  • I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

I'll never understand why people think because it's left empty they can go in and destroy the whole place. That must have been a beautiful place at one time. The stone work on those buildings is amazing. Thank you for touring it. Have a safe trip home.

i've visited this place before. it was originally a farm school but then became a school for unwanted problem children, then a home for young mothers (aka sent upstate to avoid shaming the family). they left it in such a rush in the 90's that when me and my friends visited about 6 years ago we found stacks of index cards with residents personal information on it (which we destroyed) and libraries full of moldering books (from which we took a couple favorites). it was bought by developers that dont care about the history of the buildings, and are waiting until it rots enough that it can be legally torn down despite its heritage protection so they can turn it into more faceless tract homes. despite all that, its the people who are using those unwanted buildings as a canvas for their art that you have a problem with???

    7:05 Ulmer Memorial Chapel
The Ulmer Memorial Chapel, designed in the Colonial Revival-style, was completed in August 1965 and dedicated on October 23. The $200,000 building was the gift of Edward M. Ulmer and his sister, Mrs G. Lathrop Smith, who donated $140,000 in 1964 toward the cost of the chapel as a memorial to their parents.
A chapel fund had been started at the conclusion of World War II, but the bottom line did not significantly increase until 1961 when proceeds from the annual Village Fair were earmarked specifically for the construction of the new building.
The 300-seat chapel was used for Catholic, Jewish, Protestant, and non-sectarian services.

That church with the slate roof and stone construction is testament to building techniques proven to resist degradation from time, the elements, and even vandalism. As you walked around in there I only saw one place broken through a wall, 1 or 2 doors off hinges and a busted particle door. None of the wood interior finish carpentry was damaged. All the staircases you went up & down appeared solid not rotted away or falling apart. Everything seemed solid under foot. Even the vandalism was mostly superficial the structure held up past any abuse. Interesting site originally to reform wayward youth as opposed to a prison cell.
    Good exploration video Post! Thanx

Is it just me but when I see buildings like this I see passed all the graffiti and vandalism which annoys the hell out of me and see the potential of a great renovation. As you said it is very well built and must have been beautiful in its hey day .
We used to film ‘Heartbeat ‘ , an old police drama in the uk set in the 60’s ,on and in the grounds of an old hospital in Yorkshire which had big stone buildings like this . Fortunately the local authorities sold it to a building contractor who renovated the old stone building into houses and the main hospital into office space .

Okay, the locked door. I think someone either lives there or has stuff there maybe. They have it locked so no one can get inside. They have instructions for the key so if anyone decides to text it, the person knows someone is there messing around with the door, because that is a new lock and looks like it hasn’t been there that long.

At about an hour and twenty-seven minutes into the video, the line ending in "showing feelings of an almost human nature." is a reference to the Pink Floyd song "The Trial", from the album "The Wall". The original lyric reads "The Crown will plainly show the prisoner who now stands before you was caught red-handed showing feelings. Showing feelings of an almost human nature. This will not do." It's most of the first verse of the song, from the Prosecutor.

Stunning video! Incredible buildings. I always go for the creepy attics and scary basements too. As far as the wood, I had a 100+ yr old cottage with all untreated wood inside. It had turned very dark just from drying out and looked like stain. People said paint it. I said over my corpse! It's beautiful wood. Linseeded it to preserve it. Another great video and I love your appreciation for everything you explore and interact with 👍👍

I saw a video recently where someone locked a room like that in an abandoned building and they actually completely fixed up the place (new paint new flooring and decorations) Made it a little hangout area, The lock is just so no one destroys it again. Maybe its something similar.

It's sad 😢 that places like this aren't restored. You don't see buildings like this.
Thank you for recording this, so there is a record of these buildings, etc.
