it wasn't just her son's face, but the combination of the uniform, insignia, cane, etc. She realized he was raised by his kidnapper, and was able to assume a similar position in the empire when his kidnapper couldn't any longer.
That kidnapper was an old imperial security bureau officer. I think he hadn't any kids, but he wanted to continue his legacy alive, that is why he stole the baby, to raise him up like his own son.

I understand that Jaby wanted all the episodes with the eastern animation style but the thing I enjoyed the most was the different types of animations we got and stories they showed up. I love anime but I also enjoy the western animation too.
Really like the twist there in the end. This episode is from a French studio, and the theme feels inspired by the real world Jazz-dancer, singer, and spy Josephine Baker. During WWII she used her fame to help French Intelligence. Also she was the first black woman in a major motion film. It’s just my speculation she was the inspiration but feels plausible.

This is tied with Screecher's Reach for my favorite of the season. What a story and it was so well done. I too saw the art style at first as wasn't into it, but after like 3 minutes in, it totally didn't phase me at all anymore and I just fell in love with the WWII-French-Resistance theme and artistic storytelling.
Out of all the studios that were announced last year for this Visions vol.2, Studio La Cachette was one of my most anticipated ones. They have a very specific style of animation, very simplistic designs with lots of curves and almost no angles at all, which kind makes their art like art for children, but it allows them to make some insanely intricate animations (and they love long oners with moving cameras, but all done in traditional hand drawing, including the background, which, in 2D animation, is insane).
If you weren't convinced by this episode, go watch what they've done on one of their directors comic book's animated trailer from a decade ago, called Kairos. With this trailer alone, they kinda established themselves as the potential future french Ghibli.
They're also the main studio that's working with Genndy Tartakovsky, now, on both Primal, and Unicorn Warriors Eternal, and directed the sequel to France's animated national treasure Ernest and Celestine.
The animation style is awesome
I loved the Spy Dancer! Heck, I loved the entire second season! I like the look and sound of this because it reminds of of 1980s anime--this looks a lot like Voltron and Robotech! The big stormtrooper sounded like a character I would have heard from either story, lol.
More than the animation, however, I enjoyed this story. IMHO, that made the animation so much better.
Anyway, another solid story from Star Wars Visions. If any story ever gets a sequel, I hope it's this one! I'd love to see more, sure, but I need to know what happens next in this story, lol!
While it wasn’t my favorite animation style, i love the variety and don’t want it to fall into “sameness”. It suited this short well, with its fluidity and expressiveness.
Oh my gosh, the point of this season is that they are doing it differently than the previous one and Jabi kept mentioning wishing it was more "Anime" again and again. The art style reminds me of the French New Wave or Art Nouveau style which takes lots of inspiration from nature having organic/curvey lines and strokes, but in this episode it seems to take a more cartoonish twist and I loved that. It fits perfectly with this FRENCH revolution/rebel type characters, with these FRENCH sounding aliens, while using FRENCH inspired artstyle, and I think that is the point. Watch season one if you want to watch Anime star wars.
I noticed how the son is already a high-ranked officer since the man who raised him was one too. This a great example of how the Empire's ranking system is unfair most of the time and why they lose the war.
They LOST Due to Luke and Vader killing the Emperor. Other then that nepotism just like in the REAL WORLD is very Normal and isn't some fantasy you seem to be having of "Fairness" how many People who are succesful are Children of other Rich and powerful people?
I like that they showed all the storm troopers without their helmets on their time off. It emphasizes that they're still human.
Probably my 2nd favorite episode of the season after sith. Classic animation and amazing music. I’d love to see more of this story
French animation is so powerful. Definitely one of the more striking episodes in terms of style.
The beauty and point of Star Wars Visions really is the different studios with their unique art styles and stories. ❤ U can certainly criticize the story aspects and the direction but clinging into only one type of animation style and judging the episodes based on that seems really narrow minded.
This was honestly my favorite animation style this season. As much as I love anime, I love the beauty of this art style. The line work and character movement were beautiful to me. I need to look into this studio :)

I wish this was released in original French dub like Journey to the Dark Head having a Korean dub.
This one is my favourite, ok, it's one of my 3 favorites. The story, the animation, the fact that they used history in the making of this one.

Not a hater or not in the intention of spreading hate, but you barely get any views on this starwars. Why react to it? If you watch some movies you would, mainly if you do watch tamil movies. Indian movies in general. A great recommendation would be, ratchasam (i dont remember you guys reacting to that movie), maybe react to john wick, or hunger games, mahaan, vikram and so on.
