- Welcome back to our off-grid cabin build! We know you've been eagerly waiting for another update, and today, we're excited to show you our progress. Join us as we construct and stand the lower portions of our A-frame cabin.
We can't wait to continue on our build and take you along for the journey.
Thank you for supporting our channel!
Katie & Chris
I really appreciate how you explain what you're doing and why. You two work together like a well oiled machine! Great progress made!
WOW watching you two work together is a work of art.
I don’t know the background of the majority of your audience but as a contractor for 40 years I’m often asked about truss angle and how we figure it out. Thanks to technology measuring rise/run for slope ratios and Pitch then using a construction calculator saves brain cells for sure. No more homemade protractors and plumbers bobs. Could be a good tutorial for a short for your viewers?❤
“Are you fake sleeping?” Thump thump thump. And his head sticking out looking at you- great shots and great progress on the build. Thank you for sharing.
The long anticipate building of the cabin has come true. It's unbelievable that of what you two have accomplished in lifting the heavy wood. Very proud of you all. 😅😅😅😅
Amazing work
Great job. "Team work Makes the Dream work" Defiantly a marriage builder.
HUGE amount of progress for one video. Great job🎉
To you, sir and madam,
Congratulations on planning the assembly of the A Frame, now the way the foundation is assembled makes sense, I really liked the way you are carrying out the construction services and it helped me think in an unexpected way. I look forward to the continuation and completion of the construction of your home.
May God bless you and continue the good work both in construction and filming.
Isn’t life a better place when all the planning and hard work starts to become real. You’re always putting well thought out plans into actual results that follows the detailed master plan . Happy for you. Not sure what your future plans are but your home can expand to accommodate your needs going forward.
I appreciate that you explain what you are doing and why. Thank you for a great channel
Oh wow that looks so much bigger when you stood it up. Great job looks awesome
Looking "A" mazing! 🤣😂 Great job you two. 💯👍🍁
I am enjoying watching your home come together! Nice work.
Wow! You two are doing a great job
Looks so easy from our side. Fantastic to see you both working so well and fast together. See you next week! Thanks
Thanks for sharing another great video you two, oh let's not forget the supervisor of building & chief of security Nelly!!! Progress is a beautiful thing
Looks good. I would suggest adding another row of fire-block between the floor and what you have now. Interested in how your splice will be made for the rest of the skeleton framing. Be safe.
Framing your walls and ceiling at the same time. Pretty cool
That's really going to be so nice. I can't wait till the next video. Great job 👍
I'm so excited for you two! Thanks for filming. You've got some beautiful scenery there, and the fog is kinda enchanting.
I'd love to see some more of your goats, and how's your garden doing? Keep on keepin' on.
You are doing a great job. At least your not shy on the fasteners. As a carpenter of almost 50 yrs. I enjoy watching. Thanks Dan in Alberta , Canada.😂
Exciting times. I look forward to watching you build your A frame cabin. You work so well together. Great team. Thank you for sharing. Take care from Cape Cod Massachusetts ✌️🇺🇸
It looks so nice I’m so happy for the two of you it’s going to be beautiful. 💯
What I saw today was not only a very well thought out plan and execution. But a great marriage tool. Seemed to really minimize the complaining and arguing. Well done, kudos to you both!
Amen. I'm so happy for you many blessings, and keep safe, and thank you for sharing 🙏
I could clearly see the inner volume getting in wonderful shape. looking so nice!
I watched wild wonderful off grid do same maybe 5 - 7 years ago. You two are living an awesome life. So proud of you both
You two are the A-Team!!!
You two took on a lot of hard work and made it look easy, everything you did was to make the structure strong with the least amount of work, but even working as efficiently you did it was still hard work. You have my deep respect and may your strength and good health be with you always.
You guys are doing so well and it's so beautiful there. Be very proud of yourselves
I know it's hard work but I can only imagine the sense of pride and satisfaction you must feel seeing your HOME start taking shape, especially built by yourself.
Great work. Side 4 x 8 plywood makes great shear wall to super stabilize structure. I watch Simple Living Alaska and they are super hard workers. You are equal to them and the best of all Alaska homesteaders. I really enjoy your show. Grew up in upstate NEW YORK AND SPENT SUMMERS HELPING MY UNCLE in Pennsylvania on his farm but that was 65 years ago. Keep the great videos coming!
I am in awe of you Lady, I know that is heavy work for a lady and you must be exhausted by the end of the day. I know ladies are stronger than us men think and I have a lot of respect for you both as you build your future! .. Your new home is taking shape-looks GREAT Stay Safe!
I am not a builder but if this is not the way most ppl build an a frame it should be. Great job
Its going to be an amazing i love that youre going to have bedrooms, but so many people build tiny cabins and then regret its not big enough later so please make it a goodsize for a family, you both work great together xx
I'm not a home builder of any kind I've never seen this style before but for two people it's ingenious. 10 ft sealings and the loft I can't wait to see it done great job in the work and finding the design.
Wild wonderful off grid channel built an A frame, its beautiful
Screaming out for Milwaukie sponsorship. Personally not a fan of their tools but this video deserves it. Best wishes.
