I have owned a byd han ev for 2.5 years and it drives like new. i have gone thru 3 maintainences which are more like formality to me. no part has been replaced yet and none is needed in a short while. maintainence costs around 30 usd where i am. my bmw ice is collecting dust and i expect it to stay that way forever.

@@thecursed01 We Brits, Aussies, Japs and a few other places sit on the right side, making it better to drive on the left side of roads (and safer). Pictures of the first cars show drivers sitting to the right. The Brits used their brains and went steering was the most important function, and most people steer better being right-handed, so best to use the left hand for gear changes. Gear shifters were best located in the centre, so the decision was easy. Germans and Yanks probably flipped a coin, lol.

Unless they spec it differently for Australia, I dont have that high a regard for noise levels. Wind noise is noticable from 90kmh in my case. Handling - still on the Atlas Batman and I’d say, not great/confidence inspiring. Suspension is lovely around town. Very comfy. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy my Atto3. Horses for courses and all that. I have two thoughts:
      1. Hope Byd can invest in a company, appointing Chris as an authorised dealer of Byd vehicles in Australia and/or in another country.
This is because Chris can be trusted. Chris is also a champion for clean air motoring for his country.👏🏻
      2. Owners of byd can hope that with the ongoing and never ending research and improvement of battery technology at Byd, they can change the battery to a much better battery after 5 or 6 years, at a reasonable cost. This is because the strength of byd lies in their battery development.

I’ve done that but no improvement.

I've had mine for 3,400 kms and the infotainment system is close to being crap. Get a phone with Android and use Waze for a full screen nav. No idea what Apple does, but Google Maps is small on Android. My biggest gripe is it's not user-friendly with things like not keeping settings from last drives. You would at least think your radio comes back on, and it irks you to have to put it on over and over for the life of the car. There are dozens of bugbears like this, but I would still buy one because the car does impress with how well goes in all other aspects. I just hope updates can iron out the foibles over time.

I got the same noise when I start the AC remotely from the BYD app to cool down the car before I reach to it in the parking lot during hot days. When I drive the car normally I don't hear that sound. Also I noticed that when I increase the AC fan speed the noise is louder. Is it the heat pump? Why I don’t hear this noise when I drive the car normally with the AC on? Is this normal?

Is it really low end, if that is true where does the seagull and the Dolphin fit in; ultra low end. It is a mid range car, around $50k in Australia and well enough equipped, comfortable, strong safety scores and with enough performance to sit in this price bracket no problem. EV's excel in the city, stop start motoring, if that is not your predominant use case, perhaps look elsewhere. There is a taxi in China I believe has done around 1 million kms and lost around 5-8% in the battery. The average driver should get at least 30 years out of it.

@@davidwgrainger byd started as a battery manufacturer, their batteries are high tech and no doubt about that. Iam concerned about the quality and the reliability of the car itself , especially the mechanical aspect of it

@@cclenergy3033 You guys are just highlighting the problem with the internet - nobody knows who's telling the truth and who's lying, nor what their motives are. It happens everywhere and there's no remedy for it, sadly. I can give you my quick evaluation, but am I a liar or telling the truth? Is someone paying me, or not? It's the car is worth buying due to the way it drives and the long-term economy, despite having a lot of bugbears. One offsets the other. That's my opinion.
Now for some things you can figure out for yourself:
If you live in QLD, like me, it is a viable proposition as an economical buy compared against direct competition, and that $6,000 rebate is a big factor. For a start, it is much better than the MG ZS EV on specs for the difference in outlay. Compared against ICE cars; they don't get the 6 grand, and they pay about $2 a litre while I use my roof solar. Again, being in sunny QLD is a factor, and you have your own situation to do the maths, not mine. Under 2 years back I made a couple of videos saying EVs were not worth looking at, but 3 months back I was ready to update my wife's Polo, and did the research from scratch. It wasn't easy doing a backflip, but I deal in facts, so bit the bullet and went EV. I still keep my SLK350, so the best of both worlds. I would not get an EV if I didn't have an ICE car as well. I hope this helps?
