Giving Lara the ability to use spells. That sounds like a risky plan that could very easily backfire.
What do they mean about that like fire en water spells ? Its kinda weird.
Not sure of this terminology as could be interpreted a few ways but, if its like witch spells - I mean where does that come in - some sort of witchcraft she been reading on the side in college ? Seems a very odd move, there may weird shit in the tombs etc. but, her to dabble and learn and use... nah... Didnt think it was that sort of game and sounds off putting - ability skills for running or jumping yeh sure but, SPELLS... cmon.. Its not immersive or part of her history.

Finally, someone not bashing an open-world Tomb Raider. I think it'll definitely be incredibly unique and stand out from the other games in the series and I hope the leak is true
They needed a new direction, I think driving around a big map with a motorcycle could be super cool

Thank you everyone else acting like PlayStation done nothing wrong, Xbox shares it's game to ps and ps can't even share ONE game helldivers 2 and thinking they are high horse rn but they need to be sued with blocking country's on PSN, Xbox brought 4 IPS yes sad for some but it is how it is

The Helldivers 2 saga is not over as it's still de-listed in most countries, probably by Steam. I'm surprised you didn't mention Ghost of Tsushima also was removed from most of those same countires.
Microsoft (and hopefully other game companies) need to stop trying to pad subscriptions which makes them LESS money than selling the games directly. This actually works against the consumer because they get less games to play, but ensures that better games get made instead of cranking out tons of crap just to make a larger game library.

I called this back when they announced they were putting all their games on game pass day one. You lose a lot of money putting multi-million dollar projects on a subscription-based service. Hope in time they fix stuff.

They HAVE to release Spiderman 2 on PC as soon as possible. The leaked build restoration project is playable and it is almost completed. Sony is going to lose on a lot of sales if they are not quick enough.
Tomb Raider doesn't need a new direction. The remaster showed people are still interested in classic Lara Croft

The new tomb raider is being developed by crystal dymanics n Amazon games, so i do hope it'll be return to TR trilogy 2006-09 in an upgraded modernized way, as i had a blast wz it back in the day. I didnt care much bout survivor trilogy

I suspect MS closed the studios but shifted the talent (if they’re smart)
They apparently did that mostly with Arkane Austin. I doubt the Japanese studio Tango could make a similar transition.

I feel bad for Tango games - although HiFi Rush was not my kinda game - it was obviously well recieved. So if they have been let go - are they not allowed to reform and make own studio again? I dont understand what hold xbox have after letting them go. Why dont these teams stick a finger up and band together as a new studio from the studios that have been let go and prove a point - I mean seems like a lot of talent is now floating and could be an opportunity for Sony to swoop in and pick up some extra talent ? For the Tomb Raider brand, spells in the vein of Avatar the Last Air Bender would be compatible and users would try. However spells in the vein of horror, Resident Evil, and other downbeat brands won't appeal to TR fans. Consider: Shadow of the TR has Lara accidently create deadly flood and almost the end of the world. I'm 73, have played almost every TR game. I thought this was handled very tastefully for the brand and for the gameplay. Based on sales, a darker more Alan-Wake-TR is not what fans are wanting. I agree.
Jorr, whether you cover it on this channel or on the podcast with Luke, what do you think of the IGN article talking about the higher ups in Microsoft wanting to turn Xbox Gaming into Microsoft Gaming and have more control over Xbox (Destin Legarie and Ryan McCaffrey from IGN discussed this). This is a huge ethos change from that Power On documentary they released where the success of Xbox was to keep mainland Microsoft and “the suits” away.
It just seems like elder scrolls and fallout will be the main focus for Xbox and Bethesda going forward. Xbox really was so positive at one point. Now they’re extremely dodgy at this point. And I even own an Xbox series s 1TB version which was hard to get I have to say too.

