CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Balin (Ken Stott) recounts the story of Thorin's (Richard Armitage) valor on the battlefield against the evil orc Azog (Manu Bennett).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) joins Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and a band of dwarves led by the brave Thorin (Richard Armitage) on a treacherous quest to reclaim their mountain home from the fierce dragon Smaug in this epic fantasy adventure adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved novel by the creative forces behind the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Long before Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) made his arduous journey to Mordor, his brave uncle Bilbo embarked on an adventure for the ages. Bilbo's story gets under way when the great wizard Gandalf appears at his front gate with a most unusual offer. Displaced from their massive fortress in the Lonely Mountain by Smaug - a greedy dragon who coveted their gold - a community of noble dwarves were decimated by a surprise attack by monstrous orcs, whose dreaded leader the Pale Orc slew their king in a gruesome battle. Now, Thorin, the descendent of the king, is determined to reclaim his mountain kingdom for his people. Together with a fearless team of dwarves, Thorin and Gandalf recruit Bilbo to aid them in their quest since Hobbits have the unique ability to go undetected when they wish to. Before Bilbo, Gandalf, and the dwarves can reach The Lonely Mountain and defeat Smaug, however, they'll have to contend with trolls, goblins, stone giants, Gollum (Andy Serkis), and even the dreaded Pale Orc himself. Peter Jackson directs a screenplay he co-penned with Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, and Guillermo del Toro.

If you look closely, Thorin is wearing a Mithril vest that's why he is not wearing armour.
oh! thats a good call
Well, a mail shirt anyway. No proof it's mithril.
@@et3inuyasha
Looks like the mithril vest he gave to Bilbo. Solid assumption I'd say.
Wow I never noticed that, nice eye.
@@et3inuyasha he has it under regular mail shirt, look when he's falling after Azog hits him
Horrible place to stop the scene. The Dwarves staring at their King after the last sentence is very significant.
Exactly
This quick film shows us how a real leader is never ready to accept defeat and also to inspire his followers.
I love how Thorin is one of the most realistic leaders, he has his flaws, but great leader nevertheless.
And in the end he faced his flaws and conquered them. Thus, he avenged his family, his people, and died a heroic death that echoed throughout the ages.
He is one that i co6ld call King

This has to be the best scene in the whole Hobbit Trilogy
I dont know about that but the ride of rohirrim in rotk was badass
@@dianazamora6601 He said Hobbit trilogy not LOTR
NOT FOR ALL
The Bilbo and Smaug sequence was the best
Sir Nils Olav Na the sons of durin when thy charge out with the bell gives me nostalgia
1:43 still give me chills... the whole scene was just pure master piece and very good story telling!
This scene terrified me, then gave me hope. I dont know if its the lighting, music, acting, or narration, but THIS is how you flashback.
And I thought to myself...there is one that I could follow... there is one that I could call King. That part hits me. I do not completely understand why.
I think is the way the actor delivers the line, is really a cool scene
The way the story is told gives me goosebumps
Young dwalin looks badass like a barbarian
I always got the impression that Dwalin was the more wilder of the two and his brother Balin was more scholarly and subdued.
Just needs to dye his hair and beard orange and he'd make a mighty fine slayer
“Holding nothing but a branch oak as a shield” and his last name matches
well obviously, because he was named oakenshield BECAUSE of the oak shield he wore. it was a nickname, not his birth name
@@thedislikebutton3425 what I always wondered: if its a nickname given after Smaug took over Erebor, why does Smaug refer to Thorin as Oakenshield in the scene where he's talking to Bilbo? (my guess: bad writing of the movie lol)
@@rayking8747 why wouldn't he? Assuming that he didn't just hear it from people he had captured or who attempted to take treasure from his horde it is mentioned that him and the Necromancer were in cahoots in the movies so he would have told him especially if he knew that they might be coming for him.
@@nop2774 Smaug probably heard whispers of it from prisoners or from emissaries of the Necromancer.
2:42 goosebumps
Balin: There is one I could follow......... Earlier: Thorin: I lost my way, twice
Screw you Google maps
At least Thorin's Honest
The weight on Thorins shoulders is so heavy. Like damn. Carrying a past of failure, loss and grief and a kind generational curse around all his life and still wanting only the best for his people and always standing up for them must be one hell of a burden. No wonder why his shoulders are so damn huge. I think despite him going mad in the mountain he still is one of the best leaders in film history
Thorin is by far the best character in the hobbit series. He is the best.
Metal Shield +5 defense
Oaken Branch +20 defense + 5 Accuracy
And that’s how Thorin had the name Oakenshield
King Thorin forever
Why is it the orcs in this scene each looks unique and well designed. Yet in the next two movies they all look the same?
That's because in the next two movies they wear armour
Nikers Ramnikers the next two movies were rushed in 2 months 😔
I know right. These Orcs have so much detail of Torture.
For whatever reason they did lots of reshoots and added way more CGI. Yasneg was the original Azog design and you even see Dwalin defeating Bolg. Then for whatever reason that redesigned them as CGI characters.
@@steven1813 I heard that P. Jackson was handed the films after their original director quit, so he had limited funds and a time-crunch to make it work.
Blame the studios and fat cats for the conditions; I think, given what he had to work with, Jackson did an amazing job.
0:42 That is when I saw him. A young dwarf prince. Facing down the Pale Orc. Chills every time.
what a king. what a warrior.
Dang it this clip didn't let it breath... love this scene!!!!
in this trilogy the word "king" has such a power

One of the best battles in LOTR so much close combat but that’s how the dwarves do it close combat and heavy Armor
Best narration of a story I have heard
this scene made me play Fantasy RPGs (with dwarves as my main character) for years; stout, strong, bulky and stubborn, lol, good times
LOTR fans gave the Hobbit trilogy bad review. I actually loved all 3 Hobbit movies, especially the 1st one.

