I hope we get to see the rebuild Rik, that second gear looked like it had some serious ooommmpphhh go through it... was well chewed. Great vid as always.
Pretty impressive your knowledge of these super cars, infact seriously impressive, not only is it eye opening its a joy to view, along with all the banter its a great watch and well worth the time
That pic is Noel Fielding not Noel Edmonds 😁 Enjoyed that. You didn't comment on the unique gearbox oil smell! Even my wife knows, when I come in from the garage "urrgggh, you've been working on the gearbox again, it stinks 🤣"
Since Karl loves working on RS6’s so much, can you replace timing chain/guides/tensioners etc on a C7 RS6 Performance… nothing wrong with the car, just preventative maintenance along with engine mounts, centre diff mount… is this in REP’s remit? 👍
I can just about remember where all the parts go if I change a 13 amp domestic plug ….Great skill, and you can see where the cost are when you see that amazing engineering . Good to watch even when you haven’t got a bloody clue what you’re actually looking at 👍
In my mind, easy-ish to dismantle (although experience and skills definitely help) - then buy a full replacement as I would have no idea how it went back together!
Hey camera dude! Pls learn how to do a closeup. Whenever Ricky points out some detail, like damaged gears or whatever, we are guaranteed not to see what he’s talking about because you don’t get close enough, with enough light or focus. Ever. Pick up ya game son. 👍
When someone complains about an hourly rate, they need to be shown this video. Why..? Because the hourly rate represents years of knowledge, experience and skill, shown in this video at how he pulled down a high performance gearbox so easily, quickly and with no damage or problems. Ascertaining what had gone wrong. You pay for the privilege of having experience fix your shit..! Great video 👌🏼
Very cool mate as allways. I will give you a top tip for removing those end caps screw a coarse thread self tapping screw or bolt into them then use a slide hammer to pull them out bish bash Bosh 😎👌 Hi kate ⚘
Yeah the noise would unbearable. they use them in rally cars and race cars but you have ear plugs and a lid on. helical cut gears are smoother and quiet.
Sir, that was outstanding! it was like a meditation, going through the various pieces! I can imag' if you cannot sleep at night, just go through a strip down, or re-build of one for those! Thank you so much, to you and kate :))
Watching this makes me think how do you learn to dismantle something like this Where and when did you start Rick did you have some yoda you used to follow as an apprentice
There's also a great "And THEN..." in a movie called "Pass The Ammo". I won't spoil it for you, but you'll never think of that phrase the same way again. 😉
Its newtons are fucked mate! I’ve a feeling that will go right over your head Rick, but as you’ve just said Kate’s from Manchester, she should be able to explain.
you need to do stuff like this more often!! where we see you in your natural habitat!! reminds me of the days you used to do builds on r8s!!! twin jets lets goo!!!! I hate it when you say Israel... #free Palestine!
My son would love to work for Ricky he loves bike and car engines he is looking for an apprenticeship next July any chance of a apprenticeship or the bolt if things are tight please thanks dave his dad
Why does anyone buy these shite cars, Lambos, Audi, Mclarens they are all junk that lasts ten seconds. If I want a car that I can thrash the crap out of and do fast 0-60s and burnouts I get a hire car. I think a lot of these cars are sold to people with tiny ……
I can just about remember where all the parts go if I change a 13 amp domestic plug ….Great skill, and you can see where the cost are when you see that amazing engineering . Good to watch even when you haven’t got a bloody clue what you’re actually looking at 👍
Love all this tech stuff rick keep it comin 👌
Thank you
Loving the way you just casually chat whilst this jigsaw puzzle is dismantled. Amazing knowledge and skills keep them coming
Thanks 👍
I hope we get to see the rebuild Rik, that second gear looked like it had some serious ooommmpphhh go through it... was well chewed. Great vid as always.
It is crazy you know this like the back of your hand. So skilled!!
Fascinating as always, thanks for sharing this with us.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching
Pretty impressive your knowledge of these super cars, infact seriously impressive, not only is it eye opening its a joy to view, along with all the banter its a great watch and well worth the time