Unique smaller map instead of an open world is honestly better. I find big open maps tend to be super boring and filled with uninteresting fillers. The far cry fomula sucks big time
The first crystal dynamics game was all set on the same island and was semi open world and that was praised. Also many open world games have loads of different places valhalla is set on two different continents🤷♂️
I agree Tomb raider needs a new direction. I want a mansion where you can collect stuff and show off and lots of outfits you can display and get missions from there and store vehicles . The open world sounds good. New hairstyles would be awesome to get. You know you can play with the original look but for others who want to play more of a lara croft their way it would be fun. Spells sound interesting to me. I wasn’t terribly looking forward to a new tomb raider because it would of probably been more of same last three looking games but I’m kind of excited. Microsoft just needs fun exclusive games. Competition is good and i want to see them thrive. I would of bought an xbox for fable 4 if it was a big open world fun game with lots of stuff to do. I was excited for it. They just need to concentrate on fun exciting awesome exclusives. I loved it when sony and Microsoft competed. It makes things better for fans. Passion and fun for better games.

If call of duty was on Gamepass by now im sure they would have gained a lot of subscibers and Xbox Series sales would have sky rocket by now.
That is the currently the bet they have to make, but the other side of the coin could be that people who normally buy the game now only subscribe to game pass for a month or 2 and instead of paying the 70 dollars.
Also at this point in the live cycle I doubt people will jump to Xbox just for cod on game pass, if you are that hardcore it will likely still be cheaper to buy it then pay for that subscription every month to play the game for a full year.
CoD and Blizzard games are MMO that will always have thousands and thousands of people playing them everyday gamepass will always have such players subscribed it will be a lifetime commitment to some players.

I think you are wrong - the gamepass is their most successful venture, and is a constant revenue stream for them. There will come a time when you cant buy a game to own, you will have to subscribe for access. Hence why Ubisoft, EA and even Sony are doing the same style subscription service. Dont believe me, just watch
Maybe but we are super far from that reality. The fact now is that there hasn't been growth to subscriptions for a very long time, while it needs to get to those levels to be sustanable.

They are banking on Elder Scrolls 6 to pull them out from the depths and my guess is it won’t make back what it cost to make it. I’m not buying an xbox to play to just to be extremely let down and out hundreds of dollars when it completely sucks and will be the last elder scrolls game we see.

Subscriptions f us all over silently.
1. Small budget games like hi fi rush are excellent yet they wont bring new players to subscriptions or to eco system. Nowdays a publisher wants just 1 thing bringing more people to thier ecosystem. So no matter what success smaller games get they will never satisfy publishers.
2. Subscription services had make sure we always have a lot to play/try. So when a new game comes we dont get a fear of missing out like we use to. Most of those whovare on a budget plays the subscription till the game they want wither drops in price or comes to subscription.
Bad sales of ff7 rebirth shows this flaw. Ff7 remake was on subscription within a year. People who enjoyed the game by subscription dont forget that easy. They are expection rebirth to do the same leading to poor rebirth sales and probably hurting developers the most.

I hope that Tomb Raider game fails miserably. Crystal Dynamics hasn't suffered enough after the Avengers game.
I cancel my Gamepass subscription till they put a new game out that I want, Then I’ll cancel again a month or two later after I beat it. I’d imagine a lot of others do the same. Microsoft sh*t themselves in the foot by making Gamepass too good at start and there is no way they can keep it up to maintain subscribers or grow new ones. Not with horrible first party games at least.
While I'm happy that Sony is releasing PS exclusives on PC and will soon release games day 1 on pc, however I feel that this will lower the value of PS alot. I have both a PC and PS5. The only reason I play on PS5 is due to the exclusives and owning a game feels special when a game is platform exclusive. Taking this away and without any drm protection on PC, all sony exclusives will be cracked day 1 reducing their worth alot IMO.
If a game doesn’t make money, who gives a crap about how many game awards it gets!

Tbh... it seems activision is absorbing xbox, not the other way around. Makes sense if you were the higher ups at Microsoft, activison is much more successful than xbox.
Microsoft has been saying the good games are coming for a decade now with nothing to show for it. Makes me feel like a fool for supporting them and having Xbox series X.
Xbox just keeps making Sony look better and better which is insane because Sony is doing so much wrong this generation, but Sony doesn’t have anything to worry about because they actually see they have no competition and that’s why they aren’t afraid now to push more disgusting practices. 👀
