- :Exploring Abandoned Anything can be dangerous or Deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any Abandoned structure. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal and when possible, i seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks & responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. Their could be nails, Asbestos, Falling concrete soft floors, animals or other hazards. I won't mention the location, but I have been there. I spent a rainy night there in 2005. It was over priced, very dated( the TV was straight out of 1985), and there was broken glass on the bathroom floor. But at the same time it was warm, dry, and had a certain retro/nostalgic charm( like a time capsule from the 70s/80s) that makes me glad I stayed there. All the other people staying appeared to be long term residents who had made questionable life choices. The lady who owned it was very nice though and it really is a great location. It is a relic in a sadly depressed area. Really glad to see you explore this place. By coincidence I'll be heading up tomorrow to stay right near there for a couple weeks. Stay safe Buddy! Edit after watching more than 30 seconds of the video: I had a nice chat with the lady who owned the joint when I stayed there. She told me the big space on the left used to be a full service restaurant back in the day with innkeepers quarters upstairs and that she wanted to turn the place into a geothermal powered spa involving yurts, but she was struggling to makes ends meet. I guess the spa didn't pan out. It is a great piece of history and should be restored. Unfortunately it will probably be razed and condos put on the property. I'm glad to see it has held up so well, maybe being in the middle of the town that time forgot has been a good thing.

what happened to the ownership? does she still own it or is it owned by the bank?
@@waynevetrone ... what usually happens to places like this is after a failure (or the owner dies) nobody pays the taxes and the town / city puts a lien on the property. Now they are stuck with it and it just sits for decades because the paperwork is complicated and there's usually not a market for it in a depressed economy. They usually don't have the resources to do anything except a tax auction, and quite often nobody shows up to bid so they wait another few years. There are many situations like this in the Poconos (Pa) and Catskills (NY) that are just waiting to fall down.

It's a primal thrill seeking thing - getting to unleash the inner destructive tendencies without serious repercussions is exciting and, for some, cathartic.
I do agree that it's still tragic and sad that they have to do it to places like this, though. It's one of those things where the motivation is understandable but still reprehensible at the same time.

Fck them, seriously, trying to find reasons for them and finding them "understandable" is morally corrupt, I have to say it...
Humans have destructive and constructive tendencies in spades. It's just that being destructive is so much easier than being constructive.
@@-Batman- Human nature is often contrary to morality. Morality is a taught behavior, not a default state; if it weren't, we wouldn't need laws and punishments to corral the tendencies of human nature, nor would we need to teach our children right from wrong.
One major aspect of human nature is the desire to destroy things. Whether it's morally right or wrong is subjective to the societal values of the time, and even then it can depend on the context. Destroying a historical house to build a newer one that takes advantage of modern materials and construction techniques that make it safer is seen as morally wrong by historians but morally right by safety inspectors. We can agree that vandalism is morally wrong from our perspective, but in an environment where defacing an abandoned building is considered a rite of passage, it can be seen as morally right.

Burger King keeps their walk in freezer at minus 23 degrees. If you're not working hard and wearing gloves and a jacket it's painful almost immediately.
@@jwaterous224 - That's insane, and probably a lot more expensive to run than a normal temperature. I've hauled frozen meat in semis, and our contracts for that usually specified that it had to be kept below +35 or +40 degrees. Minus 23 sounds like some accountant deciding that if cold is good, colder is better.

Your dying plants are suffering from a lack of asphalt. Crumble some up and mix it with the potting soil.

What was once most likely a prime motel has some beauty left. I see potential to be transformed back to a motel or apartments. I'm shocked most of the windows still intact. At age 56, that was playground equipment we had as children. Things were made to last. Nice find. Always appreciate your content. Ron, Connecticut
Yeah I am soon to be 66(Sept 29th) & I remember playground equipment like this. Oh yeah we had monkey bars too, in Atlanta & Clayton County, Georgia.
Many older motels have turned into emergency housing for the homeless.
Or founding a Coummity to live their.... giving potery and Yoga classes
"If you know the location don't post in comments" that is what I like about your video you have respect a lot of other so called urban exploration channels can learn form you.
One local so called youtuber broke in to a local house few months after owner died told the world the location, others followed showing location, then came the vandals smashing up more and spray painting every room, thefts and finally the arsonists. Property no more.

Seeing that children’s playground, and thinking back to my own childhood brought a raindrop to the lens; not gonna lie.
It's amazing how large the compound is out in the middle of what looks like nowhere that used to be somewhere.

@@Mike-tv9rk on the way to somewhere is not the same as somewhere. Many abandoned roadside motels are off a highway, but aren't nearly as grand. The trees breaking the pavement and elements rotting the structures makes for an impressive transformation.
@@Mike-tv9rk after reading more comments I see it's in the middle of town. Fascinatingly huge, but not a town like my town. It would be constantly occupied in every room.

