Great review, Akra full system for me all day long 👍 Your spot on with your warranty and dealer comments. If you buy any Ducati or Ktm you can add a full system that will arrive with the bike direct from the manufacturer. They want there engines to run how they were originally intended ✊ Looking forward to seeing the dyno results 👍
Great review, as always. I just installed the Akra headers and have about 60 miles on the bike with them on and I haven't received an error code...yet. I also have the Healtech servo eliminator so maybe that's why nothing has popped up yet. I have some videos on my channel about it so hopefully that helps.
Can you not just fit a healtech switchable eliminator on ! I've fitted it to mine , flick if the switch and it's ope or closed. Obviously I don't have the Akro headers.
Yes you can, we showed and tested this on the part 1 video th-cam.com/video/JK7oaiIMFws/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ldUwAeATdY-FuffQ It's an option which is the most cost effective but putting cost aside......the Jekill and Hyde wins the flap war
I’ve currently got the double barrel ackra which sounds terrible. I’m thinking new ackra headers and heal tech unit to see what can be achieved without replacing everything or spending £3.7k on fitting the J&H with ackra header system. Were the baffles removed from the ackra slip on ?
Hard to gauge the sound, even with the external mic. Suspect a really good mic in your helmet like the vloggers use might give us a better idea of what you’re hearing. I’ve got the HealTech servo eliminator on my 1300 and no engine lights; wouldn’t that do the trick here? I’ll be interested in your experience at BHP; considering doing the same next year, although I would keep the OEM Akra pipe the bike came with, so would be great to hear that option too… thanks!
I admit I did miss it because I zoomed ahead to hear the sweet sound of the exhaust note. Now that I’ve paid attention thanks for the real world discussion on the warranty issue and dealer motivation vs corporate fine print. Love the sound with the J+H valve half open. Perfect!
Performance-wise the bike should run cooler and improve longevity of the engine with the caveat that you have a proper tune or up-map to manage the air:fuel and you run the valves properly. If the valve is run by the ECU then you will have. A power jump and better fuel economy - need to manage the back pressure.
It's funny how everyone has different tastes. I absolutely hate pops and crackles on any bike or car. It is something that really drives me mad, even it it is just a little. I like a lot how BMW boxer exhaust sound (just the exhaust, not the engine mechanical sewing machine sound). It is beefy and bold, but with refinement (unlike HD, which lacks synchronisation and I absolutely hate that as well). For me, the best BMW boxer sound by far is from the R1200GS air/oil cooled stock from 2010 to 2013. Not loud at all but very beefy, raspy and deep. Usually for me the sweet spot in most of the bikes is stock can with cat removed. It makes the engine run smoother, cooler and with more instant power, just making it sound a tinny bit more bold. I would appreciate a lot if you can do a video demo with the stock can and the decat header. It will be nice if you can also include a demo for the stock header without any can at all.
Possibly. Haven’t given it much thought. However, remember I passed him on the A road and then he passed me when I pulled over to speak to camera. I then came up behind him and then he put his foot down. Probably not caught well on camera but he certainly got quicker when he saw me approaching and then had to take the lines he was taking. From my perspective he was definitely trying to show me he was quicker than me. No doubt about that
I feel like the half open sounds too raspy, almost like a sore throat. Full open has a lot lower tone, I like it! Got the catless and an SC Project on my 1200 🤙🏻
exhaust mods are so overrated other than the horrific noise that non bikers have to put up with ..just saying its a vanity project shouting “look at me” nothing more when arriving at your local Starbucks, because that noise from the exhaust will kill your ears in no time on a long distance tourer ?? and im gonna assume that most people wear earplugs anyway so no point in fitting one for personal enjoyment, reminds me as a kid putting lolly pop sticks in your bicycle wheels ..and no i will never agree that loud pipes save lives .
You’re wrong! Delete your comment now to save face. 🙄😉😊. Google the founder Igor Akrapovic. On top of this….think Serbian or Croatian tennis players with a surname like Djokovic or Ivanisevic all pronounced with VICH at the end. These countries including Slovenia all previously formed Yugoslavia. However, I too was ignorantly pronouncing it wrong before I was corrected. Every day is a school day.
Awesome video! Yea, that J&H 1/2 open sounds great! Best!
Curious, what windscreen is on your GS? Beautiful bike for sure! Best!

Steve, thanks for the great content.
Has a warning sign popped up yet, how do you remove it when it happens?
Ps you should fit the R&G boot guard kit to protect your bike and frame from your boots. Keeps everything looking fresh.

@@ABIKETHING 🤣😂 I'm sure it does 👌🏼
Hey Steve, how are the error messages so far? Greetings from Belgium.
Twins and triples always sound better with less restrictive exhausts.
Where can I buy the decorative foil from this bike ?
You do hear the Shift Cam, does not needs remapping
Useful comment I’ll take to BHP with me
Sir. The old one is a catalytic for euro5+ right?
Yes
Hi. How would just akra headers sound with standard end can
Not sure. If we had a standard end can here, we would’ve tested it.

Check the other video I mentioned at the beginning of the video. We demo the set up you are referring to. No baffles were removed in this video.
@@ABIKETHINGHi Steve I’m saying add the new ackro header and keep the existing slip on can. I don’t think you had the new headers in the first vid.
Sorry to be a pain, could you get it up the road with the Akra can on for 5

Does changing to the Akra headers affect the BMW warranty?
I’m sure I high light this subject in the video. Did you miss this?

We offer a titanium exhaust for the r1300GS if you want to review it
What brand ?
Are there any appreciable performance benefits or fuel savings as a result of fitting any of these exhausts?
For now it’s what you see. Sound and enjoyment but there will be another video in the new year when we map it and make some measurements
"Bit of a race!"
bonito som na cidade quero ver o pião na estrada com esse barulho rodando 800-- a 1000km
Hi, where was the graphics kit made?
I had this done by shred graphics in May 2024

What’s the engine guard you are using?
They’re just oem engine bars
Hey Steve, are you going to make a video about the lone rider moto lights?
It’s already been filmed. We have a few ‘in the can’ videos we’re holding back for various reasons. It’s coming through.
@ can’t wait
I prefer the full Akra.
More noise. The better! But does it need a reflash? I would think soo
Well there’s mixed opinions on this but we’ll be making another video on this in January
Sounds like a racket to me.i guess it hides the engine noise of the 1300.
The error message will pop up after about 50-60 km-s
That’s interesting. I’ve been hearing this. I wonder why 50 to 60 kms? Why not immediately?
Just over a Thousand pound just for the Tail Pipe Have u won the lottery?
No but once it’s on and you’re enjoying it on your bike you’ll feel like you’ve won the lottery 😉
@ABIKETHING You've got to buy it first 🙄
The person in the BMW estate wasn’t racing, just good ‘road craft’ so I’m tipping off-duty or services trained driver.

You can,t do that in Deutschland.
Everyone in England 😂. What a narrow mind, nothing else exists except in England 😂
No guarantee of your warranty!
Avec des clowns comme ça on va avoir droit à une flopée de nouveaux radars anti-bruit. "So good". 🧠 de poule.

Fair points. Thank you for commenting.
I agree completely. Riding for 38 years now and never understood why it is so manly to make noise on a bike. It is annoying.
@@ABIKETHINGyou are spineless
Valved exhausts makes so much sense, loud when filtering and out on a Sunday morning blast but quiet on a long slog.
It wouldn't do if we weee all the same
Learn to pronounce it correctly as per the manufacturer Akra Po Vic 😉

Literally the founders surname, he’s an “itch” like many surnames from the countries in the region