Man its always exciting seeing the frame go up. All those weeks/months of work to just get a foundation and floor up and then in just a day or 2 Poof you can really start seeing your house! Looking great and thanks for sharing!
Great video !
I really like the way you are building - enjoying it
Hard work from a great team! We build so much unused home
Today. I just love how well thought out you two are. Live YOUR dream because you work HARD.
My back hurts just watching your progress…. Way to go….. really taking shape!
I don’t know anything about building, but it seems like y’all have a great plans. Keep doing what you’re doing and really enjoying your videos.
That is one of the best constructed cabins I have seen
It's awesome seeing all of this move forward. Thanks for bringing us all along!
Wow, it looks fabulous! You guys are kicking butt now. I hope you get it dried in quickly. You both seem to work well together. Thanks for sharing this adventure with us.
WoW I watch a lot of TH-cam and this is the best setup so far!!! YouTWO are great, be safe have fun!
Impressive on how quickly the lower part went up. Thanks for all the explanations of why you are doing what you have done. So many questions but I know they will be answered as the build goes on! Stay safe until next time.
Very good work! Completely impressed...design, construction, work ethic, can't say enough. Your Lab is a crack up, I'm sure he's thinking this is his "dog house" .
Fantastic.
Great planning gets you great execution.
I got a kick out of the "puppy" when he was awakened by the strap when you cut it off of the load of lumber. It is fun watching you build this cabin and I am waiting on the edge of my seat to watch the top half go up.
Take care, Be safe, Have some fun,
jack
You work so well together!
Now that’s teamwork well done looking great . All the best from outback Western Australia
my folks and i have always built our own home so i know what you are going through. it is a lot of work but well worth it in the end. the no.1 advantage is you don't have 30yrs of debt to pay off if you had a contractor do it for you! good luck with the mosquitos!
I have serious Milwaukee envy watching you. Damn.
Well done!!
Dam I always knew you two had a lot of grit. However this was truly a lot of work. You two had to have been sore building everything by yourselves. No complaining just working for the goal. Very impressive job. Just shows what you can do if you want something bad enough. Great video thank you for sharing your lives with us ❤.
I watched my grandfather from Denmark they make everything strong he would approve (not that you need it). By the way really nice job I like your videos.
AWESOME!!!! You guys are so good! I bet you found muscles you didn't know you had! And fell in bed exhausted each night. I am beyond impressed with how well you work so well together. That last bit was ALOT scary. I had shaky legs :) I absolutely LOVE your supervisor!!! ( Although he was sleeping on the job a bit at the end :) ) SO CUTE!!! Your home is going to be well made and very cool!!!
fantastic, planning and implementation, great work ethick,no all you need is to dig ponds swales etc, permaculture,re generative agriculture, well done❤❤❤❤❤
Great to watch you two working together, you are doing an excellent job, it’s looking great so far. Thanks for sharing.
Good morning guys and your A-frame is looking great so far and I really like how your doing the two section build. And once you guys but down the sub floor it is going to make it a lot easier to finish the rest of the top of the A-frame. . Can not wait to see the next video.
This build is an inspiration. Thanks for sharing the process. 10’ ceilings!!
Three days of hard work! But you did achieve your first goal - getting all the "base" A's made and set up. Chris has the easier job - us normal people - 5 ft, an 5 ft. 3 - wil just need to stretch and stand on our tippy toes! Keep up the good works. I watch quite a few "homesteading videos". Four or five in Alaska, three in Canada and a half dozen or more in the states. to write a comment on each time I watch a video is too much for a two finger 84 year old grandfather! I love the area where you are building and wish you much success! You are thinking things through (mental exercise! and complement that with steady physical labour!!
I am sure this is not always the case, but you two work really well together. When I was stationed in Alaska the brightness in the middle of the night always played hell with me LOL. I forget about it a bit until you mentioned what time you called quits. Looks great so far.
That really looks good - A lot of planning - Smart...! Thanks for sharing - Stay safe... Loved seeing the lab....
Hello! So glad as you must be that you have started on your home. My home is a 30 X 30, 4 bedroom, 1 1/2 bathroom home in a small village in upstate NY. It is big enough that my three children had their own room and we were quite comfortable. Life changes as the kid grow older and leave for the start of their own life. Now the rooms are a sewing/quilting room and an office. That's plenty of room for the grandkids and dogs. I am unsure if I like an A-Frame but your frame seems to have plenty of space and storage. I saw a Canadian A-Frame you-tube video that was just as large as yours. The couple who are building it have added 2 large dormers on each side of the main frame. One is the entrance which has a large closet on the second floor. The other, I believe holds the downstairs bathroom. The dormers make up for the loss of space in the walls. So many designs for A-Frame I am learning about. Sending my hopes for a successful build.
It was very quick to install. You are one step closer to the finish. You have great skills. From Turkey with love.❤️❤️
Excellent Construction Method

Nice templates, Chris. Templates are so effective for speed and consistency. Nice progress and nice job. Love the preciseness.
Great Job you two! You did your framing alot like we did for my 16 x 32 ft greenhouse, and it survived the earthquake of 2018.
Looking forward to the rest of the build.
Your 2 flew threw that !! Sweet job !! Going to be a gorgeous cabin.. the old one you can make into a barn and storage
Great teamwork. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the A-frames going up.
