I hate those kind of earbuds though, they never seam to stay in my ear and it feels weird to push them further in my ear.
Me tool I have to use the ones that have the thing that goes over your ear.

well, there are some earbuds where the buds are interchangeable with different sizes. idk about this one tho
The whole idea is to push it deep into your ear to get a tight fit, which provides good isolation. You get used to it. Also, most earbuds come with different sized tips so you can probably find ones that are comfortable in your ear.

Just buy headphones with flat cable, they dont tangle, for example "coloud pop" they are quite good and only about 15$

Round cables bend easly in all ways, the flat one only in one/two, this way they almost never tangle.
Right now im using coloud boom(for pc), and I dont remember does they tangled at least once...
Also im using flat usb cable for phone, from remax.

I hate to say this, but non tangling earbuds have been around for a long time. Actually, you probably already have some. If you bring the slider at the base of the Y to the top at the earbuds before you put them in your pocket, they will not get tangled. This is the purpose of that slider that no one uses. You're welcome ;)

I carry 3 sets of headphones in my purse at all times. 1 just in case. 2 so I can use one for my phone or tablet and one for my ipod and they tangle bad. like "it sometimes takes me 20 minutes to untangle" bad. these seem pretty convenient as a backup in your purse. Reason I carry 3 is because for some reason, no matter cheap or expensive, my headphones break on me in a period from a month to a year. I guess I am just very rough on them or something. So I tend to keep the ones on my ipod connected at all times (seems to keep them longer). So 1 pair just in case and one for phone and tablet is a must have for me. And since they break so often, i long since gave up buying too expensive. I usually just go for skullcandy ones. So if these are in similar range I might as well try them at some point. No tangles is pretty important to me.
