So I gotta ask. I have the inspire 2 and just acquired the adapter to put my X5s on my osmo but they have different connectors. Is it only the x5 that can go on the osmo?
Thank you so much. I wonder how much is work to make these videos but I'm asking this comparison because until today saw not a good comparison. To be good need to zoom the image to see better.
Working at a machine shop, we are going to make that adapter plate you grinded down. Only concern is the piece inside that has the grease in it. What is that for and could we take that inside greased part out and put it in our made up adapter? What are your thoughts?
Yes, you could take it out and use it in your adapter. The inside plate with the screws is stationary while the piece we ground down is the moving part that locks the gimbal in place. Let me know how it goes. If you can fabricate them there might be a market for that piece. At least for a few weeks until the DJI plate comes out.
+DroneTech I'm just tired of waiting after hearing, November, December, Beginning of January. I will give it to the machinist tomorrow and see what he says. Thanks for the quick reply. Another quick question. Could you possibly sent me pictures of that adapter cap you grinded down? top, bottom or sides so I can show him the part today and see if he needs anything to make it? email, is skyviewaerialtech@gmail
DJI needs to update the settings of the gimbal so that it doesn't try to accommodate vertical motion by smoothing it out with the pitch axis. The up and down motion looks too bouncy and robotic. Other gimbals produce more organic natural walking motion footage when walking.
the adapter we made worked. but when I powered on the osmo the x5 didn't want to do its turning when calibrating. it turned a little and then went limp. had video signal but the gimble weren't powering
+Sky View Aerial Tech - you may have created the adapter too shallow. Mine did not push the the joy stick. Touched it, but didnt push. Sit the original adapter from the OSMO and the one you created on a flat surface next to each other, face up and take a picture from the side. I want to see the size difference. thanks
+DroneTech Hello, i just did the X5 mod and my camera goes limp after 3 seconds powered on too. Im able to view the live feed through my iPhone and also record, but the gimbal motors just turn off. Any ideas?
Hello, excuse my bad English ... I made the change x5 and after using it for about 15 20 days and this does not turn, to be more precise turns on, does connect the phone via wi fi, but the room (even if turned on, the lED works) does not move and notification of Osmo lED do not light up ... do you know what could have happened? Thanks in advance ...
+DroneTech I do not have the x 3 of osmo ... but only the X5 inspire one of my ... It may be that the battery even if not new completamnte charge and therefore the osmo not "light up" (notification LED no signs of life) but the wi-fi works dell'osmo and LEDs light up on the X5?
+Raptorman0909 - Not sure, that is why we made this DIY video. DJI told us the adapter would be ready in Nov 2015, then Dec, now they are saying they are not sure.
+DroneTech Well that does suck now doesn't it. Actually, it almost sounds like there may be a V2 in the works that is designed from the beginning to support the X5/X5R. Perhaps a bigger battery and reworked cooling and audio. When they have a reliable system for use with the X5/X5R they are going to kill it with the TV and film industry, particularly the smaller shops.
This was an important info as i was planing to install my X5 to Osmo joystick, i to it will fit automatic but now after looking at the video i have to do the same. i think. is there an adapter for this to fit in without grinding the osmo?
I purchased a 3D printed adapter which seems to fit just fine. The issue that I'm having is that the X5 turns on, spins around, locks into the start position and then falls down. I know that it is a known issue for the firmware to crash at 40% with the x5 attached but I cant even get the beginning setup tutorial to work. Also, when I go into the about section in the Go app it says my current firmwares are "unknown". Can you help? How did you even get to your current level of functionality? Is it possible my handle-only kit has a different firmware that doesn't work at all with the X5?
+mikiclinic I'm in the same boat too. Need to update the X5's firmware with the inspire, which I don't have. So I'm stuck with a limp X5 Osmo until DJI releases the goods.
Hey! Love this video, it 'Inspired' me (ha) to fit my X5 to my OSMO too. Mine's a little loose, and the X5 plate means the stick is pushing at all times, how the hell did you manage to make it work? :)
+Russell Nicholls - Unfortunately it sounds like you may have shaved too much off the piece of metal. Ours does touch the joystick (barely), but it doenst push it and we can use the joystick. Can you send me some pictures? dronetech33@gmail.com
Interesting video Jake, I thought I was going to faint. ;-) DJI advertised that the OSMO would be able to mount the X5 and the X5R, do you think that they made this same mode in there demo video or have a modification/adapter to add to the camera/OSMO? I would really like to view the video test files you mentioned before I buy a X5, how do I see them? Thank again!
+Bobster986 - Ill ZIP them up and put them in the comments. They will be releasing the adapter plate /bracket but its taking a LONG TIME. I am guessing its more of a firmware issue than a manufacturing problem. Ill let you know when they are uploaded.
begs the question why did dji design it like this... just so they could sell you a £300 adapter. They shoudl have supplied a new adapter with the x5r... or someone should have started fabrciating these for £30... lol. Great hack.. .i may save myself some money like you did.
Once they make this into a 4 axis gimbal, I'll bite. The up and down motion is getting me sea sick(through no fault of the operator). They need to address this before advertising this as a possible B roll camera for professional film making. I do have a Nebula 4000 this might work well on though, vertical bouncing is much less pronounced maybe do to the sheer size of the gimbal
So I gotta ask. I have the inspire 2 and just acquired the adapter to put my X5s on my osmo but they have different connectors. Is it only the x5 that can go on the osmo?
Great video. Please, you could make a video comparing the X5 with x3? A comparison on sharpness and dynamic range.
+Djalma Ribeiro Using a static image, not flying so there is no difference in the image.
+Djalma Ribeiro We will be doing more tests over the next few days to compare the differences. Stay tuned! Thanks
Thank you so much. I wonder how much is work to make these videos but I'm asking this comparison because until today saw not a good comparison. To be good need to zoom the image to see better.
Hey thank you very much for this, what is possible with X5S pleas
How much maximum weight X5 supports??

