Love how the raven is it’s own strategy. It truly is that crazy. After over 50 plays in our house we had to nerf it because it became an almost automatic win for the player who got it. Especially early.
Thanks for the tips Paula! I usually sit on an egg... I feel it increases my winning % and also makes my game more exiting, it keeps me on the edge of my chair the whole time!
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. Always be willing to let your friends take the mediocre cards so you can focus on getting the good ones.
I've been playing Wingspan on BGA (boardgame arena) and it is a fantastic game. Easy to learn, challenging to master, especially with some really excellent opponents out there!
Great tips! Having only played once but getting a good grasp, they all sound pretty solid. I would say, if there was one tip I'd add, it would be keeping the round objectives in mind. Whether to go for or deny them to your opponents, those extra points really made a difference in my game
Loved this video! I feel like the real strategy tip is the one you didn't talk about, but instead showed. If you just slowly become more and more bird-like over the course of the game, you will probably win because your opponents will be so distracted by your ever-evolving personality that they will be unable to concentrate and will thus play poorly as a result. By the final round when someone tells you it is your turn, you'll just caw at them and they'll be so confused that when their turn comes around, they won't know to do. They'll get flustered and inevitably make a mistake. 🤣
I almost stopped watching because I didn't want to see Paula turn into a bird, but then I was like, who wouldn't want to see Paula turn into a bird!?! Glorious! I've caught on to the play cheep! birds first and won many games with that strategy.
Good tips. I'll have to remember some of those. One thing that I do during the game is ignore the round one goal. Unless it happens. I focus on the next round goal as much as I can, then for the last round I just get as many eggs as I can. My win rate? Excellent. Unless I am playing my wife. She is a bird whisperer. Is she needs a certain card, she will get it even if picking blindly. When we play her, we all know to just go for second and that is a win to us.
My biggest gripe about the game is that the 4th (final) round it's almost always best to just take eggs unless you have a really good engine going on some of the other habitats (which is almost always depending on the luck of the draw of cards). I wish either eggs was less influential (maybe 1 p for every 2 eggs?) or that the bonus cards gave more points, which would make more interesting decisions on the last turns if you should chase a bonus goal or just take the eggs.
You crack me up. But thank you. I lose 60% of the time I play games as well. And I lose Wingspan over 80% of the time. My wife seems to have it nailed. Now I have some secret weapons. Peep peep.
Some great tips! Always love to see Wingspan being featured on the bigger board gaming channels 🔥 Your commitment to thinking like a bird is incredible! I’ve never gone as far as make up or a costume in my own videos, so maybe that’s something I’ll have to look at doing in future 👀
@@PaulaDeming bam! I thought so. I’ve never seen a bird chew it’s seeds. However you must have been channeling one as your tips turned out useful in our last game. Thanks and hugs!
What have you done with Paula? I saw you changing, your a Shape Shifter. Ha! Ha! Very Good Video. For me I have found the best way to play is to cheat. Still don't win but at least I last longer.
Your bird transmogrification is priceless! So Adorkable!

yeah, I've seen other people say they've houseruled that those cards just aren't in the deck at all. Crazy!
I’m among the people that took them out of the deck. Just way too powerful.
AAAARGH, I'm getting flashbacks to a childhood viewing of that Sinbad film when the witch becomes half-seagull, freaked me out for weeks.
Paula, you are so delightfully weird. I love it! Also, this is an all-time favorite game for me. Perfect combo.
hehe thank you Erik!
That makeup job is truly amazing. Replicating the entire board on your face is hardcore.
Paula's commitment to the bit is unmatched.
When Paula goes out, collects material, and builds her own nest you know she's become an egret - er, I mean expert.
You mean eggspert?
Thanks, Paula. These tips will help me Wingspan more, and Losegspan less!
oh very good puns
I came here to learn and I get punishment? Curse you, Jon Tripp.
Thanks for the tips Paula! I usually sit on an egg... I feel it increases my winning % and also makes my game more exiting, it keeps me on the edge of my chair the whole time!
I love how you create your videos with humor. It's always funny and instructive to watch! Thank you Paula!
aw thank you!!

You outdo yourself every time i think i know what to expect 😂 I appreciate you so much Paula!
Oooh, making a series about game strategies is a really good... strategy. Very clever Paula!
41% is actually a massive flex under the assumption average player count is 4. Paula's crushing it ;p
Don’t ever change. Great strategy tips and an enjoy to watch.
41% win rate is actually pretty good depending on the average number of players in the games you play.
excellent tips! thanks for putting this together, I'm excited to see more from this strategy series on games. :)

OMG OMG OMG … Paula! This video is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!
Great video! Hope to see more "Get better at" Dicey Strategy videos
Thanks for this video, Paula! My friends cream me at Wingspan all the time. Hopefully these tips will give me an edge!
Let us know how your next game goes!

This video was great! Looking forward to seeing more like it.
I was hatching a scheme to say that this video was for the birds, but that's just cracked and I don't think it would fly
Those were actually very good insights. Nicely done!
Wow, I thought the nest was impressive and then I watched the video. This is amazing!
Absolute dedication to a craft!

Amazing combo of humor and strategy tips! Thank you 😂

Does the Oceania expansion reduced egg yield reduce eggspam?
You are so funny. You had me cackling with that outfit reveal
That is an impressive nest!
Thanks for giving us the bird.... winning tricks to master this game.
Eggcelent video!
Tip #5: Peck at your opponents until they run away, then take their birds.
very good tip!
Ducks fly together!
quack, quack, quack, quack
Cheeto fingers to the distraction!
You have crazy eyes and I love it.
My poor kitty was looking for birds through this whole video
Bird mutation is definitely not an option I have considered before. What have I been doing this whole time.....?
Not going to lie . . . I'm kind of terrified! 😮
this is a common reaction. you're not alone.
Very funny! 😂

Paula wants a cracker! Squawk!🦜
You should do a video on how to get better at Final Girl! I absolutely suck at the game 😂
Some great tips! Always love to see Wingspan being featured on the bigger board gaming channels 🔥
Your commitment to thinking like a bird is incredible! I’ve never gone as far as make up or a costume in my own videos, so maybe that’s something I’ll have to look at doing in future 👀
if you wanna win, you gotta commit ;) I also find dressing up is a great distraction for opponents.
2:02 Nice makeup. 2:56 Scary.
If on average you play with 3+ people then a 41% win rate is great!
We don’t even play with either of the ravens, Franklin’s Gull, or Killdeer. They’re too broken in the base game
Buon appetito Paula!!!
Ah yes the strategy of "just draw the good cards"
Zoobilee Zoo flashbacks!
41% is pretty great. Unless you play only 2p or co-op games.
41% would be great. I am probably closer to like 18% win rate.
You winged this didn't you
Since a real bird does not eat by pouring seeds down their gullet (they’d probably choke) I’m wondering what you actually were consuming. 😄
it was definitely seeds and not granola. DEFINITELY seeds.
@@PaulaDeming bam! I thought so. I’ve never seen a bird chew it’s seeds. However you must have been channeling one as your tips turned out useful in our last game. Thanks and hugs!

Paula morphing into a bird is....disturbing
I thought it was a joke, but then she start saying things with sense...
Paula, I don't want to embarrass you, but you've got something on your face in the video. Don't worry, though; it's hardly noticeable.
Jealous of the progressive cosplay in this video.
Mediocre tips. Not mentioning the two strongest birds in the game while talking about winnning strategies...
Bird Paula hits different.
