I played 7 Wonders Duel a lot before I played the original 7 Wonders for the first time and boy, trying the same strategies doesn't work at all. That was quite a surprise to me, given how much the games have in common.
My strategy tip: If I'm losing on the second to last turn, of any game. Put my cat on my lap and just "accidently" drop him on the board. We call the game with no winner. I didn't lose again. I have a perfect record. No losses!
Great first game. I rarely win at 7 Wonders ( I actually don't recall ever winning). In all those loses I've picked up on some of your suggested strategies, now I just need to put it all together for the win!
Another tip: Hate-drafting is more effective at lower player counts. Bonus tip: You are playing against everyone, even though your neighbors are the ones you interact with most directly. Don't forget about what's going on at the other end of the table.
Cheetah dust is some of the most expensive dust around. I mean, you gotta catch the cheetah...You need a fast car for that. Then you have to freeze the cheetah, going to Canada can be expensive. Then you gotta grind the cheetah into dust and those cheetah dusters cost a pretty penny not to mention the bribes to avoid animal cruelty...You should never waste that on cards. Better to put cheetah dust on your cereals.
I’ve been foiled again, promising my clients a win rate of 35%. Luckily I have a fool-proof strategy to get it to 90%, but it’ll be kept secret until Las Vegas.
My biggest strategy tip is don’t play with people who are better than you if you really want to win (and my corollary: if you don’t need to win, there are more people you can play with)! In all seriousness I do notice that players are all over the place on the casual-competitive spectrum and even though I play mostly medium games I am slightly more on the casual end. As such I love the idea of a funny tongue-in-cheek strategy series like this video!! Other people may be looking for advice, but I’m here for the laughs!
I don't know if the intent was to make every option sound like the best option, but I found that very funny. Makes you wonder, "why am i losing if im always picking the best ?" 🙃

41% is actually really good considering most games are three to five players. An average board gamer will only win 25% of the time. This ain't no nintendo!
Well if she plays a lot of solo games, she can really up that average. I wish there was an app that would tell you your win averages by player count. Or is there one?
The last part is the best (cruelest) strategy if you don't own the game and you want the owner to tilt real hard.

7 Wonders never clicked with me. It always felt like a bunch of people sitting at the same table but all playing solitaire games

@@joegraham2262 In my experience, solos and co-ops do not up the average- but I like to challenge myself in those modalities.
