I had a heck of a time resizing my cover image for a 6x9 softcover book to an 8.5 x 11 hardcover book. Do you know how to calculate that? Just the front cover image for use in the KDP Cover Creator.
wha, you have to change the interior of your manuscript? Well no wonder mine isn't working! Thank you so much. As soon I heard that I had to stop the vid and commenting. I will now watch the rest of vid and save it. Thank you again, been trying to do this for months! :)
I managed to do as you did successfully however my images and text on the front and back went over the trim and the graphics and text are one whole image so how can I manipulate them I have no idea how to thanks
Thanks so much for this. I have converted only a few of my books to hardcover and always run into publishing issues. Your tutorial is very well explained, plus simple to understand. I look forward to the one Niaz mentioned re gutter margins and gutter margins. :)
Do you happen to have a video on how to add additional photos to the journals for advertising so buyers know what the inside of the journals look like.
Hi what is the reason to change the margins? that is not said in the video. I get the error below for my book. i made it this margin because it was with bleed for my paper back. now i would like to create hard cover from the paper back. Do i have to change the cover back 6x9? and won't get issues with trimming ? ''You chose 6.0" by 9.0" trim size but your interior file was submitted at 6.12" by 9.25".
@@PassiveIncomeTemplates with bleed. I made my cover already with bleed 6.125x9.25 with bleed for paperback. Now i want to convert the same paperback to hardcover.
@@PassiveIncomeTemplates Thank you for the answer but something doesn't make sense...I see a bunch of Hardcover children's books in Amazon that are 24 pages...how are these people able to use a hardcover KDP that is 24 pages....if you don't know I hope someone else can answer because a minimum of 75 pages is a lot for children.
Hi Jamal, did you find out the answer to your question? I am getting ready to publish my book. I want to publish hardcover, but my book is less than 75 pages. I see a lot of childrens HARDCOVER books with a lot less pages than 75. I am wondering how they got around that.
@@susanaaguilar224 I ended up publishing it as paperback instead of a hardcover. paperback allows for less than 75 pages. I think others who publish their books as hardcover and under 75 pages are using different companies that allow that and then listing their boobs on Amazon.
Remember, this is for KDP self publishing, not every book sold on Amazon is self published through KDP requirements, so other non KDP sellers have other publishers that create their book differently and can sell it outside of the kdp minimum page requirements for kdp hard covers. They physically send their finished books to Amazon wearhouses to ship when a sale is made.
Hi, The video is super informative. I have a question for you. How to resize interior from paperback to hardcover if the file is on pdf and you don't have an editable version.

Thanks! Who is Niaz?
@@PassiveIncomeTemplates Sorry, Niaz Mohammad is a viewer of yours who commented below on making a tutorial on gutter margins and outer margins.:)
Thank you so much for the great tutorial. Would you please do one where gutter margin and outer margins become an issue and how to get around that?
Hey Niaz, absolutely, I’ve got a video for that in the works 🙏🏼
Can i change the tags while creating a hardcover from my existing paperback
Do you happen to have a video on how to add additional photos to the journals for advertising so buyers know what the inside of the journals look like.
I don’t at the moment but you can do so by adding A+ content to your books!
Do you add .5” to the interior on any size book?
It’s not working. It says “you choose 6x9 but your interior is 6.5x9.5

Your interior can stay the same if working with a 6x9 size. You will need to work with a hardcover template for the cover though.
@@PassiveIncomeTemplates so for the hardcover, what size should i consider while interior is set for 6x9 size?
6x9 no bleed or 6.125x9.25 with bleed
@@PassiveIncomeTemplates with bleed. I made my cover already with bleed 6.125x9.25 with bleed for paperback. Now i want to convert the same paperback to hardcover.
go to the cover calculator and generate a hardcover template for 6x9
does this mean that a hardcover has to be at least 76 pages? I am seeing books on Amazon that are 24 pages and are hard cover. thanks for answering
From Amazon: “The minimum and maximum page count is 75 - 550 pages”

Does this mean that paperback and hard cover has different sizes?
Yes. There are different cover templates to work with and in some cases, the finished trim sizes are slightly different.
Thank you

You should be able to resize a program like Adobe Acrobat or an online tool such as PDF2GO
