  • So much wildlife! I compared two wifi trail cameras in the woods in Finland and one of them is the best trail camera I've ever used... so I've left it there for a year! I'll explain...
    🐾 Please subscribe to see more of my videos bit.ly/2RXfyUa 👍 I've got loads of exciting nature photography trips and projects with the wildlife camera coming up 😊

    After my last trail camera review where I talked about aiming systems, Dsoon Hunt and Ceyomur both reached out to me and sent me their wifi enabled trail cameras to test. Wifi connection allows the camera to be aimed with a 'live' view, just like my old Bushnell HD, as well as allowing image / video download to a phone or tablet in the field. I took the cameras to the 'usual' place in Finland in June, and both captured loads of different wildlife over a few days! After that, I had to decide which camera to leave in place for a much longer test! Watch this space for a follow-up video...
    Thanks to both Dsoon Hunt and Ceyomur for providing trail cameras to test, and apologies that (as usual) it's taken ~6 months more than it should have done to get the video finished and uploaded!

    Thanks Geoff for sharing your experience with these trail cameras. Looking forward to the video of the winter test of the CY95. Hope it gets some nice captures. I came upon your channel doing some research on wildlife in Argyll. I’m planning to travel there in oktober. Really enjoyed your videos off the beavers. Subscribed to your channel and looking forward to see your next video. Thank you. Best regards.

    Great to see your test! Wi-Fi cameras are an interesting idea - if you can get good connection they are great way to access footage when cameras are far away!

    • @GeoffCooper
      @GeoffCooper  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I don't think the WiFi of these cameras would allow them to be accessed at any significant range, though that would be neat! For that you would need to go up a level in pricing and get a trail camera with 4G so it can send images / be accessed over the cellular network... I can't see myself getting one of those to be honest (unless someone wants to send me one) but I'm sure that'd be fun, getting a txt whnever something triggered the camera!

      Thanks very much Andy, I'm also really interested to see how long it lasted and what it captured! Also, yes, the price has come down a lot - a decade ago my Bushnell, which is much lower resolution and has a narrower field of view, was nearly three times the cost of these...

    Thanks for the review. On the CY95 the tripod mount is for using flexi tripods wrapped around a branch, or joby gorillapods.

    • @GeoffCooper
      @GeoffCooper  ปีที่แล้ว

      I can see how the rear mount would be useful for some situations, but it seems silly to only have a mount so far from the centre of mass… the new Bushnell cameras solve the problem by having a bottom tripod mount /and/ a rear mount!

    • @GeoffCooper

      @@flotinaway7 Yeah, it's a fair design really, I was having to dig deep to find any negative points for the review to be honest!

    Hi Goeff, I purchased the CY 95 almost a month ago. I had no problem downloading and using the app to connect with my Apple iPhone 12 pro. The solar panel on the camera has been excellent as I consistently have 90% plus battery power even in snowy weather. however, I’ve had trouble with the end result, the photos!
    Because they are very hard to visualize on the phone, I want to download the few that I’ve gotten to examine them on my computer after transferring from the phone. I cannot consistently get the app to download. How do you do that and have you had problems with that?

    • @GeoffCooper
      @GeoffCooper  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Omara, I have not actually ever tried to use the App to download the images, and have instead just read the SD card directly to my computer - I believe the card can be read by plugging the CY95 in via USB, though I have always used a card reader.
      I cannot test it now since the camera is still out there, and hopefully still recording plenty of wildlife, but I would also be a little worried that downloads via the App might not be full size / resolution..?

  • @johnramage45
    @johnramage45 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi Geofff. I notice when comparing you had some issues with the CY95 triggering at all, I am currently watching active bird nests in my garden eith the CY95 and as the parents come and go and switch over the camera doesn't actually pick up any of this usually just the next bird settling down it's like the trigger is delayed 10 seconds and ironically my PIR interval setting must have a minimum of 10 seconds.
    I noticed it picked up 150 videos looking up at the nest but now I have raised it so its looking down on the eggs it's picked up only 9 videos
    Anything you can think of this may be? If I have photo mode on it takes the photos then a video, like my CY65 too I notice it takes all the photos then a video 1 minute later missing anything that passed.

    • @GeoffCooper
      @GeoffCooper  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, That's odd that it's not picking up the nest 'traffic' - is the bird small in the frame when at the nest? I have found that poor triggering is often with smaller and/or fast moving subjects...

  • @richclean

    so, I just purchased the CY95 and the app (ios) says it’s not available in my region (u.k.) 🤔 ‘faff’ love that ❤

    • @GeoffCooper
      @GeoffCooper  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh dear, more faff! I had a look and the app on my phone still works but I con't find it on the UK App store anymore - very weird.. There does seem to be a new version on the Android side (Game Camera Pro 2) so maybe it's something to do with that? I would suggest trying to email Ceyomur support at support@ceyomur.co and see if they reply? Let me know if you get anywhere with it as I want to make sure I have a working app for it when I finally collect mine next month!

  • @paultreviews
    @paultreviews ปีที่แล้ว

    Really great review. I reviewed the CY95 and the audio is not good - image quality yes - just don’t know why so many trail cameras have bad audio.

    • @GeoffCooper
      @GeoffCooper  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks :) Yeah, it seems like the manufacturers really don't concentrate on audio at all - I guess it's not something that matters for the majority of users and developing mic ports that are weather sealed is just extra cost... I imagine that if you pay for a proper 'high end' trail camera - like 2-3x as much - then audio might also be good!

    • @paultreviews
      @paultreviews ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GeoffCooper Seems as though the Brownings are good on audio and bizarrely the Campark TC06 but not the TC07 I'm preparing a review for!

      @@paultreviews interesting to hear... My old Bushnell has the best audio of any trail camera I've used, but the video resolution and field of view are really not up to modern standards at all - guess that's fair for a ~8-9 year old camera though!!

    • @GeoffCooper
      @GeoffCooper  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think tbere's any specific setting for that, but it's an interesting idea... I don't know how long the WiFi signal holds, ie if it has a limit for battery conservation etc, but theoretically while the WiFi is connected you could have the live image on the phone and then you would just need some method of recording / streaming the screen output.

    In my opinion, the quality is not very good. GoPro as a video trap looks like a more interesting option

    • @GeoffCooper
      @GeoffCooper  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I agree the quality of video will not match a GoPro or a DSLR/mirrorless camera along with a power source and wired PIR detectors / triggers, but these are a lot more complicated and expensive to set up. For what they are, a complete detector and camera package with many weeks of battery life, these do a lot for the price you pay and are a heck of a lot better than previous generations...

      That's interesting because my CY95 has been one of the best trail cameras I've used. I just recently put up a video where it ran for a whole year out in the wild. I wonder if you got a bad batch or a 'copy' - I've seen a few on the market that look like the CY95 but are not by Ceyomur... I guess a huge proportion of these devices are manufactured in China, but the level of quality control is rather variable between brands..
