- Buying a used race bike is a great idea, but one of the downsides is that you don't know if it's been built to a high enough standard. My good mate, and TT legend, Dan Cooper, had a few questions about the wiring on two recently acquired Yamaha R6s, and after some investigation, we discovered some, potentially, very dangerous issues!

I quite like videos like this where the presenting to the camera is secondary. We still get details and updates on what they're trying to do, but it's more focused on the process than the presentation. Don't get me wrong, I very much enjoy the shop updates and the technical building stuff, but it's nice every once in awhile to just see...work, if that makes sense.
This vid is bang in the centre of my Venn diagram. Almost didn’t have the motivation to jump on the turbo trainer tonight, but what’s better than 35 mins of bike/technical stuff to distract from the pain. Cheers lads 👊🏼

We always run the anodised alloy pro bolts in our subframes, that way in a crash they are soft so they tend to snap and not damage threads. Do the same on rear paddock stand bobbins so it doesn't rip the lugs off the swing arm. That loom is a mess! Worked with several superbike teams in bsb over the past 5-6 years and Angus doesn't make a very neat loom

Good to hear you don’t solder wiring, I’m retired from Audi/VW and it was no solder only heat shrink crimp connectors.

Those wires in the oil pressure sensors should be sleeved after soldering to stop shorting. But solder joints in a dynamic environment with loads of vibration is always bad news as the wire to solder transistion stresses the wire strands. Good catch, when are your hoodies coming back in stock?

Please tell me how they make the green HRC brake hose work on front master cylinder. It's 12mm isn't it . Do they just lockwire it so it clamps around the elbow. Cheers..

Wiring is the raid boss for bikes and cars.
LOL, I got a 2007 CBR with a kit loom and HRC ECU, and wanted to make my own data logger, spent a long time figuring out what all the different plugs are plumbed to and how to connect all that to my own system.
Can we have a follow up tech video on how race spec looms are made.
I think the V2 was running 78% throttle last year in WSBK. i think that will come down. How come they don't run Marelli in BSB.
fault finding is a black art, I have more success waving a rabbits foot over my dodgy electrics 🤣

There should be a standard 5v Plug and a 12v Plug that would sort all that out and it would be esaily be regorgnised.
IMHO, soldered connections are superior IF done correctly. There is no excuse for shorted pins.
Whilst noting electrical connectors are dependant on load, what are generally the best/most reliable for both sensors and load connections ?
Deutsch connectors are good for connecting sub harnesses, inexpensive and you don’t need expensive tools. Bosch sensor connectors are nice, bit of a faff to rebuild. Autosport/milspec is nice, but very expensive.

Yes mate! BSS firmware from 2023 onwards had blipper!
@@REPerformanceUK what you think of it ? I am going get it myself. Ps mectronic is dog shit, we tried it 3 years ago and sent it back . Wiring loom was rubbish although I hear this is the last year of motec in bsb .
@@garymarshall724 last year in BSS….not in BSB. The ecu is very good, it can do some trick stuff but we aren’t allowed for BoP…the Solo looms are junk!
The blipper is mega! Worked very hard on that and the EB strategy to make it 🤯
@@REPerformanceUK i was hoping you would say it’s user friendly out of the box and doesn’t need much setting up. Think lee had issues with it at the start of last year .
