    Welcome back to TheDriveGuyde where I have the keys to 2019 Subaru Impreza Hatchback! This compact car comes as either a sedan or a hatch with the choice of a CVT transmission or manual 5-speed.
    This Subaru is a very popular choice in this segments that to standard AWD and a fair few other features buyers are demanding in cars these days. So let’s go for a drive to find out where the Impreza places in my Ranking System.

    I think the car is sporty looking . Better than the lego looking Civic. Also , the new platform is very strong. No mention on its excellent crash test ratings. I'm not sure about the car you drove but in sport tech and limited trim the ride is very refined and quiet. Agree with most of the review but not the noise and refinement issues you point out

    Just that key man. I don’t like traditional keys damaging my pocket. However I actually like the body design and AWD

    people complain about the CVT a lot but it does help the mpg. the 5 sp. manual (though outdated) is still the way to go but at the cost of a few mpg on average.

    You are too hard on interior material quality aspect of this Subaru. Look at the price. What else can you get with four wheel drive and reasonable roominess for that price? And the interior is so functional. There is a reason these things sell in huge numbers

      @@yourmanzach2307 Mazda 3 with awd is close to $28K CDN list with Freight and PDI. The touring trim for the Impreza is $25K. The Mazda3 is suffering in sales (down 25% in Canada year or year for September 2019), and the first culprit is that consumer's aren't buying into it being up-scale.

    I purchased a new Impreza in 2018. My only complaint is POWER...Please Subar, put in the 2.5. GET RID OF the 2.0. The competition is walking all over this car when it comes to power. Otherwise, the Impreza is,a very nice little car

      Subaru hopes your next Subaru will be one with a bigger engine.

  • @jamessimonds7362

    One thing I really like. The wide opening of the doors. I have arthritis real bad on both knees. The door openings, allow me to enter and exit easily. This was the main selling point when I purchased my 2018. I'm ready for,a new one, but that 2.0 is not enough power. The 2.5 would be a better engine. You put it in the new crosstrek, but not the Impreza. WHY?

    I have a love hate relationship with my 2019 impreza. It does not have auto door locks it does have an extremely small gas tank. City driving you will be lucky if you get 230 miles on a tank.

    • @SameBasicRiff

      depends on how you drive it imo. I dont get 390km on a tank unless I have winter tires on - the roads are horrible for a long period - AND im driving poorly. And that's being generous. I always get 450+ km year round and 500+ km in the summer (country roads + city).

    Fantastic review. Really love the style. As far as the Impreza goes, I just wished it didnt have a cvt. Other than that it's a great daily car for the price.

    I leased a 2019 Impreza two months ago,.......based pretty much on the cost per month. It's ok,......like most short wheel base cars it doesn't tackle bumps well,......but it's got some zip and I don't mind driving it around town. Not sure I'd lease another Subaru.

  • @jamessimonds4458
    @jamessimonds4458 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Impreza does not compare with the Mazda or the civic. Where Subaru does win, is its AWD standard. But it loses in the power department. Put the 2.5 in this car, you will have a winner.

  • @antonioalvarado1541
    @antonioalvarado1541 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In my humble opinion...
    The GOOD: Looks-wise, Subaru is a little behind w/other auto-makers, but the Impreza is easy on the eyes. Could be reliable. It's HUGE inside (offers the most in this class of small Hatchbacks!)...compare its cargo space to that of the Civic & Corolla Hatchbacks!
    The BAD: Not good on gas. 5 speed manual is a little behind (w/so many cars already w/6!). It's a little too low to the ground. Could NOT be reliable (specially the CVT)...have you read how many re-calls this model had in 2019?! > I like this car and I need to buy a new car, but not sure 100% about this one...that cargo space though!...

      That Mazda3 has possibly the worst interior for functionality I have ever come across, I test drove it before deciding on the Impreza and was blown away by how terrible the interior was when compared to the interior of the Impreza but also when compared to the BEAUTIFUL exterior of the Mazda3. I love the lines of the Mazda, but given the terrible interior and the reverse camera which looks like something off of a child's toy, I gave it a hard pass.

      Mazda=prettier, faster, way too much $ (I guess they think they're the "BMW of Japan"...specially if you want a manual) and that rear view (or lack thereof) is DANGEROUS!

    • @SameBasicRiff
      @SameBasicRiff 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How people can like the interior of a Mazda is shocking. They are complete functional messes, made to look like someone drew it with no idea how it would work.
      Also - AWD is unmatched with any subaru.
      Plus you get a more smooth driver assist tech with eyesight imo.
      To say it has more space and nothing else is just biased AF.
