I was playing with 2 of my friends and we just got the burning blade. Shortly 3 sloops showed up and we started running to get familiar with the ship before we fought. One of the sloops kept telling us to fight them cause they didn't have all day. After a bit, we had the ship all figured out and we decided it was time to fight the sloops. I kid you not when I say it was the least fair fight I've ever seen. None of them even came close to dealing lethal damage to our ship and the fight ended with the same crew that was telling us to fight them saying "this is why I don't play this game" which was hilarious.
lol the method to killing it is to board and destroy skeletons while keeping them off cannons and having a guy on your ship getting lower deck holes, even on a galleon fighting a competent crew commanding the burning blade is a crazy challenge, just wish it didn’t take up a world event

ill be honest, im not even sure if you can take down a player controlled burning blade like from the very little experience ive got with it, me and a buddy managed to steal this thing from a brig when we started as a sloop, and no one, and i mean, no one managed to even put a dent in us the skeletons will almost insta repair any hole in the ship (tho you still need to bucket out the water, but this thing is so big that it takes a lot of time to sink), the skellies will rush anyone trying to board, so a galleon would have to try to board with everyone, but i dont see 4 people jumping ship your biggest fear would be people teaming up to take you down
The skeletons have pooled spawns so if it’s a 4 man crewing the burning blade then each skeleton only has 2 lives, you need to alternate between having 1-2 competent pvp players consistently boarding the burning blade and focusing skeletons while having the guys on your ship laying into bottom deck holes and preferably avoiding their broadside, the key is just not giving them any downtime and keeping all masts disabled since their anchor goes at the same speed as a sloops, it’s a tough fight but me and my crew have been hunting the burning blades for awhile now and this method as a brig or galleon has quite a high success rate
Also Skeletons don’t respawn infinitely. And I did sink it multiple times. But also never had a 4 man crew against me. But when I and my friends had it it really almost felt unsinkable. Even against multiple player ships

It'd be cool if they made non flaming version that you can just own It just wouldn't have the forward facing weapon or the fire immunity, but they could do something like give it a 6 player crew size

AI crews would also make the multi deck ships like this significantly more useful in combat if the AI could man the extra cannons, too. You could pull off things like rolling broadsides too which would make for quite the spectacle. On multi gundeck ships, you could set the AI to do different targeting with different guns(top guns firing faster and being for clearing the decks, middle deck for anti-ship/anti-crew depending on the range, and lowest deck for the powerful big anti-ship guns on a 3 deck ship for example). I'd also like to see the devs start looking more at historical ship layouts. Things like powder magazines to keep barrels safe(and actually add some incentive for taking them aboard), dedicated cargo holds for carrying more loot in a more protected location in the bowels of the ship, open gun decks for more cannons, etc.

I feel like to counter this, regular ships should have some kind of camouflage cannonball or something which can be used to blind opponents so it can be possible for smaller ships to escape and survive this, or maybe a water cannonball to deal extra damage to the manowar, as otherwise it's just not very fun to be hunted down without even engaging them and mercilessly beaten to a pulp without much chance at even escaping them, forget defeating them.

first attempt at getting it was stolen by people hiding on the ship and taking it for themselves. second time we did 3 puzzles got reaper 5, then 2 sloops a brig and 2 galleons decided to fight us for it. 45 minute fight where we sunk a sloop and a galleon and we kept boarding their ships to anchor while we ran. but eventually we were outnumbered and pummeled. spent 5 minutes just all 4 of us bucketing water constantly. made for a sick fight
I will never be half as good at this game as id need to be to get this ship, and I'd never dream of engaging it, but this is cool as hell. I'd love to just take a look around some day
My fave capture was after 4 ships all went to fight it I decided to play smart I camped the captains cabin and killed the other pirates on board as the ship was defeated a final brawl in the captains cabin and I was pledged the ship was mine after sinking the whole server I did 4 rituals And turned it in that was my 3rd time ever doing it

Okay so technically it's not the first forward facing weapon. In the last monkey island tall tale, the headless monkey ship has 2 forward facing chase cannons.
Day three of playing this game solo as a new player, in 9/2024, and now I know why after collecting too much loot, this ship came roaring at me. Literally with a burp of flame that set my Sloop alight. I in panic mode fell off my ship, and was in low tides next to the beach I still was collecting treasure on. A player who looked like naked Jin Saka, with a ronin straw hat, swam up to be and bunderblussred me while I asked wtf was that.
