Hands down, the rarest weapon item in the game is the Midnight (Obsidian) Blunderbuss...there is no comparison. Nothing else even comes close. I’ve been playing this game since Alpha testing (when it was still run on the Unity game engine) and I still don’t have it cause I didn’t buy the SoT Seagate External Hard Drive which is the only way to get said Blunderbuss.
Wasn’t the only way. It was also attainable by attending a creator crew meetup a bit back hosted by Rare. They offered a large amount of Midnight Blunderbuss codes but it is still the rarest weapon most likely.
I bought that HDD when it was announced (and im on PC - though it still functions fine as a general external HDD) That said I still had to drop 80$ - the wife was NOT pleased. Still... I have it. And I do not favor the blunderbus. I guess my point is I agree with you, even on announcement it was still expensive to invest in. I like my obsidian eye but they’re pretty common between the twitch watch drops and the many give aways. Not to mention it’s initial release for buying an item in the store between christmas and thanksgiving the first year, some year idk.. got a neat coin out of it but i wish I just waited for the free drop on mixer XD

In games I always loved items that are time limited to prove you have been around when the game was around during its most early moments Definitely gives me some pride when I can use my captain bones cutlass. It feels as if it is a key item bounded to you.

I'm not sure if this will work for everyone, or really anybody else, but if you happen to join into the same session of a friend who completed a Tall Tale you may also get the reward. For instance, I never did the Tall Tale to unlock the Ashen Dragon sails or the hull from the Shores of Gold Tall Tale, but I do have them because I joined my friend after he had already unlocked them in the session.
obsidian blunderbust is more rare than the eye of reach by far! you always see a streamer here and there doing giveaway for the obsidian 6 pack! haven't seen an blunderbust giveaway since last year!
I was just starting to play the game more and more often during the wailing barnacle event and all i bought was the figurehead(if that was even apart of the same time frame). I didn't have a lot of doubloons at the time so i saved them. i am now the proud owner of 16,000 doubloons(or more?) and no wailing barnacle sniper.
I'm happy I have at least one of these, even if it's just the Captain Bones' Original Cutlass but hey. I also have the obsidian pistol, have yet to obtain the eye of reach though.

Old video, but I'd replace the Captain Bones Cutlass with the Golden Legendary Blunderbuss. (Hitting Pirate Legend in year 1, rather than just playing in year 1) and I'd say its the most rare personally. To this day I've never met someone else who has it. I know people do, just haven't met them. I've met plenty of people with all of the other mentioned weapons.
There is so much wrong about this list... First of all, just because many players want an Item doesnt mean its rare. Also just because you can't get something anymore doesnt mean its rare. Capt Bones Original Cutlass is rare but shouldn't be in the top 5. Then, the Obsidian Sniper isn't rare, as Synocall and many other streamers give them away each stream more players get it, it gets less rare. I even think the mercenary sniper should be higher than the obsidian one. Now, pirate legend weapons aren't rare aswell since you can get them in a month, and with point-farming you don't need to be good. Now, the Barnacle Sniper is rare, but I think the Bonecrusher might be as rare, or even a little bit more (barnacle Looks better tho). Lastly I miss some extremly rare ones. The Ferryman set defently deserved top 3. Also the Blackdog Cutlass and Obsidian Blunderbuss. These three are in my opinion equaly rare and the rarest of all weapons. Then Insider and Barnacle Weapons as number 4 and 5. After that I would put the mercenary Sniper and Blunder followed by the Obsidian Pistol as place 6 and 7. After that you can do Pirate Legend, Obsidian Sniper and Cpt Bones og Cutlass and what not. The title of this video is REALLY klickbaity and the list is more like a Top 5 most wanted weapons. I know this list is his/your own opinion but your opinion doesnt affect the rarity of an Item. Sorry if I missspelled anything.