Great tour! I like the comments others have made about using this to house homeless vets. I wish we looked at these places as potential rather than eyesore to tear down and stuff in a landfill.
Those TVs are becoming valuable for restoration of 1980s arcade video games.
It's getting harder and harder to find CRTs and some of them are now worth $$$$$ if they don't have burned phosphor.
I was going to say, as soon as he saw that pile I heard shang066's ghostly voice in the background saying "gamers's choiiiiiiice." But for reals, if they've been out in the Connecticut weather for a couple years they're probably toast. The weather's not going to be as forgiving to the tube terminals etc. as that shop in Texas where folks pulled a bunch of survivors out of an outdoor pile. Now, a pile of C64s on the other hand, that would fuel about 1,000 hours of youtube resto videos.

It’s amazing how long things can last when made by companies with integrity as opposed to things today that are purposefully engineered to fall apart.

That's what I hate about seeing places like this. Sadly due to fire regulations it can't be used for accommodation anymore. No firewalls between the units.
@@2DogsVlogs interesting i wonder if certain structures could be grandfathered in, for instance if it is fixed up as "maintenance" and not "rebuild" Edit: that being said i do think this place is too far gone to be economically feasible as a remodel.
This feels a lot like exploring in post-apocalyptic games. Kind of like the Last of us, only when Post 10 tries a door that doesn’t open he doesn’t pull a shiv out… and there’s no clickers.

And with all the homeless people. This is heartbreaking. Fix it and rent it low cost transitional housing. No drugs. Just people who need an address and re enter the working class. Someday to move out.
There are places everywhere for the homeless. The problem is many of the homeless don’t want to be in a shelter. They don’t want to follow the rules of living with other people in a shelter.
@@SpiritDonkey really? I've been pushed from here to there and ending up in chaos. The stay is limited. The integration of rehab/homeless means you live with actively practicing addicts. Stealing is common. Being treated like dirt by the people who run them. Going through your stuff. It's just humiliation in these homeless shelters. Privacy doesn't exist. This is much more calm and private. There aren't plenty of homeless shelters. They are few and far between. I dont know where you live but here in the heartland there ain't much.

@@Totalinternalreflection Spirit Donkey is actually and sadly right in many cases. Not all of course, but for every homeless person who wants to earn their place in society, there's more who don't want to. I say this as someone who's actually worked with them. I know a guy in Indianapolis who would offer cash daily to homeless people for help with his landscaping business. He'd provide the transportation and lunches along with $50+ (20 years ago mind you) and dinner for an honest days work. He said at most 1 out of 4 showed any interest, and maybe 1 out of 10 would show up for day 2. Virtually none of the 18-29 year olds wanted anything except a handout. I feel terrible for the ones who were foreclosed on or lost their jobs, but the vast majority of homeless people make no real attempt to better themselves.
@@SpiritDonkey agreed. I was homeless and climbed out because no one helped me. If you don’t do it yourself it is because you don’t want it bad enough.

This looks like an awesome motel, I wonder why it's not available to the public anymore. So many amenities. Also I would only use that slide in the winter, not summer. 😅

Anytime I watch a Ted Bundy crime show, I think of plaster o’Paris. Good think Mark Harmon is such a good actor and watching NCIS so much, I’m not scared of him anymore, lol.
It seems such a waste seeing the abandoned motel when there's so many homeless people with nowhere to live.
So sad the HOMELESS could have had a roof over their head all these years.😔☹😢
I do have sympathy for the homeless. However, the moment you open the property to them for housing, you become liable for injuries and if the roof does start to leak, you are liable for any health hazards that pop up as a result of lack of upkeep. And that upkeep isn't free... In a perfect world, unused and abandoned properties would be a great place for the homeless. But in the real world it never does work out that way.
@@djarcforceable ... as one poster stated, it seemed to be full of long term residents who had made bad life choices.... meaning a lower income for the business. IOW, everything went down hill from there.

Being born in '71, nothing here seems that "old". I stayed at plenty of places that looked just like this. I think the "out" building was likely cheap apartments for staff and the property manager. Loved the video!

Reminds me of another motel I somewhat explored in Vermont on a mountain, I noticed it because of a caved in trailer that was covered in snow, and it was kinda weird to think, "People lived here"
My parents and I used to stay in motels like that years ago when I was growing up, but most have been either torn down or used for low cost housing.

I'm an Urban Explorer. Same love & respect for places like this. As much as I would love to check this place out for myself, I respect you for not posting the location because of potential vandalism. real playground equipment. stuff playgrounds have now was for babies and toddlers when I was a kid (70's and 80's).
Hard to believe no one has taken the copper out of those tvs.
Whenever I see abandoned motels like this, I imagine how many homeless or low income people they could house.

There is so much value there in furniture, bathroom parts, fixtures etc etc. It's sad to see that it will likely be left a number of years then just bulldozed and all those things will be lost.
I wish I could find stuff like this here. Unfortunately it's likely to be inhabited by animals and huge banana spiders, and very rotten from humidity.
