I'm angry with those people who say that Yeonmi is spreading misinformation and exaggerates things in her stories, but I think I can understand that. To accept that all of this is true means to accept that this horrific reality is what we all are living in right now, it is to realize that we - humanity as a whole - allowed it to happen, that we are all responsible for it, and the same time to realize that we are powerless to stop it. It's a terrifying thing to accept, and some people are just not willing to, it's much safer for their psyche to look away, to close their eyes and say "No, it can't be real. It must've happened a long time ago when I wasn't alive". Because to be alive in a world where this happens means it could've happened to you if you were born in the wrong place. I understand. But we can't close our eyes. We must spread this information, we must do whatever is in our power to help. To stop it.

I agree with you ann s. The sad thing is the same Marxist tactics that were used to usher that regime to power are used here in the USA by people in our government who have given themselves over to their lists and greed for wealth, power and control But God has had enough of their unrelenting blasphemy, arrogance, and mockery. He is raising people up to wake them up and warn them of what is in store for them before it’s too late for them to turn to Him in repentance. God made the way for Yeonme’s escape and has raised her up for this time to expose the evil that has going on for years as He is doing here in America. When this happens justice and judgement soon follows
as is seen in biblical history.

This made me cry like a baby, I couldn't even stop it. I'm a single mom to an 11-year old girl. I had her watch this video too. I just can't imagine. You deserve a Nobel Peace Prize Yeonmi, and I hope you get one someday. I'm ashamed I haven't done more, in the US we never hear any of this. I definitely never saw any videos like that. You may not think you're doing much but you have no idea. You are so special. Your voice is the only one I hear speaking about your country, but it is powerful. Almost everything I know about life in North Korea I have learned from following you. Even if it seems like no one cares, the way you present things makes it all clear, you are a true freedom fighter. You have a gift and I hope you never stop using it or let yourself feel defeated. You aren't just one voice, even if you feel alone. You are speaking up for those who can't in your videos, and this is more powerful than 100 protests. The people can't help if they don't even know or understand what's happening. Kim Jong Un and his father made sure no one could hear their voices, but he couldn't stop you. You have my utmost respect. Just keep doing what you're doing and one day you will turn around and see the impact you have had in waking people up, people who would never have known about these atrocities. You could have run and hid for the rest of your life, and no one would have blamed you, but you didn't, you fight for them. Just keep speaking up. The tides will turn eventually, people love and respect you, look at the comments in your videos. You are a human rights LEADER, not just activist. Your voice is more powerful than you think! Just, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your bravery and your commitment to truth, justice, and freedom, it benefits us all. The world needs many more like you.

Dearest Yeonmi, There are no words for describing a young woman like you. You have my admiration, & I applaud your courage to be a VOICE FOR THE VOICELESS of your country. Thank you for telling us their heartbreaking stories. There was SO much I did NOT know until I discovered your channel. I live in the U.S., & I’m ashamed to say I do not understand the finer points of WHY my government is doing NOTHING, that I know of, to STOP this INHUMANITY & INJUSTICE, this MURDER. It reminds me of Nazi Germany, perhaps EVEN worse! We did NOTHING for SO long back in WWII. MANY were MURDERED BEFORE we took a stand. It seems the SAME is happening, & history is repeating itself. I want to know WHY we are doing NOTHING? As a WORLD COMMUNITY, the STRONGER COUNTRIES have a DUTY to PROTECT the innocent. That is NOT occurring. I will do my best to find an answer, & to ask my representatives in Congress to HELP! This is UNACCEPTABLE. Meanwhile, PLEASE continue to tell us of these CRIMES AGAINST OUR FELLOW HUMANS. You have such BRAVERY! Well done! May you one day be recognized for your actions. You deserve recognition.
All my very best to you,
    Belle 🦋

I wished not to see content like it anymore. This is due to the fact that even if you say you don't want to see a video/channel, youtube will still frequently suggest you the same stuff and I simply did not wish to see stuff like it in my feed. Giving it a view and dislike gives it traction, rather than dragging the video down, while still keeping the content out of your feed. You could start a gofund me, and find other NK people to help you bring the reality of NK center stage. More people need to see what's happening, but more importantly, they need to care that it's happening. A movie might do that. Plus, if anybody in NK were to ever watch this movie, they would know the outside world cares about them and are thinking of them, hoping for something better.

I think that's a wonderful idea. But it's a very lofty one how would she be able to come up with the funds to make a movie possible. And what Hollywood director or movie studio would be willing to portray a movie like that. People don't want to go to a movie to see other people suffer we are just selfish like that in our nature we don't want to see it if we don't see it it's not happening. Maybe a documentary would be easier but you'd have to get somebody like Netflix to be willing to show it and I don't know how difficult that would be but maybe you could do some investigation and find out how she would be able to get some of these things done I think your idea is superb. I know Lisa Ling and her sister the one that was kidnapped and held in North Korea for a while they were trying to make a documentary about North Korea and what the people are going through and she ended up getting kidnapped having to escape from the soldiers chasing them down and she happened to get caught and another one of the crew got caught. So there's a lot of issues that had to be faced in order to be able to make an accurate documentary or movie.

This is so sad and freaking horrific. I thank you for being raw and real, because as much as people say, "be grateful, blah blah blah", a year ago, I had no idea about ANY of this. People need to be educated, and just being educated isn't enough. We need action. This has gone on too long. We need North Korean people-and all people to have justice and be free. Whatever you need from us, I will be attentive and listen.

The moment I fully processed what the daughter was experiencing, my heart truly sunk more than I have felt in a long time. I have seen many horrible things on the internet: a boy jumping off a bridge into water for fun doesn't jump far enough, and hit his head on the support of the bridge, and you can see him bleeding heavily in the water. Towards the end of the video is him groaning with his head literally split in two, inexplicably still alive, and yet, I was STILL more shocked by this video. All the fear she had building up to this moment, a lifelong of suffering and a slight hope for freedom in crossing that river. She knew the risks. Her mother did too. When crossing her mother is shot, and the reality of the situation probably crushed her like a 40 ton semi truck. Her mother is dead. She will never be free. She is either going to die, be tortured in a labor camp or god knows what else. It's all over.
At 9:13, the daugher turns to the guards. And she begins stomping. In that moment, she is probably the angriest and saddest she has ever been. The universe, God, whatever you want to call it that makes reality, has abandoned her.
We have just witnessed Hell fully manifested on Earth. I am so sorry for her. So painfully sorry.

I've seen a video of a Venezuelan prison. They made the prisoners each each other alive. It's really dark and dirty and looks like hell on earth. One of them rips the others ear off with his teeth and chews on it. Another one is forced to bite each and every finger off his own hands and swallow each one. THATS the worst video I've ever seen.

We’ll all die but this is one of the horrific and saddest way to die. They all panicked that make the situation got worst. I don’t even want to think that if the daugther got caught, Kim Jung Un will open wide his arms to welcome her to his torture chamber. @@tingting4980 I see no evidence that China is taking over Taiwan. Although their military is weak, they mostly do this so that if China invades the US will come to Taiwan's help. In terms of South China Sea claims the U.S. doesn't exactly respect them even under the Biden admin, and sends jets routinely over them and China can't do much about it. Also Biden can't do much as it relates to Hong Kong anyways, as their agreement is with Britain and not the U.S.
