2020 Subaru Impreza FULL REVIEW AnyAuto

Subaru refreshed Impreza for 2020, building on the good reputation the little hatch built over many years. Although the changes are cosmetic, Impreza remains one of our favourite small cars.
It is great value, has top drawer safety, and a drivability once only associated with posh cars. It now has added safety, extra sound deadening, and better ride and handling.
I (INTELLIGENT) - power output in response to accelerator operation is moderate, creating smooth, environmentally-friendly performance. The Intelligent mode throttle characteristic is designed for low fuel consumption.
    Outside:
Impreza appears little changed. The look is slightly muscular without being overdone.
There is a distinct “Japanese” look. Head and tail lights are LED. The slim front end and pert rear are relatively plain for those who prefer an understated look.
There are a few subtle character lines along the side to continue the simple, uncluttered look.
There are 4 models, 2.0, 2.0i, 2.0i Premium and 2.0i-S. Our car, the S, is the range topper with all the bells and whistles.
There is a standard sunroof for people who like a spot of sun. For summer, keep the dual-zone air conditioning set on deep freeze with everything closed up nice and tight. Exterior mirrors fold when you lock the doors.
Door locking is via proximity sensors, which allow the key to remain secreted safely about your person. Press the indented lines on the surface of the door handle to lock, the inner surface of the same handle to unlock. Check folding mirrors for locking confirmation rather than pulling on the door handle, for obvious reasons.
Unlocking the boot also unlocks all doors.

    Great review and spot on.
We bought an Impreza S in 2017 and have been very happy with it. It’s safe, well equipped, reliablr, comfortable, economical and spacious. Pretty much all we wanted in a hatchback.

Great review mate, all others bang on and on about the limited 2 litre sub-par boxer engine but not everyone is looking for thrills. I am searching for a smooth, comfortable and reliable ride experience, NOT a powerful sporty one.
Thank you for restoring my faith in this vehicle as it is my preference.

I bought recently in Thailand a 2020 XV - very much a lifted Impreza I believe. It was made in Malaysia. P level of trim etc, but it does not have a lot of the electronic gizmo's a similar model has in Oz. eg, no 'eyesight" which cuts a big hole in features. However it does have three excellent features which you didn't talk about but which I' m sure the Impreza would have. They are 1. Headlight washers which operate whenever you operate the screen washers. 2. The "no blind spot" window ahead of the rear view mirrors - very useful here where you are besieged by motor cycles in traffic appearing from nowhere, and 3. Headlights which look around a corner to light your way as you turn the wheel - very nifty! Very good headlights even without that refinement.
Cheers and thanks for your review.

LOVE the review thanks mate! Best one I seen all the ones I been looking at so far…50 or lore lol. Had a few questions though…I’m getting the 2019 version of this and not sure if it’s got all of those features(like the duel cameras when reverting) also. What was the button you pressed to to turn on SI drive? Thanks again. Can’t wait to get mine soon and test all it’s got out.

I test drive this model after a massive ice an snow storm
True to it’s word all wheel drive is the only way to go and it really works wow wow wow wow wow
I had to do a quick maneuver there was something in the road and the car stuck
I had to pull over cause of the snow plows and the snow and ice on the side of the road did not suck me into a ditch
Even at stop lights the car moves no wheel slipping ever

I like the Canadian version better, among others because 1 - we have a stick shift, which I chose, 2 - the hand brake is manual and not electronic and 3 - my car has Android Auto (I don't use Apple at all). I'm getting 9 L/100km city and 6.7 L/100Km highway. On top of that there is no better car for driving in our Canadian winters

I’m picking this car up next month. I would have loved for it to be a manual and was tossing up between this and the Toyota Corolla (the only hatch with a manual transmission in Australia) but at the end of the day the Subi won out for the all wheel drive. As much as I love a manual car I really do need that all wheel drive more. Also the Impreza looks nicer.
