Loud Washing Mashine? Replace Bearings - Maytag Bravos XL

  • How to replace and install the drive shaft bearings on a washing machine. Yep, that's simple and easy.
No project around the house is too big for Stan Sullivan. So when the washing machine started to get so loud that I had to close
the laundry room door in order to have a conversation with my wife I knew it was time to snap into
action. Of course she wanted to call a repair man. I said "What you talkin 'bout. I am a repair man."
After ignoring a disapproving look I then looked online for the parts I need for my specific machine and
off I went tearing down the washer. The main thing that makes this repair job look difficult is the
number of steps needed to get to where you need to be in order to replace the parts that went bad. However,
if you take it just one step at a time this job like so many others is Simple and easy.

Great informative video. Helped me to realize that it's time for a new washing machine. My Maytag Bravos XL is making the kind of noise you mentioned at the beginning. Been doing that for the last month. Replacing the bearings seems too daunting! But I wouldn't know that until you showed us how. Thank you.

I did send you an email to see if you were ok, but no reply, but what the heck.

You wouldn't happen to know which kit you used would you? I need to do this repair and have seen many questionable kits that replace a bearing with a washer.

Hi Stan, I am not 100% sure, but I do think you are not supposed to have live ants running around the bottom of the washer drum. I have not seen you on U tube for a wile and I had forgotten your brand of humor, please keep the videos coming as your audience enjoys them when we see them.

The Maytag Bravo I'm looking at looks the same inside but it's a model without a glass lid it's much easier to lift the top though since it only has a couple of Clips in the front holding it down and it lives up like a car hood. In other videos the agitator spins freely from the tub I didn't see you demonstrate that mine won't spin independently from the tub which makes me think that it has a failed seal and it's probably seized up with rust in the bearing. Since you're model looks similar to mine maybe you can tell me does your agitator spin freely from the tub

Is the IBB channel still going to be dead? WR is much worse than when you left, but maybe you can pick up battle of titans, or BOT for short.

Well Hello. Long time no hear. Glad to see you still around. It is dead for now but I've been kicking around a few ideas. Maybe combine it with Simply Easy Homesteading channel and do gaming with vlog videos. Still in the works. Peace.