This is way off. Not only the midnight blunderbuss as all of the comments have called out, but does no one know about the scurvy and castaway bilge rat sword, the ruffian sea dog and the grand admiral sword? Only available for a month in the first few months of the game and people complained because they were just reskinned colors so they took them out. Turns out that’s all this games rewards ever amounted to 😂 I only have the grand admiral sword myself, but for any day one people reading this, check if you have these swords they are easily the rarest 👍
Ferryman is apparently to rare for the video and the same as insider weapons. I also think blunderbuss and pistol are rarer weapons cause they are almost not attainable anymore

He logs on.. and is swinging the most sought after sword in the game? I flipped my lid lol....couldnt believe it that he had it. Made his day when I told him lol
The Silver Blade Eye of Reach should be here :) Its almost a year of playing the insider programme. (45 weeks) And its a beautiful sniper ! Or even the Silver Blade Boots which is the last reward after 78 weeks !!! Thats a long time..
i think the rarest weapons in the game are the ferryman weapons.. they were ONLY obtained by pre ordering the SOT controller and they only made a certain amount of them, they sold out so fast and people were selling the ferryman codes on eBay for them for around 75-110 dollars. i was lucky and got the controller so i have the DLC for them but i have only met 1 other person in game who has them, every time someone sees my weapons' they are amazed and ask me how to get them every time, the black and gold is so fancy and very flashy.
The cutlass is the only weapon that I like to get skins for because its the only one im consistent with cause i switch up the gun every so often for a dumb reason

I never thought these were rare because I have them all Edit: except for the legendary cutlass and that stuff for 240 arena wins, I've currently got 194 wins so far, I'm so close.
i know this is rarest but Legendary weapons would be the hardest to obtain to me since everything else is just time sensitive or you had to do this event at this time, LSD you need to put many hours into arena and be skilled enough to get 240 arena wins.
Ive tried to find the stats on the # of sot controllers made. I cant find any official numbers but it looks like 2500 to 5000 were made. Seeing as how they were only in stock for the first few months, the ferry man has to be the rarest item in the game. I dont see less than 5000 ppl having that barnacle EOR

Launch crew sniper is the rarest I believe because you had to be playing before all the DLC’s.
Midnight Blunder and Ebon flintlock are also extremely rare and sought after. Along with the Black Dog cutlass.
They gave away the ebon flintlock to everyone watching some streams a while back, so it's considerably less rare now

Turns out that’s all this games rewards ever amounted to 😂 I only have the grand admiral sword myself, but for any day one people reading this, check if you have these swords they are easily the rarest 👍

Ferryman is apparently to rare for the video and the same as insider weapons. I also think blunderbuss and pistol are rarer weapons cause they are almost not attainable anymore
So yeah I got my 7 year old son into this game, he uses the xbox i use the pc. Totally forgot that I made a character on the xbox years ago. He logs on.. and is swinging the most sought after sword in the game? I flipped my lid lol....couldnt believe it that he had it. Made his day when I told him lol
Literally the first item I ever got was the captain bones cutlass, and I got it by accident for killing the captain skelly. Lol

I use the Forsaken Shores cutlass ever since the Forsaken Shores came out. I didn'r realize it was rare until everyone I met didn't know what it was
I know its not a weapon but...i like my day 1 eye patch. I think its pretty rare considering not many day 1 players are still around

The obsidian eye of reach is still pretty easy to get. It's nice but I wouldn't call it rare.
They re released the ebon twice though. One the other day and once about 8 months ago

Everything is available on both. If you have it on 1 then you have it on the other too so long as you’re using the same Xbox account.

I'd say Midnight Blunderbuss is the rarest. Thats why I use it.
(Can only get it on 2018 by meeting the devs or get the SOT Xbox storage pack)

i think the rarest weapons in the game are the ferryman weapons.. they were ONLY obtained by pre ordering the SOT controller and they only made a certain amount of them, they sold out so fast and people were selling the ferryman codes on eBay for them for around 75-110 dollars. i was lucky and got the controller so i have the DLC for them but i have only met 1 other person in game who has them, every time someone sees my weapons' they are amazed and ask me how to get them every time, the black and gold is so fancy and very flashy.
Golden legendary blunder should be 1 or 2

The cutlass is the only weapon that I like to get skins for because its the only one im consistent with cause i switch up the gun every so often for a dumb reason

This video is bait ...rarer than the obsidian sniper is the Midnight blunderbuss available through the hard drive purchase which is now obsolete or the ferryman cutlass and blunderbuss. The waiking barnacle was a easy to get in game item however it was time limited ....title should be most sought after weapons

i know this is rarest but Legendary weapons would be the hardest to obtain to me since everything else is just time sensitive or you had to do this event at this time, LSD you need to put many hours into arena and be skilled enough to get 240 arena wins.

Ive tried to find the stats on the # of sot controllers made. I cant find any official numbers but it looks like 2500 to 5000 were made. Seeing as how they were only in stock for the first few months, the ferry man has to be the rarest item in the game. I dont see less than 5000 ppl having that barnacle EOR