+Sky View Aerial Tech Sent you some photos. Let me know if you need something more specific. I can try and get some more tonight or tomorrow.

+Michael Ma - True, you learn to compensate for it. But I agree
How about a comparison of the x5 on Osmo, versus x5 on Inspire? With both hand held walking? (Holding the Inspire )
+Jeff Davis Good idea. Will work on that this weekend.
You can change the electronics of x3 and put it to a camera osmo to make it work in a inspire 1?
why is the footage bouncing? what happened to the stabilizer?
I have both and it doesn't do that with me
use flashlight mode
the adapter we made worked. but when I powered on the osmo the x5 didn't want to do its turning when calibrating. it turned a little and then went limp. had video signal but the gimble weren't powering
+Sky View Aerial Tech - That is strange. Did the X3 gimbal work with the adapter ?
+DroneTech I don't have an x3. just have the handle kit and an inspire pro. also, the back end pushes the joy stick down
+Sky View Aerial Tech - you may have created the adapter too shallow. Mine did not push the the joy stick. Touched it, but didnt push. X5s?

+Francesco Pace - Not sure. Did you try the X3 on the OSMO again? Same result? How about the X5 on the Inspire?
+DroneTech I do not have the x 3 of osmo ... but only the X5 inspire one of my ... It may be that the battery even if not new completamnte charge and therefore the osmo not "light up" (notification LED no signs of life) but the wi-fi works dell'osmo and LEDs light up on the X5?
When is DJI going to release an X5/X5R version of the Osmo?
+Raptorman0909 - Not sure, that is why we made this DIY video. DJI told us the adapter would be ready in Nov 2015, then Dec, now they are saying they are not sure.

+Mohamed Shafy There will be. Right now this is the only option.
Hi,
I got a seller who is seling the Adaptor for 100.00 usd.
thanks
Mohamed
Have you tried to attach the x3 camera using the now thinner collar?
+Jeff Davis - Yes, works just fine. Thanks for the comment!

I have same trouble. My handle firmware is 1.4.1.80.
+mikiclinic I'm in the same boat too. Need to update the X5's firmware with the inspire, which I don't have. So I'm stuck with a limp X5 Osmo until DJI releases the goods.
+iphilms I'm also having this issue. Has anyone figured out how to update the X5 without the inspire?
Unfortunately, no. I just purchased an Inspire :/
Please advice me your X5 and handled firmware version.
Unfortunately My X5 GB cannot be initialized, camera view is OK.
After I update X5 to ver 1.3060, OSMO(ver 1.4180) can link X5.
Thank you
+mikiclinic Glad you figured it out. A few others have had the same problem.
So, does anyone know when DJI is going to release Osmo with X5 camera?
+Real Estate Video Center Las Vegas - They have not given any info on a release date.
Where does the footage get saved?
balboa park? nice....
Hey! Love this video, it 'Inspired' me (ha) to fit my X5 to my OSMO too. Mine's a little loose, and the X5 plate means the stick is pushing at all times, how the hell did you manage to make it work? :)

Hey! Thanks, actually I used a 3D printed part. I found that by pulling off the joystick (it goes back on easily!) it stopped this issue altogether :)
Nice! Which 3d printer do you use?
+DroneTech I'm not sure, it's my Dad's one and he set it up for me. Did you do any firmware updates with the Osmo & X5?
+Russell Nicholls - no, firmware will not update through the go app with the X5 attached. it freezes

DroneTech Thanks, but how do I view it? it doesn't what to play, says its missing something or it cant get to content.
+Bobster986 You have to un ZIP the folder, there are 3 videos in the in MOV format. Its large, over 1 GB, so give it time to download.
Funktionieren die Tasten am Griff 1 zu 1.Für eine Auskunft bin ich Dankbar,Freundliche Grüsse R. Schwarz
still get to record in RAW?
+William Dean - No RAW on the X5 -- X5r will be out in a few months. Right now we record at 60MBPS
Great tip!!

Mod a inspire 1 ring and not your osmo collar and keep your warranty...
+simon Li Good Point. We didnt have one and wanted 2 handles to do side by side comparisons. Thanks for the comment.
I did its a simpler mod...
+simon Li do you have any photos or videos of your mod?
yes on the past photos of face-books osmos owners group...
Ok.