That pic is Noel Fielding not Noel Edmonds 😁
Enjoyed that.
You didn't comment on the unique gearbox oil smell! Even my wife knows, when I come in from the garage "urrgggh, you've been working on the gearbox again, it stinks 🤣"
Awesome video of a strip down and showing the damage parts and advice on up grades. If you are going for big power.
Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed it.
I look forward to your videos! This was fun to watch!
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching. It’s really appreciated
Agreed, unless perhaps you're the poor bugger that has to pay the bill for roasting it in the first place. HoHum 😢
Since Karl loves working on RS6’s so much, can you replace timing chain/guides/tensioners etc on a C7 RS6 Performance… nothing wrong with the car, just preventative maintenance along with engine mounts, centre diff mount… is this in REP’s remit? 👍
I really enjoy the tech stuff. Would be great to see it go back together.
Did Matt Armstrong have his second gear done?
Very enjoyable as always 👍
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching.
Interesting 🤨 and complicated , good to see it go back together 👍
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
That tool that opens the casing isn’t like another Vw tool for doing a certain broken selector fork in a certain Vw gearbox…
on those end seals what about a brass flat head?
I can just about remember where all the parts go if I change a 13 amp domestic plug ….Great skill, and you can see where the cost are when you see that amazing engineering . Good to watch even when you haven’t got a bloody clue what you’re actually looking at 👍
Amazing content so looking forward to it going back together 👍
In my mind, easy-ish to dismantle (although experience and skills definitely help) - then buy a full replacement as I would have no idea how it went back together!
Yeah different job on the assembly! One slip up and it doesn’t work!
I trust we will get to see that in a 7 hour Full-HD extravaganza of geekiness!@@REPerformanceUK
Can we see the whole clean and rebuild, please?
Do you know a company that will cut custom ring and pinion gears for a 6 speed manual gearbox?
Really enjoyed that , tip my hat to your knowledge 👌
Glad you enjoyed it
I was surprised to see they're not straight cut gears on a powerful car like that
Brill vid, Great knowledge, love a brew and gearbox strip vid 😂
Thanks for watching!
Do the mclaren dct's have the magnets that get covered in swarf?
Hey camera dude! Pls learn how to do a closeup. Whenever Ricky points out some detail, like damaged gears or whatever, we are guaranteed not to see what he’s talking about because you don’t get close enough, with enough light or focus. Ever. Pick up ya game son. 👍
29:08 Analysis of what failed with the gearbox
When someone complains about an hourly rate, they need to be shown this video. Why..?

I would also like to see the rebuild as said below 👍🏼
Exactly this! Thanks for watching.
Very cool mate as allways. I will give you a top tip for removing those end caps screw a coarse thread self tapping screw or bolt into them then use a slide hammer to pull them out bish bash Bosh 😎👌 Hi kate ⚘
Thanks for that. We try not to use a screw as it damages the plastic guide behind the cap which we try to retain.
Hi 👋👋.
Is that the same Oerlikon that used to make (or still do?) the old 20mm anti-aircraft cannons?
Hilma vices are top notch and made closer to home
Cutwel tools for a vice, gerardi are decent.
Question for Rick why dont you use straight cut gears on these twin turbo V10 monsters ?
The noise would drown out the sound of the V10 😁
Yeah the noise would unbearable. they use them in rally cars and race cars but you have ear plugs and a lid on. helical cut gears are smoother and quiet.
Sir, that was outstanding! it was like a meditation, going through the various pieces! I can imag' if you cannot sleep at night, just go through a strip down, or re-build of one for those! Thank you so much, to you and kate :))
Ahh thanks so much for watching. Glad you enjoy them.
The most awesome vise on the planet, has to be a 'fractal vise'.
How do you know where it all fits on re-build ???? cheers Rik.
It’s just guess work really 😂😂
Just keep 'smushing' stuff in there until there's no bits left on the bench!😊
How many of these things do you have to strip and resemble to be this good........ 👍
What’s the recommendation for the customer ? Great vids .
He is going for uprated second and we have another input shaft and reverse gear we can use.
Watching this makes me think how do you learn to dismantle something like this
Where and when did you start Rick did you have some yoda you used to follow as an apprentice
You got any spanners ….they must be like new….
Ace as usual.
Thank you
There's also a great "And THEN..." in a movie called "Pass The Ammo". I won't spoil it for you, but you'll never think of that phrase the same way again. 😉
Oerlikon also make 20mm anti-air cannons. They used to, at least...
Well these gearboxes like to explode….
@@REPerformanceUK, which end do you point towards the enemy?
@@REPerformanceUK they explode when you put twice their designed torque through them? Well I'd never! 🤣
@@tocsa120lshahahaha I know right!
I ABSOLUTELY HATE THE KIDDIE CATCHER FROM CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG!!!!!
He scared the shite out of me when i was a kid!! 😂
Me too mate!! Me too!! 😂😂
Its newtons are fucked mate!
I’ve a feeling that will go right over your head Rick, but as you’ve just said Kate’s from Manchester, she should be able to explain.
Haha I do but Rick doesn’t so I’ll leave him guessing a while 😂😂
they break em, you fix em, winner winner champagne dinner
If only it was that simple 🤪🤣
Missing the phone call, this is going to cost you.. suspect those Kiwi gearbox bits aren’t cheap.
Yeah all parts for these boxes are expensive!
Can I have the bent bolt from the lambo gearbox, as it's the only way I could own a lambo 😂😂
Next giveaway? 🤣🤣
you need to do stuff like this more often!! where we see you in your natural habitat!! reminds me of the days you used to do builds on r8s!!! twin jets lets goo!!!!

Evening
Hi 👋
Needs a dodson.
As trolling goes, that's pitiful .
