Adding some coriander leaves and red chili flakes whilst grinding the dhal works great too, also add a tad bit of turmeric into the dhal when boiling for color. 😍

Prepare and refrigerate the split peas. Reheat on the day required, . Trust me it saves lots of time. Your roti making day will only be just about one hour.

The great thing about roti is that you can make a big batch and freeze what you don't need for another time. Roti is so delicious, with a curry dish😋

This first time I tasted Trini curry and dhal roti I was hooked!!! I had met a new friend from Trinidad. She cooked for other people and asked me if I wanted to taste her curry chicken (and/or goat), with roti. The first roti was w/o the Dhal. Trini curry is special. It has it own unique to it. I was not sure if I wanted to try the food (even though I love caribbean food), so I started off with a small order. One bite of her curry chicken and my search was over. She was going to show me how to make the curry and roti. But not long after we met, she wasn't feeling well and went to the hospital. They found cancer in her entire body. They couldn't save her. I've never forgotten her curry. Once I got it, I ate it for BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER and MIDNIGHT SNACK. That was my only food until it was gone. I had not been able to master the roti. I was discouraged trying to copy trini roti and curry. Was just missing something. I can't wait to try this recipe!

Verdict from trying this recipe: My husband loved it (some bias there as he would eat anything I cook😄). The taste was superb, so your seasoning style is perfect, but the shape was a whole different story 😂😂.. certainly not Master Chef quality. I have yet to learn how to be an expert with a rolling pin. But this was my first time watching your video and trying the recipe. You've got a new subscriber❤
