Yeah seriously we shouldn’t be praising companies for releasing broken games then coming back later to finish the job. This only incentivizes this behavior.
Except some are free.
Worst one of all? This years fifa!
Why would you buy that shit and support copy paste @@nathanc4298
@@lawrencetalbot8346They took major hits to their reputations before Cyberpunk everyone had unwavering faith in CD project red. Now? Not so much. Reputation in the gaming space affects your preorders, hype, and early sales.
It’s not like they’re getting off Scott free. Most of these game/companies would of made significantly more money with no cost to their reputation if they’d released full quality
I hate how we live in a time during gaming where we praise companies for fixing games that were absolute crap at launch whether being buggy messes or missing so much content...
Whether it’s how it should be or not if I had to choose I’d rather a company that will continue to fix it no matter what rather than put out slop, let it flop and then give up on it. A lot more respect for the dedicated than the quitters. I do feel like we underestimate how dead gaming would be right now if every developer gave up on a game that wasn’t enjoyable for the players or didn’t make them enough money.
At least they fixed anything, they don’t have to since most of them already have your money.
So its bad for a company to keep working on it and not give up on it thats a weird take
I feel like it's less about praise and more about "hey everyone, this game is actually pretty good now if you were looking to play it"
Why do game companies get a hall pass for defrauding thousands of consumers for millions of dollars? Because of gamers saying stuff like "at least they fixed it and now there's one more good game in the world".
“10 games released too early and in shoddy states but we’re trying to be nice.”
It’s a sad day when we have to resort to games being “at least playable now.”
Yeah I thought the same. The fact we all collectively have been screwed by bad games so much that saying at least is playable is a plus sucks.
Especially way after their original release date. And then they just get to a point where they're abandoned completely after being "fixed" into a playable experience.
general public when games released unfinished 10 years ago: boycott these guys and make sure they actually make a fully released game
general public when a game is unfinished today: nah it'll be fine
what changed? why are people so accepting of unfinished games now?
@@CRAZYMUGMAN Maybe because it keeps happening and some are demoralised to the point that they'll just take the drek sandwich and wait for more.
did we watch 2 different videos? the whole video is about games that are much better than "playable."
I think calling Battlefield 2042's launch rough is a massive understatement Jake.
and it still sucks.
@@Floptarthave you played it all in the last year?
@@lobaandrade7172 I have and I can confirm it still sucks.
@@lobaandrade7172 can confirm its still the worst battlefield released too date..
@@lobaandrade7172 About a month or two ago, I re-download it and put maybe 10 hours into it. They definitely improved the stability and added great QOL features, but it still doesn't feel like a battlefield game to me. I hate the setting, the maps, the operators and I REALLY hate swapping attachments on the fly. I understand that it is necessary to try implementing new things into the franchise, but 2042 just doesn't feel like a Battlefield game to me.

finally someone who knows why techland initially excluded guns from dying light 2, bc it broke dying light's difficulty curve back in the original, kind of hard to keep a good difficulty curve when the players have a shotgun that deals 400+ damage a shot (damage is not exaggerated, there were shotguns that dealt that much damage)
I love that Outriders made it in here! It was rough in the beginning. But I´m still playing it (on the grind) and I just love the whole power-fantasy vibe once you understand how to make your build work.
I did find enjoyment in it for awhile
Is it cross-platform?
I always thought it was underrated. Really fun if you enjoy co-op looter shooters.
@@JackfromshackYes, apparently.
@@Jackfromshackyes but (from the last time I played) their is no game chat for that. They probably fixed it with that last update but god it was hell when you couldn't use discord on a console
I also want to point out one thing you didn't mention for Dying Light 2.
TechLand also changed and altered entire cutscenes,
I can't think of many games that have done that.
Remember all those times that Aiden gets sucker punch in a cutscene? They change some of those scenes entirely.
