Wake up America, get your head out of your apps.
It’s been happening around the world. Since the pandemic of covid 19, it has gotten worst and worst. I live in Australia, and I have seen this happening here. This is the best interview I have seen with her. She is an incredible inspiration. I had no idea Yeonmi Park lived in Chicago and I've been an IL resident my whole life, super cool! I also find it super cool that you interviewed her with the Regis hotel behind her (the tallest building in the world designed by a female architect)
It’s amazing that it takes someone who lived in utter oppression and terror to tell us how we are becoming more like those horrible nations.
I am truly inspired by this young lady. The wisdom that comes from her short life is inspiring. Her statement "Freedom needs discipline and responsibility like a virture" should be at the entrance of every school in America, if "Freedom" is to endure.
Everyone should see this and listen to what she has to say.
I'm 79 and had just about given up on the US. She gives me hope...
That was incredible. Her message on freedom and virtue rang deeply true, and loved listening to how beautifully she spoke on really complex topics.
This woman is absolutely incredible. I can’t believe how well-spoken she is for someone who learned English in her adulthood (her grammar is basically perfect - how is that even possible?!), and how insightful her views of the Western world are for someone who only recently arrived here from what may as well be another planet.
It makes you wonder just how much more untapped human potential is languishing away in North Korea. She is totally inspiring. Bravo, Yeonmi Park, and thank you Drew for arranging this interview.
This was amazing and it made me cry a lot... I absolutely loved the things you said about freedom and how it doesn't mean that you can just do whatever you want. I see that everywhere and in so many people who abuse the idea of freedom.

I watched several of her videos before watching this one, and from those, I figured out that she escaped North Korea. She has my respect. She has achieved more than most who live a comfortable life. Her command of English is very good, she studied in Columbia (as I understand it is one of the best universities). I feel so sorry she what she went through and it does not reflect in her personality, you can see her personality is strong. Although she came to the USA, she started to see the same problems (but different phases), what that means is that the issues are human issues and not related to a country or race. It is just pure human.
Columbia is trash
There is no room for hate speech but that's is very dangerous because who decides what is hate? It's a very true statement
No speech should be limited, even hate speech. That way, there’s no danger of a totalitarian government swooping in and using the law to restrict freedoms, AND we get to see who the hateful people are by their hateful speech.
