    Why on earth would you want to spend £100's on buying the likes of an SP404 sampler, when if you've already got a recent Ipad and this absolute POWERHOUSE, love your tutorial on this

      Facts. Sold my 404 because the workflow was way too chunky, koala saved me 500$ and so much headache.

      @@KeyDyerwell said. I’ve had two over time (don’t ask) and the WF really is the worst overall imo too. I have done cool things with it… but this was many MANY years ago… nowadays you can do similar things and more for ~free… with a decent / recent iPad Pro &or any 1/2 way decent laptop, etc.

    @ 53:00 Velocity fade out... Really need 16 Velocity levels in the app bad!!!! The editing of velocity in the grid, as it stands, is a feel and workflow issue... Coming from the MPC/SP hardware, 16 levels gets used alot on getting my Pete Rock horn echos, realistic Hi Hats and Shakers, Ghost Kicks, Vocal outs, ,etc... Been looking all over the app for this.. 16 levels, and Round Robin Drum pads are the 2 things that i really want in this app, and i should be golden!

    Great tutorial again, really appreciate you taking the time to do this series. In this video at around 38min you mention "the more you study other drum patterns". This grabbed my attention as I'm struggling to recreate drum patterns as a complete newbie. Based on your other videos, am I right in saying that I can import songs via the iOS screen recording method, split stems to isolate the drum track, then view the wave to get an idea of the pattern? Or is there another way to do this or study drum patterns online that is quicker?
    Thanks in advance for any replies

    Are the quality of files/samples compromised/compressed upon bouncing/saving? Usually that is the case with sampler apps. Your tutorials are SO straightforward. Great work!

    • @nervouscooks
      @nervouscooks  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you. I haven’t noticed any particular loss when bouncing or saving. I haven’t checked this scientifically though. I’m just going by ear. I’ve exported plenty of audio files to Ableton as well and I’ve never found any distortion or unwanted noise. 👍

  • @noodlingaround2023
    @noodlingaround2023 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you for this brilliant series. I've learnt so much with your help. But there is one thing I still can't do. In the Sample page, I can't seem to start a sample in the middle. In Ableton for example, I can place the start point in the middle of a sample so it loops back to that start point. I hope I've made myself understood. Many thanks.

    • @nervouscooks
      @nervouscooks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Richard, you should be able to start a sample anywhere really. Choose the pad you have your sample on, open up the edit window and make sure it’s on sample not EQ so you can see the waveform, then pull the start point over from the left side of the window. It’s not so obvious you can do that but just drag your finger from the beginning of the sample towards the right. You will see it’s lighter red where the loop is between the start and end points. Obviously you can do the same with you’re end point. Just turn on one shot and loop and it will loop between the two points continuously. Hope that helps. 👍

    I'm having some issues. I'm trying to make up drum pattern but I'm noticing when I tap the square in the process of making the pattern. It doubles up or glitches out am I doing something wrong

    • @nervouscooks

      That’s weird, I’ve never experienced that. What device are you using? iOS or android etc? Is it totally up to date? There is a Facebook group that the creator of the app is part of. It might be a good place to report a bug or get more help. 🙂

    Love your tutorials! do you have any tipps and tricks to make a glide bass with koala?

    • @nervouscooks
      @nervouscooks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you… I don’t use a lot of glide bass and I don’t think there’s an easy way to do it in Koala like you can in Ableton or FL…however let me take a look and I’ll see if I can work out a way. I’ll come back and leave an answer here shortly 🙂

    • @nervouscooks
      @nervouscooks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So unfortunately I can’t see a way to do it. I thought that maybe you could resample your baseline to a loop then use the vibroflange fx to bend the pitch but it doesn’t work like that. I also tried plugging in a midi controller with pitch bend but that doesn’t work either. I can’t think of a way to bend the pitch between notes but if anyone else reading this has a hack let us know! You could suggest it as an update feature via the Koala Facebook or Discord. Sorry I couldn’t help on this one.

      What about creating a long sample with the bass playing a single note, then using the Pitch perform effect to glide between notes? Need more notes? Duplicate the sample and repitch the copies.