Companies like TechLand are worth treasuring
When Dyling 2 came out it was filled with bugs and while usually I’d count a game out for that (BF 2042 had just came out) I had faith that techland would fix and improve the game overall
@@GreenSupreme.223 and would you look at that, both games got worked upon and improved
@@14mgodno. They lied about the story, which was half finished, they removed a bunch of things from the first game like guns, thrown weapons etc, and it was one of the buggiest games on launch. They cut everything made by Chris Avellone because of false sa allegations which was mostly story and choice based, and they lied about crossgen coop. Techland can gladly die.
That's true, I can't actually think of *any* other games that significantly changed story cutscenes through a post-release patch. That's serious commitment to your game.
Also worth a mention that Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr is getting an offline mode 6 years after release.
Fuk yeah really nice I got it on sale and can see myself playing for a long time. Offline is better and if it runs on steamdeck fuk yeah!
Gotta spend real money for items unless you grind a crap ton of hours too the game sucks
This upload reinforces more eloquently than i ever could, why preordering and day one is not the best idea
Go for the Netflix effect, if it doesn't do well first season then dropping it.
Another great comeback is State of Decay 2. I have over 1,000 hours in it, and played since launch in 2018. The launch version was fun for me, but I get why people were saying the things they were saying. Undead Labs buckled down and has been overhauling the game little by little every update. They even did a visual remaster where things looked a ton better, played better, and added new maps. Along with dlc which were included in this visual overhaul. In 2024 they’ve finally wound down support so the entire team can work on SoD3. My favorite comeback.
Just started this today on Gamepass for the first time. I’m enjoying it so far.
The biggest issue is every update broke the prior update or never fixed it to begin with. I dont know how many times the release notes said "fixed blah blah" and within ten minutes i saw every "fix" still there broken. Last i layed they at least got the bloaters to stop spawningn in bases and on rooftops at least. I see the latest update you can drop rucks into outpost. That being said i have 1500 hours on it as well and would have never done so without the community editor. Had to use it for the longest time gifting myself back repair kits. You basically had a 60/50 chance of repairing a vehicle and it either worked or exploded and threw the vehicle across the map.
sometimes watching the gameplay in these GameRanx clips, it looks like I'm watching a bot play
Lmfao I’m saying, but can’t blame them since they mostly talk about games and play them just enough to get a review out
I also don’t really appreciate how every single game is chronically played on controller as well. Like, don’t get me wrong, it feels good to sit back and play games on a controller where it’s warranted and it fits the game (Spider-Man and the Star Wars games are good examples). But FPS games in general shouldn’t be using controllers and the review footage all has the same floaty and crazy low sensitivity look to them. Literally the only game on this list that doesn’t use controller is a 4X game that doesn’t support it
have to agree
@@JLogg444majority of gamers play on console.

Everytime I return to BF2042 after an update I still came away disappointed. I think my hope for the series has finally died. BF4 and Bad Company 2 were some of my favorite multiplayer shooters. Heartbreaking
I’m the opposite, I keep wanting to play every time I boot it up. I find it way more fun than the previous two games
@@lobaandrade7172 I mean there's people who would say the same about Suicide Squad. Doesn't make them good games though.
I like bf2042
I waited until 2023 to play it and I had a lot of fun. Some maps were annoying, but I thought it was pretty good. Inexcusable launch state, but playing it on game pass I had a good time.
@@BerserkKnight Exactly
do enough people still play bf3 or 4? i miss 3 in particular and its always on sale
Thanks for mentioning Breakpoint, it's had an underrated turnaround and no one ever seems to talk about it. It needs more love!
Middle Earth Shadow of War is completely fixed now. It has some flaws but it has become one of my comfy games. Amazing!
I know that Battlefield 2042 got TECHNICALLY fixed but the game still lacks a soul in the most obvious ways. The game never achieved its full potential because EA/Dice never really gave a F to it anyway. Let’s not even talk about Battlefield Portal which could’ve been their biggest redeeming point that they never acted on it
I agree about it not reaching its true potential, but idk what you’re talking about with the soul. If you watch or listen to anything the dev team has put out you’d see the love they have for the franchise and for 2042. And imo it’s more fun than the previous game
They couldn't figure out how to monetize portal so it was left behind.
same with cp.
