- I've just got back from Spain where I was fortune to be invited on a test week with PCR Performance and the guys from OMG Racing. I took my R6 along for a shakedown and, by the final day, thought I'd set a pretty fast lap...
That was until British Superbike ace, Ryan Vickers, jumped on to show me what a pro rider can do!
Fair play, the boy is FAST!
To make me feel better, I got to have a blast on a proper British Superbike, which was an incredible experience. Thanks so much to Paul Curran at PCR Performance, Ryan Vickers, Kyle Ride, James Hillier, Team OMG Racing - and anyone else I've missed, for such an awesome week.

Bike footage and the ability to talk about riding so good 👍
Carl’s comment cracked me up … ‘yep that’s what I’m doing’. Another great video, the bike chat was super interesting, even for a non rider. Stay humble, it suits ya ! Simmo
As a VAG car mechanic i found the channel for the car content. But as a club racer i love the bike content more because work sucks and racing doesn't
Pcr dynod my yamaha xsr 900 and fitted k tech suspension. Changed the bike completely. Can't recommend these guys enough.
I love listening to Ricky’s thoughts on the bike stuff. It’s like your up the pub with him having a pint. 🍻
Love all the RE Performance content.
Keep up the great work chaps 🏆🥇👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching. Really appreciate it.
Nice to see ya back lad, really enjoyed how the car/workshop stuff drifted off in to bikes which you explained well enough to almost being there. Thanks
I’m not a biker but I love the way you explain the techniques and setup
Great tyre chatter.
Loved the footage (the R6 screaming its head off) and the tech splaining.
Would like to know what you meant when talking about the difference in downshifting between you and the faster boys.
Same I want to know the backshift strategy too
Mint week wasn't it. As always! You were going well, the screamer pipe something else✊
Thanks mate! Was great to hang out all week mate and take the piss! ❤️
You need an rb30 block for the skyline. Check out the skid factory.
Great explanation of how the bsb R1 felt. Ryan Vickers did well this year, should do even better in 2024 👍
head casting holes/pores known as porosity in casting industry
Love the bike talk you are more natural talking about bikes than cars! Quick tip
Don’t mount a camera however small inside your helmet particularly near your temple.
is that some safety thing ?
I hadn't heard that, and was thinking about how good a Polaroid cube would go there
@@Al_is_XXX yes as if you crash and strike your head the camera will strike your head and helmets are designed like that. If it hits your temple it could very well kill you. That is why I mount my go-pro on the front or top of my helmet.
@@jonofalltradesmasterofnone832 yes, I guess so, and the temple is a very vulnerable and fragile part of the head. I am just a bit wary of advertising that you have a video recording of your activities, in case you get stopped on the road and don't have time to eject and eat the SD card...!
Please ramble more about bikes! Love hearing it. We just came back from Carta, we were on track for 3 days after you. 1.42s isnt shy round there! Well done. Nice explanation about Dunlops, have you tried V02's?
1:40.4 was quickest lap! How was your days mate?
@@REPerformanceUK 1.40 flying! It was my first time there, loved the track, cant wait to go back
@@1980jamesm glad you had a good time mate!!
Love the lap footage and bike chat. could you do a video at PCR maybe? bike tech stuff, even if it gets 1 view it would be me. 😂
love the bike content and explanations, being a biker myself its good to see the insight, have you thought about doing the f900 cup in bsb as a bit of a different challenge for yourself at a relatively lower budget than bsb super sport etc
Hi if you hire a dehumidifier and let run in the very wet R8/10 during the day while you’re working I think you will be very surprised and the amount of water that is just sitting in the sound insulation. 👋👋 great videos 100%
That is a very good idea !
Interesting what you said about Dunlop’s!
Remember when I first started using them on my TZ I had to run them at a lower pressure to begin with !as they gave me no feel else
Then I started increasing pressure as I found a point they gave me some warning
Very disconcerting to begin with though
You Lucky man looked like fun jealous as ...running in new toy 765rs can only do 6k😅
Here's a question... On that water logged R8, why not leave a blower fan or a box fan running overnight blowing into the cabin to accelerate the drying? I mean I ask that as if there is some pro level consideration I am not thinking about?
Also consider using an ozone generator for a few hours inside of it once getting it back together to get rid of the mold smell.
Awesome stuff, glad you’re back safe and sound, well done Kate 👍🙏
Cartagena track is about half an hour fom my house 👍👍
Ricky ur positively the best funny talkin weird sounding Machnic across the pond in ever man always enjoy ur vids and always learn me something about shop that me didnt Know lol,Buddy i could listen to the growl of that badass bike fer days and then u threw in Vidjeo on top wow cant imagine how many Diaper changes u went threw cause ckearly i could here ya gigglin u were havin so much fun so again i say congrates my freind its so cool u share ur livin ur dreams Ricky
Be nice to see more work being done and completed rather than just talking about what's gonna be done this week. I think you would have way more subscribers mate
Really good to have a really knowledgeable car guy who’s into bikes as well 🤷♂️🤷♂️😎😎😎😎😎😎👍👌
Really enjoyed that , nice to hear your experience on different bikes and how they reacted to your input ✊
Takeaway from this don't buy an Audi r8 they are trouble. Gearboxes pistons..... super car's are a joke.
