One of the reasons SEG use whistles, is because of the continuous siren noises in London (Police, LAS & LFB), people become oblivious and don’t pay attention to the doppler effect of sirens, because they hear it 24/7. The whistle noise is effectively an unusual sound in central London, so people pay more attention. The R1300GSA is a lovely looking bike, not sure if I’ll be changing from my 1250 just yet, but when I do I’ll be bringing it straight to you, to work your magic. Stay safe mate and keep up the awesome work.
Thanks Steve for this R1300 GSA content and addressing Lone Rider’s Motolight (which I have a pending order for). PLEASE fit the bike with the lights you mentioned for the upcoming Chigee event. It will certainly help many, to include myself, determine what lighting solution to commit to. Again, great segment and very informative.
I must admit when I first saw the new BMW GSA I did not like it. But now it has grown on me and it does look better in the flesh. I have heard that Pidcocks have got too offers in too buy the business and I really hope so I got my BMW from them and they have fantastic staff so fingers grossed Steve 👍
Although I am a Honda guy I enjoy your channel. As for switching from clutchless to clutch you will probably forget. I did for a while but I am sold on DCT
Had my first GSA ride today. A strange experience but ..................... I thoroughly enjoyed it. The auto box may take some getting used to though. It is cool that you can have it in auto but still overide it manually if you want or you can leave it just in auto or .............. just do the gear changes manually without a clutch lever obvs. The manual shift up and down was SO SILKY SMOOTH in comparison to my Gear Shift Pro. I was pretty much against the bike look wise when I first saw it but now, it's certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that one might make it to my garage. It has great road presence but agree with you that the auxiliary lights are lacking certainly compared with the Denali's that you fitted to the BEAST!! I look forward to seeing what you do to it. Regards to you and Tom.
I hope those new lights have a more neutral colour than the Denali and Clearwater, which have an awful 6,000 kelvin temperature that results on a tyring ride for the eyes and lot of reflection from fog and dust. So far, the only hi end lights brand that is choosing the right tone of 5,000 kelvin are Baja Designs, and you can immediately appreciate that great difference. Sadly their designs are not as compact as Denali or Clearwater, since their target market is 4x4.
@@ABIKETHING First, I should have edited my comment to read "I'm mostly impressed he CAN walk the bike like that." Yes, walking a big bike especially up onto the ramp is something I think I'd have a hard time with.
New Subscriber ... As a previous owner of a 1250GS, I have to admit I like the GSA over the GS1300 and confirmed during my test ride. But it's too expensive for this retiree, so I'll stick to my RS1250. Strange that you got no heads-up about that dealership going into administration. We've just heard that Colchester Kawasaki is closing its doors soon. I'm still in two minds about getting the Chigee (BMW version) for my bike as I've heard there are issues with connectivity via Android phones?
At first I was thinking Clearwater or Baja Designs but then you said it was a UK company so it must be Lazer, very cool. As far as the Motolights go, they look good but the product videos I have seen show a relatively tight beam, not suitable for Australia's hopping wildlife :) My Baja Design XL80s may not have quite the same reach but the beam width is extraordinary. Also the latest Hex firmware update for the Ezican permits control of the Motolights via a standard Ezican rather than only the Motocan which is a sensible move.
Yes I always knew hex ezcan was going to be compatible with the moto lights. It’s a shame Denali aren’t allowing their cansmart to work with the ezbus tech but fingers crossed there’s a chance that could change in the future.
Have to say that when I read the (unfortunate) news about Pidcocks, one of my first thoughts went back to your previous video detailing the intended purchase of the GSA, recollecting that your GS had came from them in 2023. Pretty rubbish that you have had to buy the same bike "twice" effectively. Even less great for the employees of course although I read that a deal has now apparently been done for some parts of the business. Will be interested to see how the GSA looks once kitted out.
Bike looks great plus all the extras & I'd definitely go ASA, but holy mackerel..... this is just so far out of my league. This is without doubt a rich mans game. The first 1300 out just looked like a D-Strom, but the Adventure is looking sweeeeet !
Have followed the channel for years Steve and always end up thinking how on earth can you strip a bike down, fiddle about with all the wiring and other components and not completely invalidate the BMW Warranty? I would have thought they would reject any warranty claims so I welcome your take on that.
Maybe Motorrad group would have this opinion but the dealers understand their customers want to adventurise their bikes. It’s of no interest to a dealer to hold a customer over a barrel when carrying out professional customisation to a bike. Warranty is required when things go wrong. A dealer will carry out that warranty repair in best way possible and charge it back to the manufacturer. If they can charge it back to the manufacturer, they will. You would need to go a long way in changing a bike for it to totally void a warranty as in removing key sensors so the factory diagnostic tool can no longer recognise the bike. You’d be on sticky ground then.
I love the ASA, having tried it on the std GS! As far driving different bikes - do people who drive auto cars then a manual loan care or drive their partner's manual car have a problem? Extremely rarely I would suggest.
Not completely.. I have a manual transporter and a dsg works transporter.. both pretty much the same and a few times I roll in a roundabout etc, van juddering away and not changed down😂 Mostly when I’m on auto pilot to be fair 😳😳
Wow & Hi Steve , I’m shocked at the news about our local dealer . As you said some really great staff there and like you I wish them all well. Hopefully the administrator will find a buyer to take the debt on and relaunch Pidcock BMW. I worry for you regarding the cash you’ve handed over .Always pay on credit card guys . PS, loving the sport dash mode on my GSA you set up. Did you get sorted with the baby GS310 😉
Regarding Lone Rider Steve I wouldn't worry about Lone Rider, I've bought multiple products from Lone Rider and I've pretty much returned almost everything I've bought from them. That said I've never returned anything I've bought from you.
HI Steve, amazing and honest video, thanks for this. I am one of the naughty ones who bought motolights (huge discounts on premiere) but brackets/soundbomb wiring/peak design from you (and soon also innovv). Does it mean I cannot install all together via their motocan?
Yes it does but the support is limited at the moment. The emergency features to get you going and reading fault codes all works. The funky stuff such as dash updates and recoding lights etc isn’t available as of today’s date but I’m sure it’ll come down the line soon.

I’m not sure. At this point in time all I can is the 1300gs is physically smaller than the 1250gs albeit the 1300 engine has to be heavier due to it being fully water cooled. In contrast The 1300gsa is physically bigger than the 1250gsa. They haven’t even tried to slim it down.
The really sad part is that you paid some/part of the cost of the bike just before they went into administration. This is happening all over the country. No one will convince me that when you handed over the money they did not know that they were heading into administration but they took the money.
It wasn’t some of the money. I paid it in total. I’ve been in business since I left school and I had a business that was facing administration which I managed to save. None of my 30 staff had any clue. It’s crucial the staff are protected from it until the final hour as they generally can’t take the stress or more to the point shouldn’t be subjected to the stress.
100% agree just shows all this time just what type of people you’ve been dealing with. Owners-franchise owners just don’t rock up to work on a Monday morning and decide they’ve gone into liquidation. It’s total dishonest and even feels like theft.
@Drewstheboy well the final decision making can be right up until last hour but also liquidation and administration is two totally different positions

After seeing a pair in-person on a 1300 GS they are a large light, in my opinion you need a bike with a large front end or the lights look over sized