I don't even remember hearing of 2042 coming out. I've considered getting it still a few times but something just looks off about it too. I wish Dice understood they should release a new improved one. I wish Call of Duty would slow down and not release one every year.
Dice isn't dice. Something like 70% of the original devs of the franchise have migrated on.
Star Trek Bridge Crew no longer requires VR
I don't think it ever required VR, or if it did, they made it playable on pancakes soon after launch if memory serves
The biggest issue with Halo Infinite MP was desync. It's way better now, but for the 1st year or two everyone was having connection issues, and it was borderline impossible to play 5 games without being DC'd at least once.
Remember Cartridge games? How they were COMPLETE when they shipped? Good ole' days...
I remember games on 5 1/4" floppy, and you could use BOTH sides! (Wow, I'm getting old....)
no mans sky and cyberpunk 2077 will hold the title for the best comebacks ever ... but also the worst launch of all time lol, love both of em
cp still sucks as a game. mediocre, empty shell of a game and it always be.

How is Cyberpunk2077 not here? That's the most egregious example of a comeback.
Pretty obvious that's why I guess.
Imo because it has always been in these videos so ppl knows already
Same with no man's sky? Maybe cause they have covered both of those games as comebacks already? Idk both seem obvious.
But it can't be truly fixed without a major overhaul of the main quest line. The pacing in particular sucks and it's missing the awesome set pieces that CDPR demonstrated they are capable of making when they finally released the DLC. It's as if they cut out random chunks of it and hastily tied together what's left. There's even a major questline that starts after the point where you're supposed to enter the point of no return. The latter isn't even in a task that can be delayed in a narratively justifiable way since it should be a quick and risk-free event.
The fact that people gave cdpr another chance after releasing broken games two straight releases is wack.
I was afraid the whole video that cyberpunk or no mans sky would be #1 since they're always talked about and the obvious answer. But I was pleasantly surprised to see they were just mentioned at the end 😂 thank you, gameranx
This video reminded me that 343i still exists after shitting the bed with Halo 3 separate times but Tango and Arkane Austin got shut down.
My backlog cant take this anymore but Gameranx recommendations are always welcome

Dying light 2 should get an award for the degree of effort they put in . I didn’t like it at all in the beginning and now it’s one of my favorite games! I’m so glad I gave it another chance after I seen all the updating they were doing

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is great nowadays. Minimal HUD and Conquest Mode is the true experience.
The Darktide segment is a bit lacking.
They've also added a few new maps. A few new bosses.
They've redone the Penance system. Which has a ton of cosmetic rewards and titles behind it.
They've added a lot more than the video lets on. Makes me wonder if the last time gameranx looked at Darktide was back in October.

I wish they would make a warhammer 40k battlefield style game with all the races it would be epic
I legit like 76. But I feel like I benefited from waiting to try it and knowing what kind of game it was going to be. I can imagine folks jumping in from launch day with their exceptions for a mainline game being devastated when they played it.
As of today, its way bettee then fallout 4
@@tobiversaceI don't agree but youre entitled to your opinion. 76 is boring to me in comparison.
Most wanted a regular offline game.
@@brodriguez11000 I wanted fallout singleplayer co-op far cry or dead island style. where you could do everything by yourself or a couple buddies could jump in and play with.
I remember that the original announcement for Fallout 76 clearly mentioned that it was an experiment, but people still expected a proper Fallout experience, I only played it a little on my old man's account, but I've heard that in finally adding NPCs and such they also charged people extra for the experience, and even more if you want to use a private server so you don't have to deal with online jerkwads unless they're your mates.
Another game is Kingdom Come Deliverance which was plagued by bugs and glitches and some wierd gameplay decisions like only being able to save with saving potions. Now it is easily one of the best games ever made.
But you still need saving potions in the vanilla game. You need a mod to fix that
@@Seismo2077Yes, but it's no longer annoying since it saves every time you quit whether you have a potion or not

speaking as someone who loves KCD, almost nothing about it was ever fixed. people eventually just stopped complaining about Henry's lack of literacy or skill because they finally understood that it was intentional. the only thing ive noticed over the years was performance got better. IIRC, exit saves were either always there or added in one of the first updates.
