When I first started growing, I noticed right away how much people will attack you strictly for a different opinion. When I walked away, the venom these people who were my "friends " was spewing was hurtful. I got over it. I have been called so many slurs. I don't care, these people do not define who I am.
Think of it as a blessing. They showed their true colors, and you can find better friends. 👍

You are so right. I was on govt assistance. Everytime i would pick up more hours or a pay raise it almost hurt bc i would have to pay higher rent and food costs and would lose the comfort of the handout. We finally decided enough is enough. I was caught in a trap of minimums and maximums never able to flourish. Finally i decided to take the promotion. Doubled the salary. All in all i lost $200 a month once i lost ALL of my assistance. In another year we would have lost housing allowance bc of time limit. We did the math and figured it was still worth it. Now we don’t have to worry about how we will afford the rent in a year. I have gained some respect in myself for breaking the teether. The self respect is huge. Now we can continue to move up and eventually hopefully flourish. On assistance there is no flourishing. Its paycheck to paycheck. It felt fine when i was young but after growing up a bit i realized it is not the way to living well with comfort.
I have always believed that government assistance is built to keep people down. Why would we not create a system that would slowly come down as someone got paid more? the only way it makes sense is if that is the purpose

That's why many people (African Americans!) refer to welfare dependency as the 2nd Democratic plantation!!! That's not to say that it isn't good to provide a safety net (a temporary one!) of assistance if a family needs it. But permanent, generational welfare DOES NOT HELP people~ IT KEEPS THEM DOWN and under the thumb of big government!! And by big government, I mean the Democratic Party~ they are BUYING votes with "free" money. I am SO glad you were able to rise above and prosper! It takes courage and hard work~ God Bless You!!!❤

Van, thank you for your perspective. I was a California Democray for over 40 years... I literally cried when Trump won, so much so that I stopped watching anything that talked about Trump because I was soooo triggered.
Long story short, I stop watching the news because they were 24/7 Trump, and then I started following civilian journalist on you tube and to my surprise found out that Trump wasn't a bad guy after all, that he was actually DOING the things I was hoping the Democrats I'd voted for would do, but weren't!
It took about 6 months of seeing testimonial of how Trump was help the very people the news said he was against. I tried to tell my friends and family and they wouldn't hear it. I was even accused of being brainwash by my own husband...I was blown away at how vile my once nice friends were when they spoke about Trump.. in their mind a justified hatred for the man that I was beginning to real respect, for his love of America and it's people.
It's been a tough road, lost most of my friends, but I still believe Trump was actually one of the best President we've had, maybe THE best. Others might think so too if the news actually reported the things he was doing for our country and it's people.
Thank you for being brave and continue to move on after those people.

I have a pizza planet hat. Red with white text like from the toy story movie. Had someone yell at me the other day from across the location I was at. I stayed silent as they were yelling about Trump and approaching me. I just read a book that blew my mind called "Color, Communism, and Common Sense" by Manning Johnson in 1958. He was a black American, Soviet trained communist. Explains this race-communism today to a tee. When I say mind blowing, I mean WOW. Only 42 pages

I am bi-racial and grew up in a neighborhood call South Boston. I was jump and beaten almost everyday because I was different. When I got older many change but not all. I do not worry what I cannot control.

One thing that was always impressed upon us when I was a college professor was that until there is a significant relationship, no significant learning can occur. What you were saying about the appearance of the messenger fits into that principle. If the messenger looks “hood” then there is a perceived relationship from which instruction can occur.

I remember my father sitting me and my siblings down and telling us how to act when the police stopped us. I thought we were the only ones that got that talk for years. One my college age friends lost his life by acting a fool with the police. He was a white moron! We need to look at their deeds not their words. Policies over rhetoric. In a socialist society, the poor are doomed to stay in poverty and the middle class are doomed to lose everything they've worked for to get out of poverty.

I'm really sorry for your loss my friend. I lost my best friend this past december. She committed suicide and I've been having a really hard time accepting it. She was so fun loving and always laughing deep down inside she was hiding some really dark stuff apparently. I've known her since I was in elementary school and now I'm 42 years old so it's definitely tough losing someone you're so close to and I just want you to know that I'll be praying for you and for healing for his family as well

Being taught this has helped me a lot in life. "Always respect others despite their circumstances" is another. And the classic; "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me"; helped me to discern the difference between good relationships and bad for work and personal..