Only found you through mat armstrong, have you ever remapped a shitbox 320d m47 bmw tourer 55 plate ?
Did it surprise you that Toprak blew the bmw up first outing ? 🏁
Can you explain what you mean by ‘backshift’ on a bike? I’m guessing it’s weight transfer (?).
Backshift is downshifting the gears
More bike stuff please
Really enjoyed the bike rambling
What is the down shifting technique that the BSB lads do
Even though it was obvious you were pushing harder on your bike, it seemed like there was more of that "neutral time" in the corners than you had on the Superbike.
Yeah….it’s a bit of a faux pas if you are invited to ride a priceless SBK and you throw it up the road because of ego! Yes I could have gone faster but it was a real privilege to be one of the handful of people all season to sit on it!
Loving the bike content 🏁
Whose is the old gc8 impreza ?
need the huddy its not on the shop bro
Knee down pics again?!
I was at Portimao Friday 1st to 3rd. We stayed till 4th so no rushing around. Was in same garage as Kyle Ryde. He was on an almost standard R6 with a faulty QS and still doing 1.47 🤯 Toprak was there on Sunday and popped the new beemer on 4th lap down the start/finish 😮
Unfortunately it was my bike that popped the oil filter on 2nd day on very last session 😢.
But was flat out and thought the gearbox had gone. New oil and filter for it to sound OK. So new tyres as the old set were covered in oil and 4th lap she started knocking when I just started to get on with it 🤬
I had an ex TT R6 albeit 99 carb. Fun machine to ride, but hard work against the then CBR RR. In fact I'm certain i was racing against the Race Developments tuned CBR!
Be interesting to see the evolution difference now!
I'm too old for a bike now having sold my 916 a few years back but I loved seeing the onboard and hearing Ricky describe the tyre sensations. When I'm listening to Hodgy on Moto GP I'm always trying to understand what the riders are feeling from the various brands of tyre and what they are looking to achieve on them, so Ricky did a great job of explaining what it is going to be like for Moto2 riders next year in reverse...going from Dunlop to Pirelli. 👍
Why does that V8 timing chain drive 1 inlet cam and 1 exhaust cam on the opposite bank rather than just driving both inlet cams and having the exhaust cam driven off that or vice versa?
Great vid as usual. One for your Q&A could you tell us a bit about your excellent cameraman. Is he from a motor journal background as he knows a lot about all sorts of cars as well as being a good co presenter.
Awesome video really enjoyed it 😊I thought it was just myself who had a TPMS cover issue 😢I need to order the updated version asap 👍
Ricky, who makes your handle bar switches for the motec loom? They are factory looking compared to the basic ones that comes with the loom …
Does the G85 issue mentioned apply to all R8 / Huracan?
Thanks Rikki been amongst some great riders then in Spain glad you had a great time. Can we see a start up of a re-build please also spin the camera so we can see cameraman for once please.
Hi Rick have you decided what engine you are going to put in the Noble. Great channel keep up the good work
Karl…😆😆😆🤜👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍 “That is what I’m doin’!” Brilliant 👌👌👌
That bike sound just like my Kawasaki quad love it
What is that in helmet camera they are using on the bikes
what's the dimension of your dynocell bro ?
T.B.H. I think you were probably going as fast as Paul (Curran) as I remember when he was racing ! Unless he's got faster in retirement. Say Hi to him from me ... Hee Hee.! Great to see his success with OMG and PCR.
I was never quite on Paul’s level in all honesty and even now his feel and understanding of a bike is impeccable!!
I struggle to think of a team manager in any motorcycle championship in the world that could lap within 7-8% of their riders time on the same day!
Love the bike stuff! More please.
Great wee bleather, ticks all the boxes bit of car bit of bike..❤
Part two😂that it will draw out of the sound insulation.
Evo 9 is easily the most desirable car in this video 🤤
Is vvt a compromise, compared to having fixed valve timing with a performance cam?
Logically not. The fixed cam is not responding to the engine RPM whereas the VVT does, more like a map. Different VVT systems both avoid patent conflict and offer different precision..
Honda, Suzuki and BMW for example.
Great video on bikes and track videos. Nice to see the team was busy and look forward to the next one.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching
Well enjoyed that rick
Very enjoyable as always 👍
Whats "back shifting" , Ricky?
Downshifting mate
@@REPerformanceUK does the pedal on race bikes move the opposite way compared to road bikes?
@@TedTuned It doesn't have to....riders choice. But i do have it the opposite way. Its called race shift.
@@REPerformanceUK cos you're sporty.... hashtag because race bike, yo 😀
Balls of steel lol
great video