@@quinnmarchese6313 KCD was honestly not even that buggy for me, i only had a few visual glitches but nothing game breaking and my first play through was like 30 hours lmao
Outriders is a really fun underrated coop shooter.
Maaaaan I absolutely loved Outriders. Fantastic story, good progression, the looter shooter esque skill tree and builds. All of it was really enjoyable. I just could never get anyone to play with me.
Props for going for the roads less traveled in this list instead of the usual games everyone talks about. Like the ones mentioned at the end, Cyberpunk and NMS.
Stuck with Cyberpunk since day 1. Was pleasing to see new stuff as i played.
sad to say i actually put so much time into it before the updates. i played a bit of 2.0, got started with Phantom Liberty and completely fell off. love the new gameplay stuff though, they finally made doing anything fun.
I was not expecting Outriders, maybe it's time to give him another go.
I quite enjoyed Breakpoint when I played it for the first time a few months ago, never played it at launch but the fixes seem good from what I've heard and read of the state of it at launch. I want to go through Wildlands too at some point.
I've had a blast playing Fallout 76! I tried it when it was released and was incredibly disappointed, but these past few weeks have had me and some friends all playing almost daily. Quite the turnaround.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint is an absolutely beautiful looking game, the open world is impressive, and the combat is relatively fun. However, it's just so life-less or soul-less. The Division games are so much more captivating.
Correction with dying light 2. It was completely broken at release, and I was playing on console. I couldn't even finish completing the game it was so broken. It pissed me off how much of my time it wasted that I never went back to the game and never will...
Is it just me or is the cover animation in outriders the exact same as gears of war?
cyberpunk 2077 and no man's sky was the best example of redemption and i am glad they are!
2:04 Is it though? I'm not sure they've changed the parkour at all since launch and they made a lot of the new zombies just 1 shot machines. It also has had a lot of unsolved glitches, some being game breaking.
They have, they made it more “physical” idk how else to describe it, basically your character has more weight when he jumps and momentum plays a bigger role. Also some moves were given new animations (like the far jump skill)
Thank you to all the beta testers who paid full price so that I can play the best version on a sale
2:05 Actual jumpscare, I don't know what I was expecting
I installed Cyberpunk 2077 back when it launched and its still on my computer today. I am beyond happy with how it turned out. One of my favorite games ever now.
What list is this? The Outer Worlds, that special edition, is somehow worse than the original, but "it's playable now"? How? How can you put it on a list of "FIXED" (because you like to use all caps) games, when you literally said it's worse than the original? I cannot understand that.
9:27 I'm in love with this NPC! Great character!🥰
I was fully expecting those two to be top two but it's glad to know there are other games out there with the same redemption arc

For Imperator: Rome, it's criminal that you mentioned that it's been improved by mods but didn't cite *the* mod that has improved the game the most - Imperator: Invictus. The Invictus team has been praised by the I:R team and lead designer as being what they wanted to do if they were to continue supporting the game. They even included a bunch of the fixes that the team made to the game in the recent patch.
I just wanna say that I love gameranx videos
Baldo has been fixed as well. It's fun to play now. The story's ending is still a slap in the face, though.
Thano you for the tips.
You know what I like? Games that launch in good shape.
I'm really curious to see if Skylines 2 will end up in one of these lists ^_^
18:49 idk why but him killing himself in that last clip made me laugh so hard
I remember Far Cry 6 had a few issues when I first played it in 2023, but to my surprise, it had a 73GB update (the original game is only 35GB). I don’t what that update was fixing, but they should’ve just waited to release it when it was ready.
Sounds like they just shadow replaced the game....
a 73 gb update sounds like its upscaled textures and such, probably the same update that PS5 and Xbox X users have to do
I do believe we, as gamers, have to talk more about how games become after launch.. we still pre-order(for those who dare) games and expect them to be amazing.. if its not, we love to pull them down to the ground. Jet we never look back and see what it has become over time.. good job on this list🤘🏾
I got tears of the kingdom at launch and it was amazing but most games are hit or miss nowadays.
