My father was a cop and he told me in 1961when I got my driver's license at age 16 how to behave if I ever got stopped by the police--say yes sir, don't argue, keep your hands in plain view, follow his directions, talk reasonably, take your argument up in court if necessary. Charlottesville was a protest about tearing down a statue of Robert E. Lee. There were REGULAR people/US Citizens/Americans/Dems/Reps for and against it there. There were also Nazis and BLM type people there. When he referred to good people on both sides it's the former. When the Media spins the soundbite, it's conveniently painted for half of the latter. If you take time to hear the whole quote the Racist theory of this event is debunked. Thank you Van! Your work is incredible..proud of you, hope you're genuine. I love all Colors because there is only one Race. Prejudice and bias will always exist throughout the World but here in America Racism and Discrimination is dead if not extinct. They did that about everything he said. My issue is where people watch a clip for a few minutes that’s been edited out of context from an hour long speech and automatically assume that’s what happened. It’s so easy for them to go and watch the whole thing and see/hear for themselves what actually happened. It’s sad and very dangerous.

You treat and say things to others that you would be ok with someone saying or doing that to you... TREAT OTHERS HOW YOU WANT TO BE TREATED... Especially for authority figures... This is a conversation that my mom did have with my sister and me and I shared with them but I did add something that my mother didn't tell me and that was that if you are disrespectful to authority figures, like police, there can be more problems just from running that mouth. And when they meet ANYONE I tell them that EVERYONE we meet deserves respect until THEY SHOW YOU that they don't and depending on the situation and the person you still be respectful and handle those situations a different way...

I remember that whole thing about The New York Times with the headline saying Trump paid $750 in income taxes and all the talk shows, late night shows, and the news media reporting that Trump only paid $750 in taxes. However, if you read the article, 3/4 of the way through the article, it stated that Trump prepaid millions in taxes and he owed a balance of $750 which is what he paid. So you could tell that even these tv shows and the news media itself doesn't do any research if they can't read an article and only report the misleading headline.

When Trump had said that there were fine people on both sides, he was referring to the political ideologies. There were people on both sides that had shown up to Charlottesville to protest, which is fine. Not everyone that showed up that day acted out violently. It was the violent protesters he called out, and he didn’t care which side they were on: he called them out and condemned them. Most media outlets heavily edited his statement, but few posted the unedited version.

I am the mother of two white sons. What makes people think I didn’t teach my boys to act a certain way if they encountered the police?
Speak respectfully, keep your hands where they can see them, follow all their instructions, if there is something to sort out we will do it in court, not on the street.
When my youngest was 15, he was attacked, kidnapped, and robbed of everything but his underwear, left bloody on the street.
When he was 19 he started carrying, I was so scared for him to be pulled over. I told him he had to keep his hands on the wheel and immediately let the officer know that he had a gun and where it was.
White people are killed by police, like any other race, I was more worried about him with cops than other people on the street.

I'm white, but I lost the job I had for 31 years, along with 60,000 fellow employees, because my company could no longer afford healthcare for us during the Obama years. Obamacare drove up the secular and private insurance rates 200 to 900%. My o-o-p premium went from $24 a month $150 a month, and just that first year! I can't imagine what my company's share increased to. After I lost my job, I couldn't find one for a full year under Obama. Finally my girlfriend found me one at the local grocery store. I went from a research scientist to a donut fryer. As healthcare costs soared in the Obama years, they cut our hours down to 24 per week, so the grocery store wouldn't have to subsidize any health insurance for us... So I lost all my health insurance. I was only bringing home around $100 per week, so I checked into Obamacare to get some of that cheap stuff. I asked the rep how much was their cheapest policy, and I believe he said $300 a month, but he wouldn't recommend it as it didn't cover anything and had high co-pays. The next level was around $450 a month. I told the rep I I only made $400 a month and thought this was the AFFORDABLE Care Act. We had a good laugh on the phone over that one. Obama killed me. I came within one month of losing my paid-off house. I prayed for a miracle, and the next week the Holy Spirit found me a better job with health insurance. As a Democrat, I couldn't wait for the next election to vote Republican. Donald Trump pulled me out of $25,000 debt I accrued

