My oldest son is in his early 20's and he has type 1 diabetes. But thank God for this piece of article th-cam.com/users/postUgkxVYhghKWmrUgXARZ_ydZTvmmcrw5L0I5i At first he thought he had the flu and was lying down on the bed for three days until his sister took him to the hospital. They took his blood and it was 600. What I do not understand is how he could have gotten it, since no one in the family has it. But he is winning the battle now. This is good stuff.

*My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*

Excellent video Kait !! A carnivore diet is excellent for type 2 diabetes. Eating only twice per day with a 14-15 hour fast between dinner and breakfast is very beneficial. I keep veggies to about 5% of my diet. People including myself forget that Metformin is giving us some body pains including fatigue. We must remember that if we eat the proper diet (no carbs/sugar) our bodies prefer no drugs. I did just that…I addressed type 2 diabetes head on and as a former Chef, I was able to realize that a carnivore diet was best. The carnivore diet includes many foods, not just steak. I eat wild caught sardines, mackerel, and pasture raised eggs, sausage, beef, chicken, lamb, caviar, liver, fish etc. Remember that your body talks to you, but you must listen to it !! Be well ❤️

Wonder if protein diet is too heavy on organs? Feel organs are finely tuned with diabetes. Prefer vegetables added and learnt to freeze veggies raw.
Also low GI bread slice once a day as evolution adapted Anatomy.

I am 72 years old and diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 8 years ago. I have slightly above pre- diabetes blood sugar levels but still it was higher than it should be. My doctor prescribed Metformin and I have taken 1500 mgs daily since then. I have no side effects except appetite loss and since retiring 3 years ago have lost almost 60 pounds, which I really needed to do. I have no problems taking Metformin and plan on taking it as long as it does the job of keeping my blood sugar down and doesn't cause any problems with my health. My husband who also is a type 2 diabetic can't take the drug at all, terrible bowel problems, etc. So each person can be effected differently.

I since now use a natural and effective root powder known as Berberine, not only does it work as well as Metformin, it also has "Side Benefits" Like ie: It's Antibacterial, it's antitumor, it's great to protect against Colon Cancer, It protects your kidneys, It's antiCancer, It fights Fatty Liver and so on and so on...You should look it up.. the Benefits are almost endless. It also clears brain fog ...Need I say more?...

Me too! I've taken Metformin for nearly 16 years and I've told an endocrinologist, an internist, and my primary care physician about bloating, nerve and muscle pain, and many more side effects mentioned here. Each doctor has told me my symptoms are "common in older people". No discussion of B9 or B12 and only recently my doctor mentioned Metformin may be the reason for frequent diarrhea. I was 56 when the symptoms began. Criminy! Thanks to coach Kait I've learned something important about being sure I get enough B9 & B12. I never even heard of B9 before. I'm very grateful Kait!

I know I’m commenting late but hopefully you get this, Kait. I was prescribed a metformin for a skin condition called HIDRADENITIS SUPPURATIVA (HS) that I’ve suffered with since my teens. Within 30 days it had cleared significantly and after 2 years the only breakouts I have are when I go a few days without it. Previously one of the only medications to help with this was acutane- now there’s a drug with side effects!
The medical profession as a rule prescribe metformine often because the BENEFITS outweigh the side effects. Period. I realize that health coaches and influencers want to talk down medications and believe me, I realize that healthy eating can solve a lot of things, but Metformin is truly a wonder drug that has been on the market for decades and does far more good than harm. The things you’ve said in here could keep people from trying something that could increase lifespan and reduce illnesses (like mine).

I agree and have been taking metformin (2000mgs daily) for 45 years for type 2 diabetes. I am 80 now and in very good health. I eat most of want I want and use every kind of artificial sweetener. I drink a Zero Sugar soda whenever I want one, (they used to be called diet soda's).
I did not make drastic changes in my diet. Instead I took the easy way and so far its worked for me with no problems. I have normal B-12 level and no kidney problems....my kidneys are checked frequently because I am a diabetic.........At 80 I am a few years past the average male lifespan. Maybe I am seeing the longevity side effect of metformin?

Eating low carb has dropped my A1C from 11.3 to 6.6 in about 2 1/2 months. Has returned my fatty liver to normal liver enzyme production and has helped me lose a little over 25 lbs. Because of the foods I eat I'm full longer and throughout the day eat less. I went from three meals and 3 small snacks daily to two meals and occasionally 1 low carb snack each day. If I do start to get hungry at a time that I can't eat, it passes within 30 minutes. Before, once I made two hours, I'd be so hungry that I couldn't concentrate the last hour before I ate. Never thought I'd go 16-18 hours without eating simply because my body craved carbs. Fats and protein keeps me full and I have to keep reminding myself to eat. Didn't think that was possible.

Usually by the last 2 hours, my legs are very tired but when I started taking metformin my legs would be VERY TIRED by the second hour of a 10 hour day (I still needed 8 more hours). I asked my doctor if I could take a lower dosage she straight just told me "No". So I started watching what I eat, lost weight and I feel great. FYI: My doctor still thinks I take metformin.

I took it for 2yrs and experienced most of the above mentioned side effects. A year ago I quit taking it and started using apple cider vinegar with the mother and daily using the quinol brand of high absorbency tumeric. I also started using an over the counter form of berberine and got into a daily exercise habit. In one year I lost 40 lbs and three inches off my waist. My A1C went from 9.8 to 5.9 and my primary care physician just 3 months ago declarared my diabetes to be completely reversed. I hope that my sharing this information might be helpful to others out there. Good luck people.

I stopped taking Metforman because I wanted to use food changes to get better. My heart doctor but me back on the blood thinners. I only bleed minimally now. Which is another problem I need to get fixed. I heard several
years ago that 60% of Americans are on a regularily perscribed medication. That percentage must be a lot higher now. What a sad condition we are in allowing the foods we eat to make us so sick. I have had no side effects and regular test of my liver and kidneys show no damage. B-12 level is also normal. I could probably have done "something else" but taking metformin has allowed me to eat things I probably would not without it, and still maintain the A1C of a non diabetic. Also, I'm 78 now and hoping it proves to be a longevity drug. From my experience there is no reason to fear metformin.........it makes my life better.......

I walked in with same complaints as previous appointments, extreme hair loss, gastrointestinal issues (constipation, bloating), blood work says low iron, muscle fatigue which is sever enough that I can hardly walk a week after just one workout. Same experience for me, one year with metformin changed nothing, 4 months keto put back my diabete numbers in normal range. I still take it once a day, that will be my next step in a few months...

25 years on metformin, no side effects, it works great and it's cheap. I'm 78 now....

If you're diabetic you should eat regularly about every 2hrs Small amounts but you say you should eat less regularly?

I hated metformin I had diarrhea after every meal. It sucked. It went on for good month. I went on low carb diet and I'm fine now. I watch what I eat and stay away from sugar and high starchy foods. I'd rather do it this way than take that crap. Im much healthier now . I do one meal a day on most days ,and fast on Saturday. And my body is happy. My sweet tooth hates me. But I don't listen to him anymore.listen to this lady she knows what she is taliking about.
