Shame that Bushnell didn't continue development of the NatureView HD Max. As far as I know, it was and still is the only trail camera to have interchangeable macro filters for close focus.

Yeah, their new Core 4K camera is very good but it doesn’t have that close-up functionality! I also like the wired mini display of the NatureView which you can use at some distance if you get a longer cable…

Interesting video and comparison. The Bushnell seems to have held up well despite how trail camera technology is improving by the year. There are some really good sub £100 cameras out there that will give you the best of both of those two. Unfortunately for me, trail cameras are becoming a bit of an addiction - I have 4 now and planning a 5th.

Thanks Frank, yeah, I thought the Bushnell did surprisingly well here. I'm starting to have a wee collection of trail cameras too now - they're great fun!

The Dsoon and others have very short battery life and terrible user interface. Often the program hits a dead end and the only way to reboot the electronics is to pull the batteries and then re-enter all the settings. The megapixel rating stated is a fraud as it relies on electronic enlargement of zoom of the image. Native resolution is a fraction of the stated megapixels.

Yeah, it was definitely not the 'replacement' wildlife camera I was looking for - I have a newer one from them and a couple from Ceyomur that I'll make a review of soon, and again, the dsoon didn't come top.. As a wee bit of a spoiler though, I have found the Ceyomur CY95 to be really very good...

Interesting and honest comparison Geoff. Trail cams do a job but when your used to using a DSLR or mirrorless camera then the quality never seems great. Always great to see what’s around when we are not though 🙂. Cheers Keith

I've been using a Campark T100 trail cam with third-party macro filters attached to the lens for filming birds at close range and the results were very good. Having now used ICU cams I would not go back to retrieving SD cards. Admittedly I am only interested in knowing what happens when and not in video. However all the "budget" cams I have are generally lacking in video and audio quality... If used for gathering info and scouting perfectly good. 👍🏻

Yeah, that's a fair assessment - I think in order to get video with good audio quality you need to spend a little more because it's not really a priority feature.. While I like the idea of cellular trail cameras, the signal coverage in the Scottish highlands, where much of my trail cam usage would be, is simply not good enough. In Finland it would be fine as the coverage there is amazing, even out in the woods!

I think the new trail camera was a disappointment for areas you want it to be better, like the 4K and daylight image quality. As far as taking a ling time to release this video, it is your schedule, to meet your needs. I got really interested in a trail camera last year, look at a lot them, could never decide what to get. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, it's hard to decide between them - I find it really annoying that the 'mid range' trail camera companies seem to often have three or four models, each with one neat innovative feature, but no 'higher end' model with all those features combined! I think really what I should have a go at is 'proper' camera trapping - I've got some gear for that (for nearly 2 years now) but have never got around to setting it up...

Interesting video, I have no experience with trail cameras but was fun to see. Always happy to see a video from you, looking forward to the next one!