I'm a white person and I can tell you for a fact definitely for a fact. I didn't have to feel the police because my mom taught me to respect authority. And some black people and white people also don't respect authority you respect authority you will have more success. The blacks have an NAACP whites have nothing. White man could be fully qualified for a job. And a unqualified black person can apply and get it because they need to have a certain amount of every different race working for places referring to Black and any others common Sense tells me and everybody else that if you respect authority you will be respected back. And I'm a military person to retired

20:50 No, he didn't say they were nice people.
There were a few protests going on in Charlottesville. One was an alt-right rally at night, where they carried tiki torches and chanted racist stuff. It was peaceful, if distasteful.
The next day, there was a "unite the right" rally in the same park. There was a police perimeter and a ton of detours and blocked streets. All the rally goers were disarmed by police before they were allowed to go into the park.
That rally was about the removal of statues and monuments. Some people wanted them removed. Others wanted them to stay. Trump said there were "very fine people" on both sides of that argument.
During that second rally, Antifa showed up. They stayed outside the perimeter, so they weren't disarmed by police. When the permit for the rally expired, police ushered them all toward the main entrance to the park, where Antifa was waiting for them. Rally goers were pepper sprayed, hit with baggies and bottles of urine and feces, and beaten.
    The police did nothing.
A man with a history of mental health problems got in his car and tried to escape the neighborhood, but with all the barricades and detours he found himself right back where he started. Antifa "protesters" started attacking his car with sticks and bats, and he gunned the engine.
He ended up striking a parked vehicle, which was then pushed into a crowd of Antifa protesters. Several people were injured. One, Heather Heyer, died.
He did not drive his car into the crowd. I'm of the opinion that he was driving in a panic AWAY from his attackers. If I were going to intentionally run over a bunch of people, I wouldn't rear end a parked car.
    Read the following: politifact.com/article/2019/apr/26/context-trumps-very-fine-people-both-sides-remarks/
It contains a transcript of what Trump said. I'd like to say I've never seen such a blatantly manufactured controversy, but this is the Trump era.

I was about to say holy shit we found someone VERY well informed... then I recognized the name. Karen Straughan is damn near right about everything she has ever said, but in this case she is 100% on topic this is exactly the truth of the event that day and it was a HUGE snow job how it got interpreted.

Its like the video that just came out of the guy saying trump had "provable crimes" and when asked to name them the guy couldnt name any and then got mad and walked away. These people cant answer why trump is "racist".
I am white and was taught to respect authority and elders and to always say sir and ma'am and to be respectful to police.

They can't answer because all that they've heard are all of the sound bites from CNN and MSNBC.
It's been known that the media puts out 90% negative coverage of Trump since he announced his run for them presidency.

JLP lived in the Jim Crow south, he actually picked Cotton. He has an intimate understanding of what real racism is. These kids have no idea. Also I hate to tell them this but White kids are taught to have the upmost respect for authority also. So is that racism also.

When the gentleman spoke about the young woman who got ran over, he was referring to the situation in Charlottesville. There was a movement to take down statues that some deemed racist. There were those who wanted all perceived racist monuments taken down, then there were those who wanted to keep our history in plain sight. When Donald Trump said, "There were very fine people on both sides" he was referring to that situation, however what the mainstream media omits from that video is the part right before that comment when Trump said, “I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and white nationalists because they should be condemned totally.”

Knowing there are people out there that don’t like other people simply because of the color of their skin is insane to me. Also to be thought of as a racist simply because of the color of my skin is another thing that is insane to me. I do see colors when I look at other people, it’s called red white and blue. And unless you do something to cause me to judge you, we are all the same. I don’t know where he was at doing those interviews but I do not want to go there lol.
