It seems nuts that docs wouldn't at least give patients a shot at reducing the carbs before resorting to a drug for the rest of their lives.

@@jameskantor0459 diet and lifestyle change should be the first protocol to improve insulin sensitivity. Berberine is a natural supplement that has been shown to be as effective as metformin with fewer side effects (some GI distress still). That can be supplemented or inositol. Metformin might be right for some people... but a lot of people are not made aware of alternatives or side effects.

My wife was being told by Dr and diabetes educator to start on metformin. I asked her to try a keto diet first. 2 months in and her blood sugars are between 6 to 7.9 every morning. Weight loss has been an issue with the keto diet so far as she is wheelchair bound, but the stable sugars are a great benefit.

I was very lucky I didn’t have a wreck…. I thought not strong enough for was due to age .. I had my gallbladder removed too .. That was unnecessary too. Have been on Metformin for T2 diabetes for over 25+ years. If I missed a dose you did have to rush to the loo, however, I do not suffer from it so much. I was put on insulin about 10 years back. • @jgrafx

I was on Metformin for several years and finally was obliged to quit it. I experienced the full set of vile symptoms with it: diarrhea, constipation, severe nausea, horrible leg cramps, exhaustion, chronic tiredness. I was unable to function when on it, despite making sure I ate right after taking it, made sure I drank water, took electrolyte supplements, and exercised regularly. Things got so bad that my doctor agreed that my side effects symptoms were so awful that I needed to get off of Metformin ASAP. Have been put on other drugs that do a better job lowering my A1C and have lost over 100 pounds so far. Aiming for 50 pounds more to get to a target ideal weight.

So what drug did they out you on??

    • @jgrafx
      @jgrafx 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

I assume you are asking me what drug they “put” me on rather that what drug they “outed” me on (as if I were doing something illegal, which I was not).
At first they put me on Jiardiance pills. They worked very well at first, but over time I started getting painful yeast infections of the female parts. I could not sit without being in exquisite pain. They were obliged to take me off of that, but the yeast infections haven’t been controlled or stopped just yet. Being older, once things have dried out and made me more susceptible to infections there, these are harder to shut off once started. Being also treated with Anastrazole to reduce estrogen levels to make me less susceptible after having had breast cancer, this already has me more dried out than normal. So due to this, I was taken off of Jardiance. So now they have me on a combination of Glimipiride pills, daily injections of Solostar Insulin, and weekly injections of Ozempic. Not fun!

I stay away from prescription drugs as much as possible. Read; "The Epidemic of Sickness and Death from Prescription Drugs" by Donald W. Light. These drugs/medications are the world's 4th. biggest killer. I look into the objectives of each drug prescribed to me, then look for alternative natural ways to achieve the same results. My doctor NEVER talks about side effects, they have become merely drugs salespeople. They will keep issueing drugs until they are coming out of your ears; you won't need water, just put them in a sandwich!
If you have a death wish and enjoy sitting on the toilet with your tonsils hanging out of your backside, then continue taking the garbage they prescribe, and no complaints when you awake to find yourself dead one morning! Stay away from Statins!

Injections of Estrogen are part of prostate cancer journey, along with radiotherapy. Ive taken Metformin for over 10 years, I have fatique, but not sure if it's that or radiotherapy that's causing that. Not trying to dish out advice, this is just my story. I was on metformin and because I was already on a low carb diet and exercising three times a week, this drug caused me to wake up two to three hours earlier feeling very hungry. So, I let the doctor know and weaned myself off this drug.

Congratulations! I am not surprised because Keto and MF do the same thing, namely, low bg, the former naturally, the latter via an artificial and.toxic compound.

Severe fatigue, in my case, especially after the evening meal. I wasn't briefed about Metformin side effects. I wish that I'd seen this video. So, I guess, does my family who were affected too.
btw, Kait, may I respectfully suggest you dampen the acoustics. It sounds like you're recording in a bathroom.

Uuggh!!! I was on Janumet (metformin and Januvia). It made me sooooo sick! I lost down to 95 pounds (about a 20 pound loss) and my sugar levels would bottom out regularly!!! My doctor took me off of it and put me on a low dose of Actos. I've gained back to 115 pounds ( I'm 5'4"). Whew!!!!

I stop taking a whole pill and start taking a half for about 3 or r was now and my nausea went away. Is that OK to take a half of metformin? I fell much better. But I still get. constipated.

My doctor told me in March, that I had type 2 diabetes and to loose weight and to take a 500 mg metforman once a day. I am 5'2 and started at 1330 LBS. I have not taken metforman and am still trying to lose weight. I am on a keto diet and IF and my weight loss stalled at 129 lbs. Any suggestions?

The main ingredient of authentic cony sauce is beef heart!, finally something good about cony dogs !!! But back to the main issue, metformin gave me diarrhea the first time I took it but didn't last beyond the first day. I do take supplements to offset the side effects and that seems to work for me, especially the occasional cony dog, Thank You for the information, it's been very useful.

I seem to have anxiety related to my metformin consumption. My doctors office does not seem to want communication and is referring me to immediate care which seems less efficient. I need advice for how to locate care. I have insurance but my funds are not unlimited. Is the nausea, diarrhea, fatigue and crushing anxiety just the price I pay?

Diarrhea is a common known effect when taking metformin. I have been an educator to learn people about diabetes.
Metformin is usually taken the wrong way. My advice is: take it during or after a meal. That really helps a lot to get rid of the diarrhea. Too bad doctors don’t tell that to their patients.

    • @drlucy1137

Most doctors today don’t tell you anything. They just hand you the pill. You have to do your own research. Like I said that is most doctors not all.

I was on metaphoric. For 9 yrs. I definitely had my Testosterone drop to almost zero but in Canada they dont worry about it unless you go below zero. Also the beating has been significant in the 7yr onward. I have been off it for almost 6 months. Still have bloating as my body is changing back. I quit the meds as I have been on carnivore for the last 6months and I dont require the meds. Had a ton of tests done but no other cause for bloating was found.

I’d been taking Metformin for years when suddenly I experienced diarrhea. The pharmacist said that should not happen and it must be another cause. My GP had a locus in when I saw her for medication renewal and suggested I cut back Metformin to a very low dose and increase it over time. That seemed to work, maybe a reset. I didn’t know about CoQ10 for side effect of Metformin fatigue. I also take Lipitor and have used CoQ10 to
combat problems with taking the statin. I sometimes have diarrhea in the morning so will try taking Metformin at night with a meal. Thanks for the great video. ❤️🇨🇦
