    Morning Taz
Always an early bird on ya jobs. Luv it. Get up, get on wiv it attitude
As always informative & interesting seeing how these things are done on various vehicle's.
I've never been a fan of this Insignia, don't like the shape.
This one looks fairly decent underneath from what I can see, bit of the crusty stuff, but considering your weather in Scotland is worse than we get down ere, not too bad.
    Keep up the good work
Looking forward to seeing the next Seat update.
Stay lucky. Stay safe. Stay healthy.

Same here. Never been a fan of these myself. I lost interest in vauxhall back when they made the last of the cavaliers.
Yeah, it's the customers pride and joy .anything it needs , he's on the ball to get it done .
Seat is coming along well. Decided to just sort the very slight play in the steering . Wheels look a million bucks too.
      Hope your keeping well Mate

I've read on Insignia groups that if you press the handbrake button down for about 8 seconds it puts the rear calipers into 'service mode' , which i assume winds the pistons back.
I'm just about to do rear discs and pads on my own Insignia today.

I didn't know that mate, let me know how you get on doing it if it works for you etc. Good luck and hope the weather stays good for you 💪🤠👌

@@autosolutionscheckpoint weather great here down on the Ayrshire coast ............It did indeed put the brakes intae service mode mate , the wee brake symbol appeared on the dash.
It didn't help much though, if at all , still had to wind the pistons back .
I had read this function would do that , what a load o' mince!, not on my 65 reg anyway.
However , new pads n discs fitted , so will take it a wee test drive.........past the supermarket ;-) .... might pop in for a couple of bottles of Henry Weston's Cider for tonight lol

@steview9899 everything is trial and error. I done my city & guilds in the late 90s. And just been winging it ever since . Everyday is a school day with Me. TH-cam is great for keeping up to date with the motor industry and modern technology. Weather been beaut here too in queensferry. Enjoy your cider lad. Definitely the weather for it. I'll crack open an ice cold bottle of water because I'm mental and on the hard stuff 🤣🤣🤣

Do you open thr brake fluid reservoir when push the calipers open on the front??
    Just asking before i start....

I didn't , but don't think there will be any need to remove the lid IMO , as it was just discs and pads getting changed, the only time I would remove the lid if I needed to bleed the brakes etc . Cheers

I'm not sure as I have never done a caliper rebuild before , I have always either replaced with new off the shelf parts or parts from the scrap yard, I'm sure it would be the same ethics as refurbishing a manual caliper. Sorry I couldn't give you a more definitive answer. Please consider subscribing if you haven't already. Thanks ☺️

I'm new to your channel 👍I don't want to upset you but you have got to use Silicone Grease on the pin's that have rubber bit's copper Grease eats rubber

Hi Colin, cheers for letting me know , unfortunately I never knew that , when I was doing my city & guilds in the late 90s they never taught us that or even garages I worked at . But take that on board, welcome to my channel , I hope you like it .

What is a ball park figure for having this exact same job on the exact same car ?

    • @autosolutionscheckpoint
      @autosolutionscheckpoint  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Sorry it has took so long to reply, unfortunately I didn't get a notification for this. It all really depends on who is doing it , quality level of parts used and time it takes. Not every job is as straight forward. And every garage varies with there hourly rate . Some garages can be £40 +vat per hour , some can be £100+vat per hour. . Thanks

Why do you put copper slip on the back when it just makes dirt stick to it ? I understand on the sliding surfaces at the top and bottom of the pad but don’t see any benefit to the back

You should put high temperature paint on the discs to prevent them from rusting.

Thanks mate, that would explain it, it has a code for glowplug number 2, thankfully it's not the most important one, will relay this back to the customer. He's had that same code for over a year now. Thanks for this. Please consider subscribing if your not already. I try my best to reply to everyone's comments and appreciate the input.💪🤠👌

Yep , i'm on a few Insignia groups and lots of folk don't know that , theyr'e like '' it says 'service Vehicle Soon and it was only serviced 2 months ago''..............unfortunately it need plugged in to find the fault.
I had it once ,so plugged in my little V'Gate icar pro scanner (£25.00), it showed as glow plug no 3, thankfully it's the cheap non-sensor glow-plugs on mine , glow plug was £9.00 , job done.

@steview9899 yeah the other type glowplugs are ridiculously priced. You would think they were gold plated 🤣
