a season. Like it could be a show where you follow her as a spy on a bunch of secret rebel missions and at the end of the season you get this episode. Then next season you bring in the imperial that took the boy as the big bad and the boy slowly remembers things while the dad tasks him with tracking down the mother. Then he slowly becomes more torn each time he confronts her face to face until he ultimately has to choose.

Why couldn't that story be canon?

@@adambomber3384 some of the tales were better than others; it would be great to flesh out that universe with unique stories of the Empire and the rebellion, and to have them be canonical would be a bonus.

By FAR this is my favorite episode from this season.... my metric for picking my favorites with this series has been- when it ends: "Do I want MORE of this story?" and YES.... yes to this very much so...

The Matrix reference at the end becomes funnier when you realise Jon is voiced by the actor who played the Merovingian in the sequels.
Loved this story, fantastic animation for the dance sequences, and the scene between Loi'e and her son on the rooftop was so emotional and powerful. It's my favourite episode from this season, along with Screecher's Reach

While I preferred Journey to the Dark Head, the Spy Dancer was a close second because it focused on the aspects the other one didn't. While the Dark Head focused on the supernatural dichotomy of light and dark via Jedi and Sith, Spy Dancer excelled at showing the human aspect of Rebellion vs Empire. Great little twist there too, still though to this day I've yet to see a reactor who immediately clocks on that it's her son, it was instant for me so bravo to Eric. The K droid was very terminator-esque too and it was a nice hopeful ending.

I LOVED this tale. To me, this is absolutely part of Lucas-verse canon: It takes place 2ABY, in between the events of TESB and ROTJ. That Imperial General took that 1-and-a-half-year-old child, as a spoil of war and conquest, and raised it as his own, having the child's horns and distinctive eye color surgically removed, indoctrinating him in to Imperial culture. Now, around age 22, this young man is introduced to his Force-sensitive Mother, and catches a glimpse of his also Force-sensitive Cousin. Now, he has A LOT of food for thought. I want to see this family in The Mandoverse, with Mother and Son reunited, with him being a last minute member of The Rebel Alliance (a la Agent Kallus), months before The Battle Of Endor, and now a model citizen of The New Republic. I agree, Aaron: This is yet another story that I would very much like to see the continuation of. This SO The French Resistance of WW2 and Casablanca. Garsa Fwip, played by (the still-GORGEOUS) Jennifer Beals, Guys.
May The Force Be With You, Wave Squadron Brothers.

Cirq de soleil and Inglorious Basterds... WOOÒT
What would really be fun is a crossover continuing this story tied in with Lop and Ocho... Very similar time frame, easy to connect.

This one and the last one miiiiight be my favorites of this season. I like em all well enough, save for one in particular we haven’t gotten to yet that just didn’t vibe with me for whatever reason. But yeah this one is just so awesome. Told so expertly. Beautifully animated. Anytime I can get more 2D animation like this I will take it.