TROP is Batman and Robin, while The Hobbit is Batman Begins.
I quite like the Hobbit, it is dragged a little too long, if they had made it two movies like originally planned it would have been a masterpiece. Alfrid, Legolas, Tauriel and Radaghast took up too much time unnecessarily.

King Thorin died💔😔💔
Once upon a time... I was bored... And then I saw the "Hobbit"... And I thought to myself... There is one, who could be my mentor... There is one I could call King.
Incorrect scene, it should show Dain, son of Nain, slew Azog. It also explains why they will never enter Moria again(the Balrog is watching the battle, and Dain saw it). It should also show the death of Fundin. But yes, that's how Thorin get the name Oakenshield.
It's a sad tale that the line of Thror failed, but at least the line of Fror(or is it Gror, I forgot) survived in the form of Dain II
The best scene forever
*sad Rohirrim noises*
"That is when... I saw him..."
This trilogy has moments of greatness in it. Just not enough.
Yeah but whit the years, I wouldn't change it now, the style is different from Lotr but I think the Hobbit trilogy deserve its place near LOtr ...
As much this was an epic scene. I really preferred the books. The armored armies of the Iron Hills was the key to defeating the orcs. And when they arrived, they swept the battlefield and decisively broke their enemies back to depths of Moria.
While Nain the Iron hill king was mortally wounded in a duel with Azog, Dain came to his rescue and killed Azog.
Azog's head was placed on a pike, and his mouth placed the bag of coins he payed to Nar(Thror's companion) after murdering the dwarf king. (A sort of insult)
Hey, nothing wrong with that.
azog is a badass orc but when hes whereing that scirt he looks kinda rediculous. except for when hes whereing the big metal armor that looks cool
He’s not wearing armor. Those metals were imbedded to his skin.
Oppai Dude that is a terrible comparison holy crap

Looks like a Videogame. And THAT is my Main critisism about these movies
Moment like this in The Hobbit trilogy was gold. Gave me shills and memories of first time watching LOTR.
But then they rushed the whole Hobbit trilogy. If they could take more moments like this. Take a story in for once. It would be as big a LOTR.
But in all, This scene is epic.
2:12 is that young dwalin? 😆
you cut out the end!
I hope they make a movie where this is the final battle
2:11 duel wielding axes very dwarvish thing to do.
Thorin really does like cutting down to up doesn't he? He cuts off Azog's arm doing it and both times he leads a charge against orcs he opens with that swing.
1:43 FOR HONOR be like when you start winning in dominion
The time when Dwalin still has his mohawks haircut
"Nothing but an oaken branch as a shield."
Ok now I get why his last name is Oakenshield
A head for a hand
One could i can follow there one i can call Queen under the mountain
Balin sounds an awful lot like the narrator from the Skyrim trailer
in the books as i know it was Dain Ironfoot that killed Azog
azog was never present in the hunting of the dwarves it
id didn't know that azog was that big
I noticed real orc actors and not CGI orcs. Why didn't they keep it that way?
Because Warner Bros. wanted them to use more CGI, and they weren't giving Peter Jackson enough time to finish his movies the way he wanted to.
Jonathan Szuhai well now I got a different opinion on the movies I can accept it more
@fee foo Peter Jackson still wanted to use a lot more practical effects than what made it into the final version, but Warner Bros. didn't give him enough time to make them during pre-production, especially after Guillermo Del Toro stepped down as director and all of his pre-production work ended up getting scrapped.
This is a perfect example of the best and worst from Hobbit trilogy. This tells an epic story about how Balin first saw Thorin as a King worth following. Balin’s admiral towards Thorin is acknowledged throughout the whole trilogy, even when he admits to Bilbo how disappointed he feels about Thorin being corrupted because of Erebor’s treasure and the Arcstone. And after all that,,the emotional scene of Thorin being told he’s corrupted is with…Dwalin. That’s the pure definition of wasted storytelling. That same scene with Balin would
‘ve been vastly improved because of that emotional factor.
Thorin the real king..
Dwarves is the most richest army because elves want their gold and dwarves is the first army who fight against orks in the mountains
0:05 very similar to Conan the barbarian.
Finally , Azog clean up the line of durin #SHIT .
Gloin son of Gorin hi
me when I see a funny meme
Bilbo asks What happened to Azog? Thorin answered he died from his wounds long ago. Balin and Gandalf looked at each other because they knew Azog is still alive
If some one wrote a fanfic about Jamie Lannister losing his father to euron Greyjoy at lannisport that would be interesting and Barristan is the one telling the story.
Well Balin, theres little choice there isnt it? Who else can you call king?
Dain II
I swear nothing said within the battle itself is English 😂😂
Ok seriously..... Why the heck didn't Durin kill Azog when he had the chance??
