    Them doors are seriously heavy. So two people is best. Also one of our doors was very nearly touching the bottom frame, so top tip is to place some washers in the hinges to raise it up a tad, plus don't forget to grease the hinges for a smooth action.

    Very helpful video I will offer a tip if I may.
    When you have a normal summer house the walls are only thin so it’s not a problem when you need to repaint it as you can access almost every board at the top, sides and bottom.
    Log cabins are a different kettle of fish.
    The logs are thick and once it’s assembled you will never see the vast majority of the tongue and groove on your logs again.
    So, if you DIDN’T purchase protected timber, do yourself a favour and paint the top and bottom of each board along with the log joints before you assemble the cabin. Timber will expand and contract with the weather and if water gets between the boards and they are unprotected, you may not know until it’s too late.

    If you end up with a gap like in 9:30 it is likely that your foundation is not level or the logs have not been seated and some tapping of them might help. In this vid the apex end is too high. If you look at the diagonally opposite corner it's gap should be too low if the foundation was a bit out. You can plane off the apex side to be flush and check the diagonally opposite wall and if need be, cut a custom packing for it to bring it up flush.

    • @THE-AIDEN-PROJECT
      @THE-AIDEN-PROJECT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah this is solid. Time wise this is quicker. Only took me 3 days to get the cabin done. The cabin cost £3k though! As a comparison, my borehole shed came in around half that price but its twice the size. Mine is also insulated, although the cabin has 44mm thick walls and double glazed window and doors. I suppose its always cheaper to build your own solid shed but will take time. It's either one or the other hey, time or money! I'd definitely go for the epdm roof covering though 🤘

Would think i might want to add more pieces on top of the concrete to stop future sagging.

      Thanks 👍 you might get away with it but personally I would put down 18 or 22mm p5 t+g chipboard. You need to be careful with the walls as they're designed to expand and move so if you fix something to them and effectively strap a few planks together you might have issues. I suppose you could bolt some ply on to one plank near the top and hang shelving off the ply maybe? With enough fixings you'd be alright

    Hi, great video. I have the exact same issue you had at 10:30 with the side wall being slightly higher (10mm) than the back wall. Did you just have to hit the logs with s rubber mallet and piece of wood a few times, or was there something else? It is a little frustrating! 😁

      Hi, yes I literally hit the top of the side wall a few times and it all evened itself out. I just used the rubber mallet and didn't even use another piece of wood. I think it's almost like an accumalative error from either the ground being slightly off level or one of the wall planks being slightly warped. If you haven't put the roof on yet then give it a smash! Just to mention I think the reason why I had that little gap when putting the roof planks on was because the middle purlin had lifted ever so slightly when I screwed it in diagonally. About to order a 4x3m corner cabin from Dunster House. This is probably a dumb question from a total noob to building cabins, but it appears the cabin isn't secured to the base in any way? Hey, I didn't fix this one down as it was in a really sheltered area. I can't see us getting any hurricanes in London any time soon. You would have to make a judgement call on the basis of how exposed your cabin will be. I fixed my borehole shed to the base with framing screws but that's because there's open fields on 3 sides. You could easily secure one of these cabins with some L brackets bolted to the concrete (concrete screws would be easier) and screwed to either the bearers or the bottom of the outside wall 👍

      @@meylanchelios1009 @Meylan Chelios yeah that's a good idea to keep your base tight. I just watched that part and I could roughly work out how long your base needs to be... 3.36m 😁 the overhang looks to be about 80mm each side you see. I double checked on the manufacturers website and was right because they give the internal dimensions then you just need to add 2 wall thicknesses at 45mm each. The bearers look to be around 50mm high

    How much would it cost to have something of this size built for me?

      For the cabin and materials you'll be looking about £3.5k plus labour of anywhere between £600-£1000. If you needed a concrete base done as well it would be extra