I played dying light 2 a few months ago on ps5. Me and my friend were sending clips and screenshots back and forth of all the bugs we have encounterd. I have come across several quest bugs that made me reset the quest or close app. The audio glitches were the best.
I played it earlier in its release and got stuck because the floor didn’t have any collision and after a few updates that was fixed but some other things were messed up after that.
I absolutely love Ghost Recon, especially GR Wildlands. I couldn't get into playing GR Breakpoint. Why, they messed with the formula from GR Wildlands to
GR Breakpoint, I simply don't understand. They should have just expanded on the Wildlands template.
You should do a review of these updated games.
👍
Played Breakpoint when it was on trial- loved it. Went and got a cheap second hand version. Had no idea it had such a terrible start but it's good now!
I never thought there'd be the day Imperator Rome would people say "it wasn't so bad", a game I loved even I thought the mana system (it even got removed) was rough, and it needed a lot of quality of life updates.
I played The Outer Worlds not long after launch, and absolutely loved it - and while I’m here, a great musical score too. Wasn’t sure it needed a remaster, as I found it looked great and played smoothly, but was probably going to try Spacers Choice Edition at some point. Ooof. Glad I held off.
Thanks to this video I’m reinstalling dying light 2 to check out the guns and I purchased the spacers choice upgrade on Xbox for outer worlds. Good video 🤘
You stuck some Vermintide cutscenes in the Darktide part lmaoooooo
I've had a blast replaying dying light 2 with friends this year, really underrated game the combat and parkour are just top notch fun
you never mentioned the best thing about BF2042, they finally added scoreboard 😂
They had one at launch that showed the top squads and not the top players. But everyone conveniently omits that detail
The best thing with the Ghost Recon Breakpoint upgrades, is that they were all optional. Smart move, because there were people who preferred to play it as Breakpoint instead of Wildlands. New controls etc. were also optional. UBI made sure they pleased both groups of players.
UBI even added new difficulty options, so even casuals could play it basically in God Mode. Other developers would have removed the old system and replaced. Kudos to UBI for making it all optional. There is long lists of settings in this game...
Don't forget that in Dying Light 2 they also improved the gore system quite a bit and while it's not on the same level as Dead Island 2 it's still way better than what it was before.
Worth mentioning Icarus. That’s a whole different game now with weekly updates since launch
Breakpoint was dope. I put a lot of hours into it and had a blast.
Same. I have almost 500 hours and I still find myself going back
nothing beats getting some friends together and doing some perfectly coordinated sync shots. i just wish it were more fun as a singleplayer
LOVED Outriders! Played the demo before launch and bought the game day 1. Finally played through it all the way with my fiance last summer. We had a blast!
This makes me really happy about being a generation behind. By the time I around to playing it it's been fixed.
TOW: Spacer's Choice got rid of the level cap on players and weapons. The biggest issue was the fact that you couldn't transfer a save from the original game so you could pick up where you left off, and that made things kinda suck for those of us who had pretty much 100%ed the original game. Redoing those achievements was a turn off.
I always get a chuckle at the gameplay snippets. NOT top notch gameplay to say the least. I know, I know, that's not what its all about but something that stands out to me almost every time. LOL, thank you for the amazing content over the years though! Great channel.
Dauntless is getting a massive update that will change the whole core of the game...so it might be on a list like this when it launch.
The punching bag of everybody, including those who didn't play it, and rightfully so
Pillars of eternity 2.. adding turned based made it so much better.
Family Guy Sean Connery: it's too late, the damage is done
14:30 well that statement hits different with whats happening with The Crew.
finally got into F76 after refusing to play it. I've been loving it. when 4 came out i was playing through it when my oldest kid was born and now hes running around appalachia with me and his younger brother. i paid my younger boy 500 caps for some steel he had. he was so excited.😁
Remember back in day when games were actually finished when they got released?
